scribblet Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Say it isn't so, oh my, I'm shocked I say, I'm shocked http://clownatmidnight.blogspot.com/2011/03/mcguinty-government.html "The McGuinty Government"Oh noez! Dalton has been referring to his government as the "McGuinty Government" in different types of correspondence for at least a year and possibly more, but I just noticed it now! If you go to the Government of Ontario website and search "McGuinty Government" you will find no less than 26278 instances of this damnable phrase! This is unprecedented and part of Dalton's nefarious plan to rebrand Ontario in his image! Does Mr. McGuinty not know that the government belongs to ALL Ontarians??? If this keeps up we'll all be shipped off to the salt mines to build massive statues of Dalton to be erected everywhere! Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

Yeah, unless someone decides to spin it in an associative way for those that hate the McGinty Regime, well, these Conservatives are doing the exact same thing. How bad is that? I don't think the Federal Liberals would have a problem throwing their provincial brethren under the train for the extra points. Quote

Shady Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Seriously, what do we expect from a bunch of fascists? This guy's ego is out of control. What's next, changing the Ontario flag red and whilte? If you're a proud Ontarian, this needs to be stopped. Nothing like this has been done in Canadian history! But it's symptomatic of all autocratic governments, power becomes more centralized and party members marginalized... Dear Leader-NK, Ghadaffi, Mubarak, Mugabe, Franco, and now McGuinty. I can't take credit for the paragraph above. They were all statements provided to us by some of the posters in the 'Harper Government' topic thread. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 The saying, "two wrongs don't make it right" applies to all governments. Besides, both governments are on their way out, are they not? That's seriously reaching Topaz. Dalton's as good as gone with 16% approval rating but the Federal Tories are still very healthy. You cannot seriously be entertaining the thoughts that the Ignatieff Liberals will unseat the Harper Government. Are you? Moonbox Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 The saying, "two wrongs don't make it right" applies to all governments. Besides, both governments are on their way out, are they not? Most recent polls suggest Harper will stay as a minority but McGuinty is almost certainly finished. Ontario is slowly turning into hostile territory for Liberals. capricorn Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 It will be a hoot watching Dalton campaign with brother David who seeks re-election in his Ottawa-south riding. Like the federal Conservatives, Dalton McGuinty’s government is an ardent supporter of lower costs for corporations, and plans to follow Ottawa in cutting taxes. Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, preparing to release a budget just days after federal counterpart Jim Flaherty, let slip his interest in using privatization — a traditional Conservative favourite — to whittle down the mammoth deficit he’s built. And now — hide the children! — Ontario says it will seek to create jobs and reduce costs by building new jails.Speaking to a Toronto business crowd, Duncan revealed the government has found $1.5-billion in savings ahead of next week’s budget. One way they intend to do it: A three year plan to move prisoners from small, old jails into larger, modern ones to be opened in Toronto and Windsor. “Newer jails are bigger and more cost effective,” Duncan said. “We’ll take the savings that we will realize from having fewer but more efficient facilities and use those savings to fight crime.” A laudable plan. But a strange time to announce it, given that Michael Ignatieff and the federal Liberals are about to tip the country into an election, and two of their main targets are the F-35 fighter purchase and the Tories’ planned expansion of Canada’s prison system, the latter part of their tough-on-crime agenda. Corporate tax cuts, privatization, and new prisons: Is there anything Duncan and Flaherty disagree on? (OK, there might be a few things.) It’s not just unfortunate optics. If the federal Liberals have any hope of improving on their seat total, or of blocking an outright Tory majority, they must overcome a substantial deficit in the polls in Ontario. Ignatieff’s gang need their “planes and prisons” attacks to stick. But the McGuinty Liberals see no risk in touting their prison plans to the voters. This has to be worrisome to the federal Liberals, who can at least console themselves that cash-strapped Ontario is unlikely to purchase a fleet of fifth-generation stealth warplanes. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/03/25/ontario-liberals-back-corporate-tax-cuts-privatization-and-prisons/ Which would explain this. Ontario’s Liberal premier says he’ll campaign with his MP brother in Ottawa South but not with federal Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff if there’s a federal election. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/961837--mcguinty-will-not-campaign-with-ignatieff Conservatives in David's riding will have a blast with this one. Oleg Bach Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 This will cause as much of a flap as the recent "Harper Government" scandal, which is to say very little. There is no such thing as scandal these days...when a former Prime Minister takes brown envelopes loaded with cash and actually sues the Canadian tax payer and wins....what's next....men pretending they are woman and taking a man on as a husband? oooooh....sorry...that is not scandalous either...nor is wearing womans panties and being a high ranking military type that likes to strangle woman and hang out in macho land with the Defence Minister...what can possible be a scandal these days? Any thing goes...if you don't like our system - You can simply unplug the government....and even shutting down Parliment to prevent due process is NOT a scandal...I guess if they found out that McGinty was a Scientologist...they would give him the order of Canada.
