WWWTT Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 One culture had an advantage in numbers, in technology and in military capacity. Actually I believe the Europeans put more emphasis in sea travel and trade and were better at exploiting/recognizing foreign advancements! Beyond that I would not give them any more credit then that! Wild Bill Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Tell me why he deserves it? IT could be that ALL Commonwealth leaders may get knighted to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, then its just about the celebration or the Queen LIKES him and not because he deserves it. It is not up to you or I to decide if Harper deserves it. It is for the Queen to decide. Somehow, the fact that you don't like him is not likely to be a part of her decision. Quote "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." -- George Bernard Shaw "There is no point in being difficult when, with a little extra effort, you can be completely impossible."
dre Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 I wouldnt read to much into this. Knighthood is just a meaningless and entirely masturbatory vehicle for elites to celebrate themselves. People should just ignore this kind of shit, and if they dont its their own problem. Also... Im not sure if you can blame Mr Harper simply because its his turn to get jacked off. Best you can do is just make sure you dont get hit in the face. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
cybercoma Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 And one culture ate people. But let's ignore that. You mean the one that had the ceremonies around drinking the blood and eating the body of their Christ, while slaughtering and abusing others into submission to that faith? Quote
Argus Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 You mean the one that had the ceremonies around drinking the blood and eating the body of their Christ, while slaughtering and abusing others into submission to that faith? Every faith slaughtered and abused others. But at least the Europeans of that time weren't eating each other. And you can't say the same of the natives in America. Cannibalism would seem to me to be a fairly solid reason why you could call someone a savage. g_bambino Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Rumour is that Harper may be knighted!!!! The FIRST PM of Canada to be charge with contempt of Parliament is going to be knighted? It must be a rumour only issue! I thought Canadians couldn't be. http://www.bourque.org/ BTW, look to the upper left of page to see this. Uh.. That's quite a rumour from a not very reliable source. And likely a rumour it will stay. Quote
g_bambino Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Yah good for him he will be rolling back Canadian independence signal handedly. I've already said a knighthood is unlikely to be bestowed on Harper. But, I wonder, what does the Nickle Resolution have to do with independence? Quote

Historians have also made it pretty clear that cannibalism wasn't as common as you're making it out to be either. Today, Europeans just like to screw their meals in the ass before they eat it and post it on the internet. Savages. Edited June 4, 2012 by cybercoma Quote

August1991 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) The term "savages" is so culturally laden to be meaningless, let alone the ignorance arrogance of assessing the culture of your ancestors to be superior to others.Who cares about laden meanings, that's what they were. Read Elizabeth Hanson's report or rent Black Robe.Ummmm....syphilis is a gift from North America to the rest of the planet. Plus, variola does not spread via blanket. It spreads by human contact.Good point. Link. Then again, the New World also brought tomatoes and potatoes to Europe. Edited June 4, 2012 by August1991 Quote

August1991 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Whoooo man this comment is so freekin biased and spun!!!Not to mention calling native Canadians "savage" is very questionable! Ever heard of the Mayans? .... Try multiplying 836454 x 8434 without the use of a calculator OR without the use of zero! Who's the savage now buddy! WWWTT WWWTT, I am tired of westerners who denigrate their own history. Galileo, Newton and Einstein (to name three) changed the world.I'm sorry but Mayans never bothered to colonize the world with their knowledge. And if they had, we would now in 2012 still be building pyramids, and sacrificing virgins from them. You mean the one that had the ceremonies around drinking the blood and eating the body of their Christ, while slaughtering and abusing others into submission to that faith?More self-hate. Cybercoma, the North American Left hurts itself when it denigrates western culture and life. Quote

Fletch 27 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) This would be great for Steve Harper and another testament to the right direction Canadians have pointed this government in. Great news and let's all hope it happens! Edited June 4, 2012 by Fletch 27 Quote
cybercoma Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 If it does happen, it will look really bad for the monarchy, unless there's a very good non-political reason for it. Quote
bleeding heart Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 I wouldnt read to much into this. Knighthood is just a meaningless and entirely masturbatory vehicle for elites to celebrate themselves. I agree. It's silly. I'm sure Sir Elton John and Sir Salman Rushdie would dispute this, and opine that Knighthoods prove that they're freakin' awesome....but then, you've already answered that quite nicely, Dre. bleeding heart Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) Until the day they offer "Sir dre" with all the trappings. I would encourage Dre to scoff at it, and he very well might.
