cybercoma Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Obviously, they're not, and I don't see why they should be. They aren't Canadians. So then you want to take healthcare away from every landed immigrant in the country, even if they work and pay taxes? Edited April 1, 2012 by cybercoma Quote
Smallc Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) So then you want to take healthcare away from every landed immigrant in the country? That's not what I said, and you know that's not what I said. Landed immigrants though, are not entitled to anything, including staying in this country. IF their taxes and their productivity do not outweigh their drain on society, then we don't need them, especially when we've brought them in for economic purposes. stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I think there was more to this story than what has been reported. Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
bush_cheney2004 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Obviously, they're not, and I don't see why they should be. They aren't Canadians. Even Canadian kids have a tough going in cheapskate Ontariario...from last year I recall: ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - A 20-month-old Canadian boy with an incurable neurological disorder whose life was extended in the United States after a Canadian hospital declined further treatment, has died at his Ontario home, a family spokesman said on Wednesday. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
cybercoma Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 You said they're not entitled to the same coverage as everyone else because "they're not Canadian." Well, landed immigrants don't have their Canadian citizenship, so are they not entitled to coverage? How about international students? Should we deport them if they get sick while they're here studying? They're not Canadians AND they're not working. Quote
madmax Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Obviously, they're not, and I don't see why they should be. They aren't Canadians. Correct.. And I think we can split hairs all day on this. The Conservatives didn<t kick them ... immigration did.. and I think they made a bonehead call. But its not a life and death issue.. and no one is loosing anysleep over this. I think its stupid.. One thing is for certain.. their young daughter IS a Canadian Citizen.. although.. I think their is a law now that can remove your citizenship if you don<t return to the country after a certain period of time... I have worked with autistic kids and adults... Its a tough call unless you know the particulars. I honestly couldn<t see the net loss considering their employment... it doesn<t get much better and I would say they could handle the highest costs of having an autistic child.. infact they can and will in the US. But going by the guidelines is what beauracrats do.. that means they don<t have to think .. its just a meatchart. Quote

No they are not entitled to coverage, but it is granted to them as part of their permanent residency. Quote

The parents though distraught were keeping that baby alive and in pain when the only humane thing to do was just to say goodbye.. but they thought God would save him..waiting for a miracle.. when there ain't no such thing as miracles The parents were wrong there Quote Don't ban me bro. cybercoma Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 it is granted to them as part of their permanent residency. Semantic games? Really? Their permanent residency entitles grants them healthcare. Quote
Shady Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 That's just ridiculous. Hardly surprising its an academic affected by this. Harper hates academia. Harper Derangement Syndrome. Quote

As for landed immigrants, it depends on their status. Regardless, in Ontario, there's a 3 month wait until they can be eligible. Quote

stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 No they weren't...they just had to find the right country. Actually they were hypocrites The couple also stated that, if their son was able to live longer due to the procedure, he would die "when God says he should Except that he was only alive because of respirator, It wasn't God deciding when he died, it was the parents Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 And not to mention the crazy father who said this "I made a promise to my son: I will give you back your human rights and dignity if you pass away or not...Fly and tell God about what happened with you and about the doctor that tried to kill you. Your life touched the world." If anyone should be deported it should be this family.. they live off the mothers disability cheques (she has Lupus) and they are from Lebanon Send these people back .. and keep the Americans Is that a deal Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
Smallc Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Semantic games? Really? Their permanent residency entitles grants them healthcare. It isn't a semantics argument. Immigrants aren't entitled to the healthcare provided in Canadian provinces. Quote
Shady Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 It isn't a semantics argument. Immigrants aren't entitled to the healthcare provided in Canadian provinces. Exactly. Some people don't understand that health care eligibility is based mostly on residency. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 ...Except that he was only alive because of respirator, It wasn't God deciding when he died, it was the parents Correct, it wasn't decided by the doctors or bureaucrats in Ontario, which was the entire point of the exercise. These Americans will come home with their Canadian daughter but could preserve her provincial health care status by returning every six months. What a joke. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Correct, it wasn't decided by the doctors or bureaucrats in Ontario, which was the entire point of the exercise. It wasn't decided by "God" either like he said it was. He interfered in the natural dying process when he took Joseph to the U.S to get a trach. He's a brain washed lunatic They had another baby die from the same thing prior to this.. and its genetic.. and they blame the doctors for not telling them it would happen again! amazing how religion breeds ignorance Edited April 1, 2012 by stopstaaron Quote Don't ban me bro. MACKER Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Thoughts? he must have been liberal. they are both professionals one less Canadian nurse position in the US I suppose. I think a requirement of them requiring private health insurance for their kid etc.. probably had it through his position. None the less stuff like this is unfortunate even when it happens to americans cause god knows they are total nazi's down south too. Unfortunate when red tape gets in the way of liberty but america is 100x the injustice canada is regardless. Edited April 1, 2012 by MACKER Quote
dre Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Seems like a stupid decision. My Canada would welcome people like this... skilled professionals with lots to contribute, in fields that are in demand, from a country of origion with a culture very compatible to ours. jacee Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 People with autism may be better at processing information Maybe they're making a mistake! Also I couldn't find any info reported on health costs for autistic kids. Not sure how the feds make the call without justifying it cost-wise. I wonder where they draw the line ... Do they let in kids with allergies? Do they test them for leukemia? Headaches? Psoriasis? Where are the criteria for such decisions? Why aren't applicants told these rules in advance? Quote
WWWTT Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Ok I'm going to jump into this thread going on the information I read here assuming the details are true. First off immigration Canada is the worst, slowest, buratich, heartless, cruel and vicious branch/service of government regardless of provincial municipal or federal level! There is none worse than immigration! They think they are above the citizens of Canada and treat them like scum. They have an heir of entitlement and are untouchable! And they only answer to conservative MPs(because they are in government) so therefore ultimately Harper IS responsible for their actions! From what I read here the child with autism was born here. And since environmental conditions may have influenced this child to develop such condition(the possibility is there) the Canadian government has a responsibility here. Aswell there are many things that may have influence in this case that we do not know.Did this couple contact their MP?Or legal council?Did immigration actually tell them "hey your Canadian born child has an expensive medical bill and the taxes your paying doesn't cover it so out you go"?Or was there another reason they have to leave? There are too many unkowns here so I will leave it at that. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!
