cybercoma Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Read the article here Harris-Decima puts the CPC @ 34% and the NDP @ 32%. It seems Mulcair was the best choice. Let's see if it sticks. Quote

TheNewTeddy Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Meh. This is nothing. The NDP has been tied (tied-tied, not "close to being tied") with the Tories in two polls already in the past week and another last week, and, another just after Layton died. Let me know when the NDP is in first. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!

Wild Bill Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Forum research poll puts the NDP and Conservatives in a tie at 35% each. Hey, they just put on a circus! Of course they had a big bounce in the polls! Let's revisit your post in a month or two and see what it looks like. Jerry J. Fortin Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 All of this makes me very happy that there is no election on the horizon. Lets see what the numbers look like in a few more years. There is nothing we can do short of making a case for resignation. I have the feeling that if he can be tagged once, he will go down hard. Harper is no superman by any stretch of the imagination, but he is very much an astute opportunist. I do think he has a glass jaw though, maybe the F-35 is the uppercut needed to find out. Quote
Topaz Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 I've been told by someone that he Tories are worried about the NDP leader because there's nothing in the closet for them to go after and he has a lot of experience in politics. That's probably why no attack ads and with both, the Liberals and the Tories going after each other they make the NDP, sound like the only clean and honest federal party, BUT anything could happen along the way to 2015. I expect the Tories will soon tar Mulcair with some innuendo before too long. Probably something sexual, illicit and entirely unprovable in nature. Red meat for the base - raw and bloody. Moonbox Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 What's the use of polls 3 years away from an election? These are less than meaningless. Quote "A man is no more entitled to an opinion for which he cannot account than he does for a pint of beer for which he cannot pay" - Anonymous
mentalfloss Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 What's the use of polls 3 years away from an election? These are less than meaningless. Not at all. It's good to keep up with trends. You can always refer back to spikes and dips and the basis for either. It's also a good reflection of the present state of support. Quote
PIK Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 And when the lection does happen and people start to pay attention again, the NDP will drop like a rock. Once they start talking of gutting the military, closing down the oil sands and letting the unions run the country even more then they do now, it will be over. Moonbox Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 This is a load of fear mongering. It's exaggeration, but there's some basis for it. There's also a lot of history showing how much lower the NDP's support turns out to be come election time. Evening Star Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) I like the use of "coming to light" there, as if it had actually been a secret that the NDP tends to favour spending on social programmes and is not always that gung-ho about military spending; only now are we beginning to truly uncover this hidden agenda. To be fair they are gung-ho about military spending when it is done right. The Ships that are going to be built in Canada that were just announced, the NDP has been talking about a national ship building strategy for like 10 years it just took the Conservatives that long to clue in there was support for it. Coming to light, perhaps not for political junkies, but for Canadians who have only just started to pay serious attention to the NDP and their policy leanings. It's in that sense.
