Canada:

Gold & silver - sisters in the freestyle downhill skiing

Silver in team figure skating

Bronze in slopestyle snowboard

I only managed to watch the slopestyle ... challenging ordeal for Mark McMorris with a recently broken rib, but a satisfactory ending.

A Saskatchewan flat-plains skateboarder CAN become a world class downhill snowboarder, :D

They said he was being affectionately referred to as McRib! He did a heck of a job all things considered. And the 2 sisters from Quebec were tremendous. It was all great to see!

A great note from JOHN DOYLE, a television columnist at The Globe and Mail in Toronto:

If there was ever doubt that the United States is a complicated mess while Canada is simply cool (Rob Ford shenanigans aside), the issue is settled with the matter of the official athlete uniforms for the Sochi Olympics. Oh, America. What a jumble; what an eyesore. Those knit patchwork cardigans, apparently the work of Ralph Lauren, are eye-poppingly awful. It appears the patches were attached to oversize cardigans by people unlucky to be both colorblind and uncoordinated.

And he goes on to say:

Besides, who on earth wears a cardigan in midwinter? Canada’s athletes go to Sochi in simple, sensible cold-weather shmattes. Their duffle coats, pants, tuques, scarves and trapper hats, the creation of the Hudson’s Bay Company, are vaguely vintage in their clean lines and slim design. The red, white and black outfits also feature three iconic Canadian animals — the beaver, the polar bear and the loon. They are, in a word, chic. The United States outfits are, in a word, loony. We always believe we are better at winter sports, and we are about to prove it again in Sochi, possibly because we know how to dress for them.

As predicted. Sans that American Bobsled guy who apparently had to break out of a locked bathroom (Door looked like cardboard) people aren't talking about the conditions anymore.

Hockey players are showing up. We have stories like sisters winning Gold and Silver in Bump Skiing. That venue cluster looks fantastic and the mountain venues looks a lot better than they did in Vancouver (that's what 50 bil will get you.).

Its quite slimming ya know.

And that's important to the female athletes! ;) Just kidding of course.

Keep rolling Canada , two more medals and first back to back snowboard in the sport.

You mean Mougals right?

Canada pretty much dominates that sport.

If Quebec was a different nation they'd have 4 medals to the ROC's 3(I don't believe any of the Figure skating team was from Quebec). Cue the PQ fanning the flame of nationalism anytime now.

Assuming QC athletes would still be doing as well without the benefit of funding they currently receive from the feds.

Also assuming that QC athletes would actually complete for Quebec instead of moving to Canada.

How good would Quebec be at ice-hockey?

First...its Hockey.

Aint no other ! And besides, you sound American

To answer your question, not very good , better than some, but not most.

They'd have a good goalie or two, a couple of good forwards ....and thats it.

Good point Jacee! Imagine a black silhouette racing down the luge track!!! Intimidation I'd say!! Those other athletes will run the other way.
