We have marriage, family, honour, dignity, security, rights for man, woman and child.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1340794/Muslim-group-launches-poster-hate-campaign-festive-period.html#ixzz18t0rZpm3 Fanaatics from a banned Islamic hate group have launched a nationwide poster campaign denouncing Christmas as evil.Organisers plan to put up thousands of placards around the UK claiming the season of goodwill is responsible for rape, teenage pregnancies, abortion, promiscuity, crime and paedophilia. They hope the campaign will help 'destroy Christmas' in this country and lead to Britons converting to Islam instead.

eyeball
It's probably only a matter of time until coalitions of mainstream religious groups start mounting a united campaign against atheists. They'll probably find a kindred spirit in the coalition of governments coming together in the face of all the uppityness against their right to secrecy and authority. We should start a club and come up with some sort of secretprivate handshake or symbol.

scribblet
Not any time soon - well - Christianity maybe but not Islam, it is growing. It would be interesting to test the waters by putting out a similar ad only changing 'Christmas' to Ramadaan, see what happens

scribblet
Well, the U.K. has more than it's share of radicals, they sure won't win friends and influence people with these types of activities. I did read that some of the protesters have been arrested for public order offences. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/211263/Muslim-fanatics-We-d-burn-more-poppies THREE Muslim protesters who burned a giant poppy during the Armistice Day silence in London were last night unrepentant about the sickening incident which sparked nationwide revulsion. The Daily Express was inundated with calls from angry readers over the incident in Kensington. The men, all in their 20s, said they would happily burn poppies again and will not stop campaigning until Sharia law is implemented in the UK. Oh definitely. There's already secret meetings discussing how to go about doing it. I heard the biggest problem their having is identifying atheists. They don't attend any particular services on a specific day. They don't wear any particular clothing. They don't celebrate any particular holidays. So apparently it's really tough to target them. Jesus and Allah will soon be relegated to the same scrap heap as Zeus and Odin. I dunno. Atheists only make up about 3% of the human race, even after 200 years of scientific progress, and theyre an extremely unpopular group. Just about any atheist that publically talks about being an atheist is under seige with death threats, and all sorts of vile hate. Wont suprise me if atheists are the next ones into the ovens. Bonam
I dunno. Atheists only make up about 3% of the human race, Atheists and agnostics make up a much larger percent than that in Western countries. If you add in those that are only religious in name but not in sincere belief, they comprise a large majority in advanced nations. For example, most of my friends are officially Christian and will once in a while go to Church for big events when they're parents/family drag them there but in practice don't give a damn about god. And, just as people threw off the shackles of oppressive and destructive religion in the West for more moderate forms which eventually led to a spreading non-belief, so too will this have to happen in the future in Islamic countries. I agree. I agree that a hell of a lot of "believers" are actually nothing of the kind. I don't generally subscribe to the historical linear-progressive-as-inevitable view, but for some issues I think it likely, and this is one of them. Like you, I believe that the Islamic countries will become less...well, Islamic. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran...these countries have vibrant, freedom-loving youth cultures....they're largely underground, true but they're there. These folks don't despise the West; even as many no doubt dislike many of the enacted policies, they aren't strictly opposed to Western popular culture the way so many influential religious authorities are. It'll be long and full of upheaval, but improvements are on the way.
Bonam
I don't generally subscribe to the historical linear-progressive-as-inevitable view I don't subscribe to it on a general historical basis, but rather I am convinced that so long as our civilization continues to exist, technological progress will continue (and will accelerate). And, my point of view is that the primary and overwhelming driver of societal change at this point in human history is technological progress, overshadowing all other factors. Many of my arguments are rooted in this point, which most people seem to ignore in their discussions of politics.
