Shakeyhands Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 During yesterdays Canada Day celebration on The Hill there was quite a bit of horse manure just in front of the review stand. When Johnston came off the reviewing stand and reviewed the Guard, he returned to have Harper lean in and laughingly make a comment about the RCMP IED's on the road... At first i thought it was kind of humorous but then thought about those Canadians who had family, sons and daughters, that have been killed or maimed by IED's in Afghanistan. What must they have thought? So was it tasteless? Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Shakeyhands Posted July 2, 2012 Author Report Posted July 2, 2012 no... Pretty quick response... Did you take a moment to think about it at all? No is a fine answer if that is how you feel, but... Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Rick Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 A piece of **** cracking a joke about a pile of ****. I'd say it was fitting seeing as where it came from. Was it tasteless, I suppose you'd have to ask the families of all the dead soldiers who have died in Afghanistan under his watch. Quote “This is all about who you represent,” Mr. Dewar (NDP) said. “We’re (NDP) talking about representing the interests of working people and everyday Canadians and they [the Conservatives] are about representing the fund managers who come in and fleece our companies and our country. Signals.Cpl Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 So was it tasteless? Not at all. Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
Rick Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Shakey, let me save you the time here. All of Harper's minions as you're already seeing here will dutifully line and up, swear allegiance to their idol and defend him to their last breathe and say no, it wasn't tasteless. The ones who should be asked are the families of those who have lost their lives from IED's. I'd bet they wouldn't find it so funny as the Harper minions do. Shady Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Did you take a moment to think about it at all? Well, what was the joke? Is there video, audio, or at least a story about it? Quote
Shady Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Any source? Good question. This is one of the more useless threads in a long time. Quote

Man, I swear you would blame Harper for bad weather! You always take it over the top and into the irrational. Perhaps you should get counseling. I think even Jack would have been leery about having you on his team, for fear you would get them all tarred with the same brush... You make the Taliban look like free thinkers! Guest Derek L Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) I’m more than willing to give Shakeyhands the benefit of the doubt on providing a source…….but if true, I think it’s a lame attempt at political “sniping”…….I mean, what dog owner has never had to contend with “land mines” in their backyard, or parent walking through their children’s “crow’s feet” (Lego) late at night? Or what about when watching a sporting event on TV when the commentators refer to both teams engaging in a real “battle”, or Power & Politics “firing line”……….As I’ve said, this is just lame, and this entire thread should be “torpedoed”…… Edited July 2, 2012 by Derek L Quote

Shakeyhands Posted July 2, 2012 Author Report Posted July 2, 2012 Good question. This is one of the more useless threads in a long time. I saw on Live TV, I'll search the CBC and see if I can find it. How is it useless? The two men, Natynczyk and Harper made what, after I thought about it, a rather tasteless joke caught on live tv. Should they be called out on it or not? Getting Booster Club responses so far... Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Michael Hardner Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 How so? Liberals and Conservatives arguing about horse poo. That pretty much says it all. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
eyeball Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Ive spend time with infanteers who have been through that, and they joke about IED's if the soldiers can, why can't anyone else? Yeah, I imagine firing off M18's must be a real blast. For all we know Johnston and Harper were joking about new RCMP tactics in the war on everything they hate. I bet if I go look I'll find them in Bill C38. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Maybe they can, as I said, at first I thought it was funny.... What though must the families thought, was it an insensitive thing to say, do these people have a certain expectation that every single word they say is going to be made public? I just pointed out something that some might be bothered by... perhaps even the hundreds of people that line the bridges along the 401 and DVP? What though must the families thought, was it an insensitive thing to say, do these people have a certain expectation that every single word they say is going to be made public? It was a joke, plain and simple nothing more nothing less. Unless it was directly related as in making fun of the soldiers who died, I cannot see the fault in a simple joke. Moonlight Graham Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 I don't think it's tasteless. In the pinch of a moment you can't think of everything.
