cybercoma Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 He's not being sanctioned for anti-social behaviour, but for privately held views which were taped and released without his permission. His views are his views, whether private or not. If it damages the NBA to keep him around, then you can't really blame them for trying to get rid of him. Has he even apologized? Like I said earlier, he showed that he's a racist jerk, but in the grand scheme of things, the situation with his girlfriend is nothing compared to what he was charged with prior. I don't fell sorry for him at all. Quote

My point was that the unspoken sub-texts of both Chappaquiddick and the Clippers brouhaha is similar. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Shady Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) Bill Maher made some excellent points regarding Sterling... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4mmp6MYxrc Edited May 11, 2014 by Shady Quote

monty16 Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 We should form two lines: All those who are racists and try to pretend racism isn't running rampant in that country and all who deny the teabagger right's agenda isn't racism. and All those who just call it like it is. There really is no other choice and we shouldn't be pretending that there is. Quote
Shady Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 Why do you hold up a man you almost never agree with whenever he makes a point you like? Actually, I agree with much of the libertarian type positions he has on issues. Even some politics. But a good point is a good point regardless. Do you ever ask some of the people in this forum why they suddenly champion the pope, even though on almost all social issues, they disagree with him? Quote

I was just wondering, because I like Bill Maher a lot. I agree with him much of the time (though not always) and this is one issue that I agree with him on for sure. Quote

jbg Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) Why do you hold up a man you almost never agree with whenever he makes a point you like?Unless someone is as odious as Stalin or Hitler I will often quote them. I can agree with a quote without agreeing with everythng they say. I often quote Chretien or Pierre Trudeau (the smart one, not the moron) even though I don't agree wtih them on much. Ditto Obama. As far as Maher's comments, he is wrong. The 4th Amendment does not apply to private conversations. One participant to a conversation is free to reveal its contents to the world. One should make sure they trust people they talk to, especially when they make disgusting remarks. cybercoma Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 I would have loved to see your reaction, Shady, had she not recorded it. You would be all over the forum calling her a liar. Quote
monty16 Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 It didn't have to be anything more than word of mouth. Shady probably doesn't like the fact that the recording provided the evidence and gave the issue legs so it couldn't be denied. Good dog, why would anyone even try to defend that racist pig? One would think, ........ no never mind, there's no proof, just a track record of being on 'that' side. Quote

Lurking next to a conversation in which you're not involved is a crime in most states, including most Canadian states. She asks a pertinent question. The team is pretty much half hers anyway. Why can't she take over ownership of the Clippers? Sterling also allowed himself to be interview FINALLY. And he asked for forgiveness. A little late to that there Donald. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/donald-sterlings-bizarre-apology-interview-703136 One mistake?
