Just let it off your chest people.

Dalton McGuinty is an arse. Nice fat cash grab he's going for here. What happened to his campaign commercial "I won't lower taxes, but i won't raise them either.".

I'm waiting for the 600,000 jobs that will be produced because of this...

If both the NDP AND The National Citizens Coalition were against this(albeit for different reasons),you know the whole thing stinks...

Plus,we are being bribed with our own money to grease our palms...

It really does'nt matter because last December,Hudak the Twit basically could'nt answer the question of whether he would do something differently(he would'nt)

Which brings us to the federal Conservatives, who are indirectly complicit in a TAX INCREASE!!!!

The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!

It's getting to the point, just the fact your name is not Dalton McGuinty might get you elected Premier of Ontario. Oops, I should take that back. Ontarians will probably return McGuinty with another majority just because he's not Progressive Conservative or NDP. I mean, who would want to return to the Mike Harris or Rae days, right? Daddy McGuinty, Father of all Fathers, we luvs ya. Jeez, are we doomed, or what. :(

Which brings us to the federal Conservatives, who are indirectly complicit in a TAX INCREASE!!!!

The transfer of millions of federal dollars into Ontario's treasury for transitioning to the HST was just too much for McGuinty to resist. This is exactly the excuse McGuinty needed to increase revenues to pay for his boondoggles. Anyone who thinks the HST will result in a smaller tax collection bureaucracy, federal or provincial, is living in lala land. But it will bring in tons of revenue to make up for the billions squandered on schemes such as e-health and to keep the unions happy. ONTARIO, YOURS TO KEEP YOU POOR!

Well,I don't think he will win another majority...I suspect there will be a minority government in Onatrio next year. But you're right, everyone remembers the Bob Rae left wing kookiness and Mike Harris' hard right idiocy.Because no one wants to return to any of those options, the Ontario Liberals seem to win by default...TO ALL OF OUR DETRIMENT!!!

One must remember that harmonizing the sales tax in Onatrio was something floated by the Harris government when our current federal finance minister,Slasher Jimmy, was the finance minister in this province. That's the reason he was so willing to help out a guy he thought was the "small man of Confederation"...Or was that Baird?(sily con's...One in the same, really).Slasher Jimmy thinks this is a great idea, also!!!The increased revenue for McGuinty is just a happy coincidence...

By the way, what unions are you talking about?

It must be the public sector unions because the privte sector unions here are bleeding jobs like crazy.

Complain?

Why?

Squinty MuhGinty got voted in by the resident canuckleheads and now the voter will pay the price.

And to think the voters actually believed him when he said it would be revenue neutral. LOL!

You guys get what you deserve.

Now the whining starts - hilarious.

Always rememebr..

The Harrisites were the first to throw this one out there...And they would have if they had the chance. It was one of Slasher Jimmy's pet projects...

Hudak would not have done anything different, and his pleas of a "lack of democracy" ring a little hollow, all things considered...

What choice is there?

The NDP?

In the end it does not matter who WOULD or who WANTED TO create this lovely tax - the voters fell for it hook line and sinker.

And old squinty will bring it in.

To try and deflect by pointing at others who DID NOT bring in this fun filled tax and say they would have is simply a joke in itself.

Fact is - no matter what people say, think, read and write about - we know who did bring it in.

No politician fears the voter in canuckleland - they know they can basically do as they see fit. When their popularity fails in one party, they then move to another party - many examples of this in canuckleland - and start over - and once again the canucklehead voter falls into step and does as expected.

All in all a bit of a joke.

Need to remind the politician that they are EMPLOYEES of the tax payer - but then aqain the taxpayer needs to grow a set of gonads and start telling the politician how to operate rather than the other way around.

I have to admit I find it somewhat amusing to watch the complaints about this "revenue neutral" tax.

Lots will complain but I suspect MOST did not even vote - meaning - in my books - they have no right to complain.

Actually the HST is the child of the federal Conservatives and Jim Flaherty. They are the ones that stand to gain over this. With the HST and the billion dollar G8-G20 party, everyone should think twice about voting for them next time around. Not only do the Conservatives believe in more regulation and spending, but they clearly support the monarchy - which is something that the majority of conservative party members reject.

Natives don't even pay taxes yet your taxes are going up and you're being forced to pay more so they can get more of your money to waste on booze, mini vans and big screen TV's. Not to mention their corrupt band leaders who refuse to help their own people yet they live in luxury while their people don't have clean drinking water. They've been getting billion$ of decades, where is this money?

We must end Canadian apartheid and end the Native reserve system. Dismantle the whole thing, so away with the reserves and all it's wasteful spending. The reserve system is apartheid and lets end it now. Natives shouldn't be living by separate rules then the rest of us.

I agree - give them their land back and let them get their revenue from property taxes, oil and mineral rights, etc. Let them administer the treaties for once and form new partnerships with people whom are friendly to their interests. BTW Mr. Canada, is your passport up-to-date?

Much of the land was sold by the natives to the British, not stolen as you like to claim. The reserve system should be abolished and natives should live by the same rules the rest of us do.

I live in Halton so much of the land here was Huron at one point then taken over by the Iroquois and the British together. The British then bought it in the 1780's from the Ojibwa and settled here. Nothing stolen.

Natives run many of the online gambling sites and make millions of dollars from it. I play poker for a living, mostly on Full Tilt, everyday which is housed in Kahnawake. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission runs many of the gambling sites online so don't tell me they're poor. They've seemed to have no problems making partnerships.

The reserves need to be dissolved and sold to the Canadian government. No more funding to the natives reserve system would save us billions. Natives will never reach the success of the white man so long as they view themselves as victims. So people who really support the natives would want them to not be looking for handouts. Let the natives support themselves.

When anyone with at least half a brain advocates breaking up the reserve system, they at least include that the reserve land should be broken up and distributed among its inhabitants.

Mr. Canada, don't go down the First Nation road again, its tiring and it leads no way. BTW, they have to wait until Sept. before it kicks in and they don't paid the tax. Instead of harping on the FN, why not talk about getting rid of income tax or other taxes and more people would agree with you. In Ontario, we didn't say no and now we do deserve what we got. I blame the Fed. Tories for suggesting it, using OUR tax dollars to bribe and McGuinty for taking it. One expert said that there will be certain groups that it will hurt, that being seniors or any other groups on fixed incomes but it will only hurt for 2-5 years. There's still too many Ontarians hurting and the Libs are going in the next election. The underground economy will grow and the government won't get all the taxes.

The HST isn't all bad tbh, some aspects of it are going to be beneficial.

The Liberals should have lowered the total tax % opf the combined gst + pst. If they had done that people would've been ok with it. Tax more items and services but for a lesser dollar amount, so instead of 13% tax it could be 10 or 11%. Instead it looks like a money grab.

The Tories should run on a platform like that, people would go for it I think. Lowering the HST to 10% or so. We've become far too reliant on government intervention into our lives. We need less government not more. As it is government is growing faster then provate employment and this is a huge problem.

Imagine the day we manage to repeal the HST here in B.C. and Ontarians start to question why they can't do the same. It would definitely be better for the country if Ontario started getting more uppity too.

The funny thing is, I'd probably go along with the HST, because I think taxing consumption is the better way to go. Unfortunately they didn't give us a corresponding cut in income taxes and of course they lied to us so...

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,

First of all, I am not claiming land was "stolen," unless you include squatting, cheating, lying and illegal sales tactics as a form of "stealing." Besides, "much of the land" comes under the jurisdiction of treaties.

The reserve system should be abolished and natives should live by the same rules the rest of us do.

They do live by the "same rules" it's called the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

I

Two Spoons Treaty between the Iroquois and Ojibway. Now what this means is that the government can come in and expropriate your property probably at a "fair price" with current values. So you only "live" in Halton. Nothing stolen.

Natives run many of the online gambling sites and make millions of dollars from it. I play poker for a living, mostly on Full Tilt, everyday which is housed in Kahnawake. Sounds like they are doing pretty good. Why change a good thing?

So they are doing pretty good, they have no problems making partnerships or taking money from you personally through their on-line gambling and supporting themselves AND they are taking billions for the reserve system. Man o' man Mr. Canada, your train has gone off the rails if you think those are signs of being "victims." Sounds like they have achieved a level of success that has surpassed the white man. That is likely what all the whining is about right?

And, as I said, why change a good thing?

Are you some sort of clueless ideologue?

Oh,wait a minute....

I'll go over this very slowly so you can understand....

The Mike Harris government in Ontario wanted to impliment the Harmonized Sales Tax.Jim Flaharty was the Finance Minister at that time.It did'nt happen for various reasons, but mostly because after Harris left office,Flaharty lost the PC leadership race to Ernie Eves and left provincial politics...

Fast forward a few years to the McGuinty government, now wanting to impliment the same thing. But,of course a tax measure of this nature needs approval from the federal government...

And ...WHOA!!!...Look who's the federal finance minister!!!..It's...It's...It's good 'ol Slasher Jimmy from Whitby! The same guy who wanted to impliment that same HST when he was the provincial finance minister under the Mike Harris regime...

So you see,Shadster..It takes two to tango in these things..The provincial government who wants to impliment a tax measure...And a federal government, who has a sympathetic finance minister who wanted to do the same thing several years previous and has the power to make it happen(with the equal complicity of the gutless federal Liberal party)

What shite don't I know about?

Was it the shite at Queens Park that wanted to impliment it?

Was it the previous shite to the curent shite that wanted to do the same thing?(remember the tax cutting Harrisites?)

Was it the shite that used to be the Finance Minister in Ontario, who's now the shite that holds the same portfolio in Ottawa, who acts as a sympathetic(and curiously silent) apparatchik for Mr.Duncan and Mr.McGuinty?

You sound like someone I've run into before...
