It is funny how as soon as the backdrop from the mass media occurs no one cares the government that replaced gaddaffi is just a tortureous and contrary to human rights as the one before it...

so the murder and carnage didn't stop with NATOs bombs

where is the democracy, humanrights and good conditions...

where are the elections... just more military dictatorship?

Very true, I think that this was one of the worst cases of toppling a dictator in recent history. Why did they intervene? The reasons given were nonsense, because Syria has done much worse and has not been touched.

It's not going to happen over night. Gaddaffi has spent 40 years destroying his government there are no government departments, institutions everything has to be built from scratch. You can't expect to happen right away.

Aren't they on the verge of passing an electoral law?

You mean the 40 years of reforming the country to one of the most prosperous countries in Africa. Oil profits went back into the country to build the civilian infrastructure. The aquifer project took over a decade to build and they did it mostly on their own without outside help. Many of us saw the consequences of taking out Gadhafi, while the exact same thing happened in Bahrain, but the USA let the Saudi's take care of that.

Libya will not be as good as it was under Gadhafi for at least 50 + years.

So, why has Syria not been invaded yet when the same things have been going on there for just as long.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder how long Syria will be allowed to act this way, or if the West feels it's out of their hands.

Egypt is still going through this as well. Protests and riots since Mubarek was kicked out are still happening as well. But you got to wonder why it's not reported like the Arab Spring was reported on last year, it's still going on!

You think Gadaffi was bad wait a bit longer. Now that the steam is off Lybia lets invade another country in the name of "democracy" to improve human rights and what have you. Krikey, you would think the indigenous population of Lybia had it easy.

Whaaaaaaa? It's not Israels fault? It usually is. For years the 'world'-UN- EU polls and such have blamed Israel for any upheavals in the Middle East or world threat. Now there is no apparent Jewish influence in Syria-Egypt- Libya- or the other "Arab Spring" events. It's sectarian or political factions within the countries. But, I don't see the EU polls now opining on the danger from Arab up risings.

It is becoming more apparent that extremists like the Muslim Brotherhood are gaining political strength.

That can be very bad for the West, Israel, the average moderate and democracy. Sharia laws and fundamental Islam will rule.

I think that Arab countries like Syria and Libya and Egypt are threats to world peace, not to mention the odd Persian and Turk threat.

How Turkey became a member of NATO is beyond my understanding.

Sometimes when I look around ans see who the 'friends are, Turkey in NATO! Pakistan an ally ! I feel like a a Trojan welcoming a gift horse.

Israel will have enough on it's plate for border security with the present Egyptian political situation.

The average person in the West doesn't have enemies. The word has been pretty much PC'd away. It's all a big happy pot-pourrie of equalness now. Get with the program...or report for reprograming if needed.

:)

It's your government that is telling you, that you have enemies. If you want to believe in that, then that might be a personal issue.

No...these countries took sides against my country's intrests over the years. Plus, since I grew up in a 'government family' (Mom a big shot in the PC party during the Mul-loony days and earlier), I have a different POV than you as to who tells who what.

Why did they intervene?

1 for those Europion political leaders like Nicolas Sarkozy, considering the catastrophic economical/financial situation of the countries they ruled, what could they do to show their voters their strength and ability of leadership except going into a "winable" war?

2 as for Barack Obama, considering his clumsy effort to make any "change" in his country as he promised to his voters, what would he do better than following Bush's old way to "change" the world? :P

3 as for Stephen Harper, maybe the conservative "economist" boss thought another war in the oil riched region would rise oil price and CAD...etc, so his oil riched political home province would gain from the situation?

4 as for media "writers", they just want to exploit more "stories" for selling their papers. More wars, more human right issues, more news, more readers, more money....

So another few thousand Libyans drown as they try to escape from that hell hole we created by getting involved in their civil war. All those bombs we dropped sure fixed things - didn't they?

So we continue to screw up Iraq and Syria. If that doesn't work we are already in Ukraine so maybe we can turn that civil war into another World War.

We just never seem to learn.
