betsy Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) Guys, the warnings are just a way of keeping track any time the moderators communicate with you. The amount of warnings does not necessarily relate to bannings or suspensions. Those are always handled on a case-by-case basis. At least that's what it appears like. Besides that's the only fair way to handle it. Do you get a "big" warning that you're about to be suspended or banned....or you just suddenly find out you're suspended or banned? Like you're trying to log in and you can't because you're banned? Edited November 17, 2012 by betsy Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 No "big" warning....your posting rights will be suspended for a designated time period but not your log-in. An e-mail message will be sent to your account's address describing the action and offense. Appeals to the mods are neither desired or effective. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Sleipnir Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 How would you know if a user is suspended? I see nothing on Weber's or Manny's profile to suggest they're suspended. Quote "All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure." - Mark Twain

Argus Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) I meant suspended Unless they say so in the status updates the only way you can infer someone is suspended is when they aren't posting. For certain members, such as myself, not posting anything for weeks at a time is a pretty good indication I'm suspended ... or dead I guess. Guest Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 For what would a person be suspended? How about banned? I understand Mr Canada was banned, but the posts I read of his in the short time I have been here seemed pretty harmless. Quote

eyeball Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 I think he was banned for what he said in the chatroom during the presidential election. Maybe. I also wonder how many banning's that occur around here are a result of crossing a line somewhere in a private response to a moderator that's in the process of warning or suspending you. Was it just me or did anyone else get a PM from Mr Canada thanking them for getting him suspended? Strangely enough I notice I can't link to the PM he sent me although I still have a copy of the notification that was emailed to me. Who knows what's really going on behind the scenes? Most likely you can't link to it because he's been banned, so his account doesn't exist as an active account any more. Edited November 18, 2012 by American Woman Quote
eyeball Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) I missed the chat-room melt-down that apparently got him banned which must have occurred after he messaged me. Doesn't it seem a little odd that suspended members can still send PM's and enter the chat room during a suspension?
