On Guard for Thee Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Exactly what ? America does its best to entertain you in Canada, but you still have to pay attention. Well we have lot's to do up here without American entertainment, but then why don't you come up with a soap opera based on the Tea Party I know it already is a soap opera, but Ted Cruz reading Dr. Seuss is quite funny. There is no end to the material and you wouldn't need very smart actors. I think it would sell.. Quote
August1991 Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) BC, I disagree. Former U.S. Defense Sec'y Robert Gates dropped the bomb on President Obama in his new book 'Duty'...I obviously haven't read the book but I did read some right-wing exercpts, and Woodward's review. IMHO, Gates was surprisingly candid, and that's all. He put his chink in the wall of history. If I were Obama, I too would have had doubts about Afghanistan. ---- As to the (infamous) photo you posted above in this thread, it seems like a Hollywood test: who appears to be president? (According to you BC given the image, not Obama.) BC, Hollywood is image. Life is real. You Americans (right and left) seem too often to confuse this. Well, reality has its way of intruding. I suspect that in a few decades, we in the West will learn whether you Americans really know the difference. Edited January 9, 2014 by August1991 Quote
bleeding heart Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 while President Obama just had plain ole disdain and mistrust of the military. Why oh why can't he just "support the troops!" lol! Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
waldo Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 As to the (infamous) photo you posted above in this thread, it seems like a Hollywood test: who appears to be president? or the much talked about scene that had junior pushing ahead to ensure he's out in front during his "library" opening ceremony! I made no such comment about the image, but now you have. Congratulations. Please share one with PM Harper's "A Team" one day for all of us to enjoy in America. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
sharkman Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Saw PBS news last night, they covered Gate's book and I was interested to see what their slant would be. The only guy they could find(I guess on short notice) who had read the book was someone who was obviously not comfortable in front of the camera. Looking awkward and nervous, he said he thought the book was therapy for Gates, who doubled back in his writing of the book, whatever that means. I wondered if the guy belonged to one of those book clubs that meets in someone's living room and shares their feelings. Which reminds me, at least they found someone who had received an advance copy of the book and read it, as most negative responses seem to be responding to talking points. Quote
guyser Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Ted Cruz is Canadian. News to him ! Funny to watch him dance Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 Saw PBS news last night, they covered Gate's book and I was interested to see what their slant would be. NPR (radio) actually found some people who read the book and had insider experience. They confirmed the culture clash between the amped up U.S. military long at war and the new Obama administration not ready for what they had signed up for. Directing policy changes as "direct orders" was probably very insulting to the military brass and indicative of Obama/Biden inexperience. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
On Guard for Thee Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Ted Cruz is Canadian. Not for vewry much longer, thank God. Quote
guyser Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Not for vewry much longer, thank God. Perhaps not, but considering his abject ignorance on the subject....maybe he will be awhile longer. Of course anyone else would be able to figure it out in a few minutes, but not him. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 According to the interview I saw yesterday with Robert Gates, there was no bomb dropped on Obama at all. Apparently there was a little frothing at the mouth "gun jumping" down there. Quote
BubberMiley Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 According to the interview I saw yesterday with Robert Gates, there was no bomb dropped on Obama at all. His interview with Jon Stewart was pretty funny where he commented on the Republicans who take a few lines from the book and try and make it seem like a big anti-Obama screed. I thought he must have been reading this forum. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

I imagine the Stewart one was a bit more humorous but in any case it seems that this so called "bomb" was more like a minor blip. Quote
Shady Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 You guys seem to be talking about it the most. Quote
