waldo Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Is this alleged "bait" so irresistible that it cannot be ignored? Right, because 'Canada'. Can't you just go away now? Mission Accomplished? just ignore that "Canadian bait"! No, no... report and ignore it! . Quote
Derek 2.0 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I'm talking about a situation where, for example, I might present questionable evidence that all guns should be banned. You might try to counter that questionable evidence with contrary data. I would then gleefully continue presenting my questionable evidence, over and over again, while boasting how I have "certain members" on ignore and so, la-la-la, I can't hear you. I think it degrades the forum. Couldn’t members of the forum just ignore the both of us in such a scenario? Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Couldn’t members of the forum just ignore the both of us in such a scenario? Why not just prevent members from ignoring posts that contribute to a thread. Only allow ignores on personal messages. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Derek 2.0 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Why not just prevent members from ignoring posts that contribute to a thread. Only allow ignores on personal messages. I would think that obvious…..clearly some are unable to ignore those, sans a forum feature, that they find trollish….. Quote

Derek 2.0 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 They could. I think that's what's starting to happen. If that’s the case, in that those that find others trollish choose to ignore them, and said “troll” is no longer “fed”, wouldn’t said troll either stop trolling & move on or just be minumlized to such a point the/she is no longer an issue? BubberMiley Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 No, they still degrade the discussion whether I personally respond to them or not. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

bush_cheney2004 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 No, they still degrade the discussion whether I personally respond to them or not. No more than the personal attacks and oblique slurs posted by the poor, hard done by "troll" experts. If they cared that much about "degradation", they wouldn't do it. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
jbg Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 This is the point that I think the moderation is not understanding.I agree but I assume that "moderation" has/have day jobs. This is volunteer work and only to the extent it gives them enjoyment. Keep that in mind before we all whine too much. They want to run a political site for enjoyment and not for real discussion, then I question their motives for keeping the site going. I volunteered a decade to this site. Do I not deserve something in return to make this forum better? Quote

Given my nationality and the demands of work I cannot volunteer in that fashion but I think you would make a rather good facilitator or moderator. bush_cheney2004 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 We are all guests at this site regardless of nationality. Guests who constantly complain and make demands are tedious indeed. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Less members than here, but more active ones. I have banned people for much, much less. Because of the low tolerance, we do not have the issues we see here. Edited June 19, 2014 by GostHacked Quote
Bob Macadoo Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 You said you ignore trolls, as such, said trolls have no effect on your involvement in the forum.... correct? It creates lack of involvement in threads......I personally try to avoid Israeli and/or American threads, not because I have no interest, just to ignore trolls.....its tedious trying to contribute to threads trying to leapfrog trolls. What happens to trolls that nobody feeds? Of course “troll” is a subjective term…….what you might find tedious, could be a thought provoking and engaging discussion for others. So you feel others should be stifled or silenced because you might find some annoying or tedious? Edited June 20, 2014 by Derek 2.0 Quote

In recent posts I've asked... and re-asked, with the asks remaining outstanding. How about you have a go, hey! Quote
