kimmy Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 It looks like the Habs are moving on to round 2. The Sharks looked awesome. I don't think anybody would have expected the Kings to get rolled that badly in two straight games. Of course, the Sharks have a history of screwing up when it comes to the playoffs, so they better not be getting fitted for the rings just yet. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
DFCaper Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Cuz if the Leafs fart everyone has to hear about it. Welcome to TO ! Heard this weekend that the NHL Board of governers was not happy with going only with SportsNet for NHL games. The problem was that after numerious complaints from non-Leaf teams about the heavy Bias towards the leafs from CBC and TSN, they decided to give it a try. It will be interesting to see if SportsNet will have a less bias coverage.. guyser Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Its all about the money. If Edmonton or Calgary or even Van could generate the eyeballs...which = $$$ then they would be on all the time. Thye dont, and thats why Leaf games will be the lead team. Doesnt matter if they suck to the money men. Quote
Boges Posted April 21, 2014 Author Report Posted April 21, 2014 BTW since we're talking generic hockey, it would have taken every bit of will-power in my body to not beat Milan Lucic to within an inch if he had hit me in the nads with a stick like he did Friday night. What an Asshat! Quote

I don't think he's scared that anybody on the Red Wings would try and pummel him. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Thye dont, and thats why Leaf games will be the lead team. Doesnt matter if they suck to the money men. Those teams are on all the time, all their games have been televised for years on at least three networks: TSN, Sportsnet or CBC. Of course, nobody from TO would be aware of the existence of regional broadcasts. But that doesn't change the nature of sports highlight shows on TV: all of them focus on interesting topics like the lines at Leafs practcies, or the state of Reimers bunions. Heard this weekend that the NHL Board of governers was not happy with going only with SportsNet for NHL games. Don't know if that is true, it is a massive contract that will mean all those governors get lots more money than before. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
guyser Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Those teams are on all the time, all their games have been televised for years on at least three networks: TSN, Sportsnet or CBC.Sure they are. We know that . But the big time slots is what I was referring to, like CBC Sat night games. The ones that make the big bucks ! Of course, nobody from TO would be aware of the existence of regional broadcasts.Sure they are aware. Even the odd (very odd of course)Leaf game is only shown regionally. But very few since putting them on the Nat'l feed makes them a lot more money than say the Sens or Oilers. Black Dog Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 The Leafs have extended Carlyle. I'm starting to feel bad for Leafs fans. Quote
Black Dog Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 But no 'too' bad though....right ? Nope. The extension will make the demands for his firing halfway through the year even more hilarious. Quote
overthere Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 The Leafs have extended Carlyle. I'm starting to feel bad for Leafs fans. But they fired the Leafs assistants. The assistants should blame themselves. They should have gotten jobs with the Oilers. Assistance coaches there have lifetime tenure with no relationship between results and job security. Meanwhile, I've been attending the Edmonton Oil Kings/Portland Winterhawks Western Hockey League final. It is the third year in a row these two teams have met in the WHL final. Tremendous, inspirational hockey games. Portland won the first two games with their high speed all out attack style. (portland had a recent record of 42-3 entering this final round!!!) The third game was a nailbiter won by Edmonton. Edmonton has won the next two by shutting down the potent high powered Hawks offence and scoring opportunistic goals. Game 6 tomorow in Edmonton. I'll be there. These young men play like their hair is on fire, every shift. NHL take note. Series winner goes to the Memorial Cup. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

kimmy Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 I am pretty amazed by the Habs. I figured (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) that once the big bad black-and-gold machine started rolling, they'd bulldoze right through Montreal just like they did to Detroit. But that sure was not the case. I am blown away by how well they are playing. Carey Price looks like he is in Olympic form right now. PK Subban is a force, regardless what people might think of his ... "exuberant" nature. And they are getting huge performances from a lot of guys who aren't exactly household names, like Tomas Plekanec. He's been around for a long time but I never really thought he was very good until watching him these playoffs. Many other lesser names are contributing as well. I see that the Oil Kings have won the WHL championship series against Portland, which is cool. The Oilers, Eskimos, and Golden Bears are all dog crap, but at least the Oil Kings are winners. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Boges Posted May 15, 2014 Author Report Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) It's often said that you only hate athletes because they wear a different uniform. That's usually true. . . BUT!!! I can't say I'd ever support this guy Milan Lucic. He goes from squaring people with his stick to this. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/dale-weise-claims-milan-lucic-threatened-him-1.2643621 During the post-series handshake line after the Montreal Canadiens defeated Boston 3-1 in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinal, Habs forward Dale Weise claimed Bruins bruiser Milan Lucic threatened him, as well as teammate Alexei Emelin. "I'm going to [bleepin] kill you next year," was what Lucic reportedly said to Weise. In watching the video below, you can certainly see Lucic directing comments to both Weise and Emelin. I really hope this jerk never gets signed by the Leafs. Edited May 15, 2014 by Boges Quote

overthere Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 "I see that the Oil Kings have won the WHL championship series against Portland, which is cool." I went to all three home games, the series went seven games and Edmonton won game 7 in Portland. It was the first time in the history of the Western Hockey League that a team has won a seventh game on the road.. It was an incredible series, with several big momentum changes and distinctly different styles. "I really hope this jerk never gets signed by the Leafs. " You're safe for now. Dion Phaneuf alone fills the Arsehole Quota for the Leafs. I wonder if Dion will get voted Most Overrated Player in the NHL again by the other platers? Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

kimmy Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Is Lucic an 8-year old trapped in a gorilla's body? Hitting that Red Wings player in the nuts with his stick was so incredibly infantile. Now this. He seems like a giant toddler with no handle on his emotions. I wouldn't want to be there when he has a tantrum. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Boges Posted May 16, 2014 Author Report Posted May 16, 2014 And he's from BC. http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2014/05/15/boston_bruins_milan_lucic_recently_released_antibullying_book.html Apparently he's OPPOSED to bullying. The Irony is beyond palpable. Quote
