The teenager, clad in an Islamic female’s traditional garb of a burka, headscarf and facial covering, shopped in three different LCBO stores north of Toronto last Wednesday. In each location, the Grade 8 student paid cash for a bottle of Sambuca liqueur. Edited July 24, 2012 by The Right One
The_Squid
LOL There are going to be a lot of burka-wearing teens showing up in liquor stores!!
Michael Hardner
I love the term "run amok" ! Anyway, this is a funny story. I'm sure that sambuca has already been vomited onto a basement shag run somewhere...
Boges
I feel bad for the Clerks here. Had they asked the kid to take off the Burqa they'd have probably been disciplined for not being PC. Now that the story is out I wonder what will happen to them. Wait Lickbo employees are Unionized public servants, they can't do anything that'll get them fired. I am sure teens everywhere are trying to get their hands on Burqua's as we speak.

Right. 14 year old pimply teen: "Excuse me, ma'am but could you take off your dress please ?" Manager: "Not politically correct, son, you are fired." GostHacked
Right. 14 year old pimply teen: "Excuse me, ma'am but could you take off your dress please ?" msj
Not really sure what the story is supposed to prove. Here in BC there was a story on the news a month or so ago about various liquor stores (government and private) that sold to a minor (the government does their own testing from time to time). The kid didn't have to wear anything out of the ordinary and managed to buy liquor at numerous locations without being ID'd. BFD. Do the "sting" operations, let the stores know, expect them to enforce policy, and then check them again in the future. Once again, BFD. TheNewTeddy
Devout Muslims buying booze...lol. This is my reaction. Anyone religious enough to wear a burqa would not, normally, buy alcohol. I would question the person on that account.

AngusThermopyle
Devout Muslims buying booze...lol. They're not allowed to consume the fermented product of the grape or grain. Sambuca is made from licourice root and is permissable to them. I imagine that potato Vodka is also allowed. This is why he bought Sambuca as it is not out of the norm. Anyone religious enough to wear a burqa would not, normally, buy alcohol. I would question the person on that account. Okay, here we go again. The Burqa is not required by their religion, it is a cultural practise. This has been mentioned many many times in the past on these forums. gunrutz
I can't believe you posted that in response to my fanciful dialogue. The whole story is ridiculous. Yea. it is ridiculous that we are so afraid of these people that we won't even ask to see their faces before we sell them a controlled substance. Whats worse is that it isn't even them we are afraid of, it's the 'progressives', those who tell us our culture, our way of doing things, needs to take a back seat to other cultures in our country lest we offend. When you defend practices like these that is exactly what you are doing. Edited July 25, 2012 by gunrutz

You're afraid of progressives ? Don't be. I might point out that this so-called news article didn't appear in a serious paper, it was the Toronto Sun. Now there's a serious implication of this issue where a woman tried to testify in court with her face covered and the Supreme Court heard arguments about that last year. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/12/08/niqab-supreme-court-canada_n_1136295.html The Supreme Court of Canada heard arguments Thursday in the case of a woman who wants to testify in court while wearing a niqab, in a legal matter that pits religious rights against the right of defendants. The woman, identified only as N.S., wants to wear her niqab a veil-type cloth that covers all of her face, except her eyes during testimony against two male relatives in a sexual assault case in Ontario. The woman is the complainant in the case, and made the request to wear her niqab based on her Muslim beliefs. The defendants, however, say they should be able to see the facial expressions of N.S. for the purpose of cross-examination. A preliminary inquiry judge ordered that she remove her niqab before testifying, but an Ontario Superior Court judge later quashed that order. Well NOW Magazine a predominant left-wing Toronto magazine is notorious for showing prostitution ads, sorry escort ads. If you're that offended by the Sunshine Girls fine. But it doesn't mean the reporters and columnists are any less professional. Well David Menzies isn't terribly professional but it's his schick. Yet, I like the Globe and Mail and hate The Star. Sorry, Shady, but you're trying to retrofit an ideology on my choices where it doesn't fit. How many liberal papers do you enjoy, by the way ?
