G Huxley Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 Of course I agree, I just note the hypocrisy in thus allowing people not to call out the mentality of troglodytes at the same time.
G Huxley Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 "A "cite" is not a person. "Cite" means link, source, or reference - like a newspaper."A person has cited something. If a person cites a crackpot claim logically it is because they themselves are a crackpot.
Michael Hardner Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 I disagree heartily. Many a person has fallen victim to the fake news site. I have done so myself. Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner

Yeah.......and when I say I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.......I'm not calling you a rube, many a person has fallen victim to the scam.

G Huxley Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) "I disagree heartily. Many a person has fallen victim to the fake news site. I have done so myself." Well then who is the crackpot? In that instance no one is a crackpot, (well maybe) because in that instance the fake news site was simply putting out fake news rather than believing in it.But what if the fake news site was operating out of a cave, why then they'd be troglodytes! and we can't have that term used on this forum. Charles Anthony Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 I have an idea! How about we all avoid using the term "crackpot" for a brief while? During that time, let us reflect upon its usage. We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>
Smallc Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 I have an idea! How about we all avoid using the term "crackpot" for a brief while? During that time, let us reflect upon its usage. Only a crackpot would say that. (please don't suspend me)

Big Guy Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 If you smoke crack, pot or any other illegal substance you may get a warning point! Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
G Huxley Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 I have an idea! How about we all avoid using the term "crackpot" for a brief while? During that time, let us reflect upon its usage. Why not just use the word troglodyte instead?
GostHacked Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 I disagree heartily. Many a person has fallen victim to the fake news site. I have done so myself. Do you know the difference between an advertisement, paid content and the news? Could you tell a fake story when you read it on CBC?
Argus Posted December 6, 2015 Author Report Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Nope. The cite is what I was referring to. Why is it okay for you to call a cite a crackpot cite but if I say the information someone got off such sites is crap I get a warning point and my post deleted? Michael Hardner Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Fair question. My answer is that your entire post was "That's crap." And this happened on a thread that had already deteriorated, hence the warning. Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Argus Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 (edited) Fair question. My answer is that your entire post was "That's crap." And this happened on a thread that had already deteriorated, hence the warning. How is 'that's crap" a personal insult? And if it wasn't, then which rule did I violate? I'd like to know, as a good, respectful member, so I don't do it again. And did everyone else get a warning? Charles Anthony Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 How is 'that's crap" a personal insult? It is not an insult. Rather, it is drive-by trolling that stifles the discussion. If you have nothing constructive to add to a discussion, do not post. We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>
Argus Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 It is not an insult. Rather, it is drive-by trolling that stifles the discussion. If you have nothing constructive to add to a discussion, do not post. I was disagreeing with the statement and thus inviting evidence to support it, which was not produced. GostHacked Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Ok, I guess it's time to ask, what is classified as an insult? This is getting really ridiculous.

On Guard for Thee Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I don't have faith anymore that any of my posts will NOT be deleted. I have no desire in posting any longer on this forum. It's disgraceful on the censorship. That's true. There are the usual suspects on here who carry on constantly with bigoted, racist comments, and that's fine. Call them out on it and, tag you're it. As a result, the place will likely be taken over by those types, and perhaps that is simply natural selection at work.
Michael Hardner Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I'd like to respond to the question of calling people 'bigots' and 'racists' directly. We've talked about it on here, and the way we address is this: it's an insult to call a person a name like that in almost all cases. If you are against bigotry and racism you should ask yourself the best way to express why that is. The answer is probably not just to tag somebody as racist or bigoted, but to explain very clearly your ideas on the topic. If you encounter another poster who admits to being racist or bigoted then go ahead and tag them and you won't be disciplined. For the others who express racist or bigoted opinions, but deny actually being racist - explain your thoughts on why their ideas (and not the person) reflect those kinds of biases. I don't see any racism or bigotry on this forum. People will make up whatever they want to make up. It's becoming to easy to cry racism every time one disagrees. It's simple laziness. Thankful to have become a free thinker.
Michael Hardner Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I don't see any racism or bigotry on this forum. Your opinion highlights how highly contentious this topic is. Many on here have complained about too much racism and bigotry, and others complain that the accusation is made against others too easily.
