say what! Elections Canada... sworn affidavit... Harper Conservative MP Dean Del Mastro’s election campaign filed a “false document” to Elections Canada! Say it ain't so, Dean Del Mastro... say it ain't so! But hey now! I thought Dean Del Mastro was Harper's point-man... the face of the accountable, transparent... and ever so innocent Harper Conservatives. Oh my! Time to bring in/back Pierre Poilievre.

I agree...

I'm thinkin' 3D Deano is going to be fairly silent from here on out and we will now be faced with "Weasel Boy" Poilievre to blither blather the Tory talking points...

well, yes... as anticipated, Pierre Poilievre has picked up the DDM slack! Now, certainly, there was skepticism over the credibility of DDM's repeated claims that he was being treated unfairly... that he wasn't even aware of an Elections Canada investigation into his election campaign. Oh, wait... what's this?:

New documents call into question Del Mastro’s claim he was unaware of Elections Canada investigation

I'm just left wondering why "elections Canada" hasn't said anything as of late.. Could it be that there is no cause for an investigation? Sure would be nice to have transparency.. Seems like its a dead case? Sure would like to see if the "smoke" was the root of any "fire"? Or... Maybe there was no substance to this....

You have continually insisted that there is tremendous substance to it...all pointing directly at Jack Layton's likely machinations.

The Good Ship Del Mastro is sinking slowly.

The amount of corruption in this government is staggering from election fraud to procurement issues to patronage. They'll be uncovering dirty little secrets for years after these clowns leave office.

Time for Dean to relinquish his seat in Parliament. It's the only Honourable thing to do.

Deano's a car salesman from Peterborough,Ontario...

Car salesman and (H)honourable are exactly synonomous...

(Not trying to denigrate anyone from Peterborough at all)

Even though this doesn't have any connection as yet to the topic of robocalling, I rather keep about elections under one forum. This is about the Tories vs the liberal than lost in the Toronto area. I feel IF they is ANY doubt, a byelection should be called but probably there won't be but the next election, tougher penalties and better training of inside workers especially with new voters, making sure they are on the voters list to vote and everyone should do their part to call Election Canada to make that clear. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/canada-court-tackles-election-26-vote-margin-201516493.html

Perhaps Leadnow and the NDP are working on a generic email campaign to flood Elections Canada with "contacts", urging EC to do a better job training their election workers. ;)

Move over Dean.... you got company...

----------------------------

Penashue took out a $25,000 loan from the Innu Development Limited Partnership to finance his federal election campaign in Labrador in 2011.

On Wednesday, CBC reported that Paul Rich, the former CEO of the IDLP, took home more than $1 million in salary over two years, and other Innu leaders were paid $30,000 each to sit on the board of the company.

Elections Canada documents said the loan was interest free, but a spokesperson for Penashue said that information was a typo, and the actual interest rate for the loan was seven per cent.

Another riding settled by less than 100 votes as well... 50 something rejected.

Harper Conservatives lose another battle... :)

The Federal Court is letting a challenge proceed regarding the 2011 election results in seven ridings across the country.

A group of voters, backed by the Council of Canadians, wants the court to overturn the results because of allegations of misleading phone calls that attempted to send voters to the wrong polling stations.

Overturning the results would mean a byelection in each riding.

The seven Conservative MPs who won those seats had asked the court to dismiss the case before it went to a full hearing.

Prothonotary Martha Milczynski heard the case on June 25. In her ruling, she says the applications to dismiss the election results raise serious issues about the integrity of the democratic process.

The applications identify practices that, “if proven, point to a campaign of activities that would seek to deny eligible voters their right to vote,” Milczynski said.

A prothonotary is a full judicial officer who has many of the powers and functions of Federal Court judges. Prothonotaries handle case management, mediation and practice motions.

once again - the nefarious CPC with their secret agenda.

Thats not a secret agenda. Its taking the position of blocking Elections Canada Information from the courts. Perhaps its irrellavent info, perhaps its embarrasing information.

As Fantino is so prone to say... if you have nothing to hide, you shouldn't be afraid of disclosing information to the courts.

The Conservatives are now trying to obstruct the courts by withholding evidence that they admit is relevant

What evidence?! There is no any evidence.

The situation is very simple.

The CoC is arguing that Election Canada might find some evidence for them in future. Conservatives say, let's start the trial.

Proceeding with this frivolous case just indicates the sad state of the Canadian court system. No evidence required. Accused must wait indefinitely for the accuser to present his case. A miniscule probability of wrongdoing is addmitted by a judge as a proof of guilt.

Well the courts do run the country, you did not think it was the goverment that did?

sweeping Elections Canada investigation! Oh... really?

Elections Canada has reported it is investigating reports of fraudulent and deceptive calls across Canada, but court documents made public Monday show investigators have not sought phone or Internet records for any calls beyond Guelph, Ont., raising a question about how vigorously the agency is looking into reports from voters.

now some, possibly even the waldo, thought Elections Canada might effectively be neutered when Harper hand selected/appointed Yves Cote as the new Commissioner of Canada Elections, responsible for overseeing the robocalls investigation......

I think the EC has just realized the hole they are digging and it is time to stop. Enough of the witch hunts.
