Mr.Canada Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 An example of what? You claimed 1,500 jobs were going to be cut: where's the evidence? Black Dog Posted February 28, 2011 Author Report Posted February 28, 2011 Just wait and you'll see what I'm saying is accurate. I won't hold my breath. Incidentally, did you see that Ford's request to the province included more money for the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program, which presumably includes the salaries of some of the 900 people you are so confident will be unemployed soon? nicky10013 Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 There is tons of waste at City Hall. Lots of cuts are coming, stay tuned. 1500 jobs are going to be cut very soon. Where is the waste exactly? We've been hearing this refrain for over a year now. Incidentally, even councilors who were Ford supporters are coming out and saying there is no gravy. In addition to this, how much money will 1500 job cuts save the city? Will it be enough to wipe out the deficit next year? Will it be enough to cover that 350 million he went hat in hand to McGuinty for? No, at most a few million dollars. That's the idiotic thing about Conservatives. They bitch and whine left and right about the waste here and the waste there and how horrible the inefficiency of government is yet they never take the time to actually figure out how much money certain services cost. Quote
punked Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Miller had those f-ing books in order and Ford came in thinking "I'm a Conservative I will cut taxes and money will rain from the sky." However it didn't now their is a budget gap as big as his tax cuts. Their is the problem, I found it. Quote
Black Dog Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 Ford switches to bully mode Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said he’s “absolutely” ready to play hardball with a provincial government reluctant to agree to his request for $150-million this year. And in a talk radio interview Wednesday morning he threatened to ensure the Liberals don’t get back into office at Queen’s Park following this fall’s election.... “If I need help from the province then I’ll ask for their help. And if they choose not to help us, then I have no other choice but to get out, as I call it, ‘Ford nation’ and make sure they’re not re-elected in the next election.” But...but...the gravy! What about all the gravy that was pouring out of city hall in rivers? What's also funny is the idea that "Ford nation" would be voting Liberal in the first place. Quote

Black Dog Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 How many seats did the PCs pick up in North York and Etobicoke last election? Fair enough, but how are they polling now? The other question is how much influence his lardship actually has on provincial voting habits. He might be overestimating his own influence here. Quote

He might be overestimating his own influence here. He may....but the polls show that the voters in Toronto approve of Ford so far. He's carrying the bully club and by dog let him use it. A majority of Toronto residents approve of the job Mayor Rob Ford is doing, an opinion poll released Tuesday suggests. The Forum Research poll suggests Ford has a 60 per cent approval rating across the city, with a large section of the population supporting some of the mayor's more controversial policies .http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2011/03/01/toronto-ford-poll.html Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Black Dog Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 We'll see I guess. I'm not as up on my provincial politics, but I have to wonder: does Ford think a Hudak government that's promising the same type of austerity Mayor Ford and his brother Rob campaigned on will be more open to opening the taxpayer's wallet? I suppose so, politics being simply a low form of skullduggery. Quote
Black Dog Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 Interesting. The Ford poll that gave him a huge approval rating seems to haveasked some rather shifty questions. Quote

Black Dog Posted March 7, 2011 Author Report Posted March 7, 2011 Ford nation is assembling and going to get the conservative message out to the people of Toronto. The Tories of all stripes will break into the Liberal Fortress Toronto in the upcoming elections. If he possessed the minutest amount of self-awareness (or irony), Rob Ford would be aware that he is getting mad at the Premier and the Minister of Finance for saying the very thing that he credits with winning him the keys to the Mayor’s office: to wit, “there’s no more money.” Tighten your belt. Make do. Stop complaining, etc. etc. You know, Rob Fordy stuff. When Rob Ford says it, it’s okay. When someone says it to Rob Ford, well, he has a five-alarm hissy fit, and he makes asinine threats about mobilizing his (theoretical) army of winged monkeys. This guy is going to win us just about every seat in the GTA. Just watch. link Quote

Mr.Canada Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Mayor Ford has saved the taxpayer $67 million so far in a little over 100 days. Mayor Miller never did that in 7 years. Once Mayor Ford cleans house and privatizes everything probably not, no. I think he should sell off almost everything to private companies. After that we can lower our taxes by a massive amount and start living decent lives instead of government taking half of our money. Think about it Canadien. If more things were privatized government could lower our taxes because we wouldn't need to fund so many things. Doesn't that sound good?
