You don't see how accusing of somebody of being 'cutesy' could be seen as being sexist ?

Not in the slightest.

But tell me how Cutesy is gender specific.

All you need to do is use the forum search feature and type in 'cutesy". Its been used a number of times and not once (that I could see) has it been used in a gender specific manner.

Who feels that making an insulting reference to the cultural sophistication of Afghanistanis ought to get you suspended?

Good point. I can't believe that in this day and age, people still don't understand that. Kind of like using the term sweetie, or honey.

I do...only insulting references to American culture are approved here. :P

It doesn't foster a constructive dialogue. We all get that some of their cultural phenomenon is abhorrent.

And how many posts foster a constructive dialogue? For exmaple, the posts immediately above yours, which deal with 'cutesy' don't seem to have much to do with the topic at hand. For that matter, none of your sneering, caustic posts about Obama 'foster a constructive dialogue' either. They simply draw sneering, caustic replies.

Should we suspend anyone if even one of their posts fails to foster a constructive dialogue?

If you said 'some of their culture is abhorrent', I don't think anybody would raise an eyebrow.

So you can say some of a culture is aborhorant but can't give any examples of what makes the culture abhorant without risking suspension?

For example, suppose I was to say that in a thousand years, Afghanis will still be beating their twelve year old wives? That would be a commentary on the refusal of Afghanis to join the modern world, as well as on spousal violence and child marriage, both of which are endemic in Afghanistan, and neither of which the community leadership seems inclined to do anything about. Should that draw a suspension?

Caveat - I'm giving my opinion here. The moderators have sole domain over the subject matter you're asking about. So maybe I misspoke.

For example, suppose I was to say that in a thousand years, Afghanis will still be beating their twelve year old wives?

Because we are human beings reading these things, and not cats and robots, HOW you say something does matter even if it's the logical equivalent of another acceptable sentence. Again, I suspect this is the case but I have no authority to say definitely.

Good point huh? Failed english I take it?

I cant believe in this day and age people are ignorant to not understand that the word does not have any specific gender.

In this case shady, you are playing cutesy with your "oh gosh' bullsit. Like most times.

Correct

MH doesnt normally make that error. Shady does it to troll and be a pain in the ass, but we all know that.

Of course not. The initial statement would likely draw attacks from relativists, but their concerns should easily be addressed by your followup statements. Ideally, this should be sorted out within the debate itself and without the need to feign offense and involve the moderators.

I guess you're blind then... how many women/girls do you count vs. men ? I have at least 5 to 10 times as many.

Seriously? Of all people...you?

Heres the definition. Please show me (since no one will and has been asked three times now-making it obvious you guys arent right) where it is exclusive to a gender?

cute·sy

adjective \ˈkyüt-sē\

: trying very hard or too hard to be appealing : too cute in an annoying way

This is rather funny watching some flail instead of admitting what is obvious.

I suppose I better not ever say 'Hey you guys, hurry up" if theres at least one woman in that group.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it as remotely sexist. Nor was "shocked," which was also targeted, for...some reason, as yet unstated.

Of course, it's hard to deal with followup questions when you're immediately suspended...

Context is everything, as I said. Calling somebody 'cute' during a serious discussion is generally insulting, but even that is out of context from here.

Whats insulting is someone posting " that person is a slut' then when getting called out countering with " oh did 1 ? Oh gosh...how could that be"

Not to mention of course no one called anyone cute.

And the context was lost when wcr jumped the gun and called out Argus for using the term dumbass and left out the "what if I called them a dumbass"

And again, where is the gender specifics of the word. Maybe I should wait for a fifth time and ask again?

Yes, that would be insulting.

And again, where is the gender specifics of the word.

The word cute isn't gender specific, but as I said not quite 5 times context is everything. I think we've now reached the end of the discussion here. As we have both pointed out, we're repeating ourselves.

And that is what was done.

Prior to this it was twice, so now 3 times.

And again, there is no context to cutesy, it applies to both men and women as I showed the maening of the word.

I think we've now reached the end of the discussion here. As we have both pointed out, we're repeating ourselves.

Yeah, considering no one has backed your opinion on this, two have come on to say there is no gender in the word.
