bjre Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I felt 2 or 3 times trembling just several minutes ago. But I did not heard anything from radio or TV and did not find it from http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.html Quote "The more laws, the less freedom" -- bjre "There are so many laws that nearly everybody breaks some, even when you just stay at home do nothing, the only question left is how thugs can use laws to attack you" -- bjre "If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson
M.Dancer Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Yes but I attributed it to gas....reports coming in from Montreal and the gatineau too....luckily my door was closed and only the shaking was felt, no noise was heard. GostHacked Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I was standing on the floor of the warehouse and I swear my feet were moving 2-3 inches side to side. 60 KMs north of Ottawa 20 KMs down 5.5 http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/10/285_45.php NEVER experienced that before in my life .... Michael Hardner Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 I also thought it was Morris initially, however it felt just like the 1998 earthquake that I lived though (also in Toronto) and I didn't know him then. Initially reported as 5.5 now just a 5. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Also - the MLW clock appears to be 22 mins fast, explaining why I felt the earthquake 17 minutes before it happened. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
bloodyminded Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Also - the MLW clock appears to be 22 mins fast, explaining why I felt the earthquake 17 minutes before it happened. The clock is fast! See, I just figured the differing time zones had confused the MLW staff; since they're not from here (New Brunswick), I figured they didn't understand that real time, objective accurate time, is Maritime time; and so they'd fly willy-nilly all over the clock. bloodyminded Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Or.... sorry.... sloooow.... Well, we Maritimers are a bit slow, so maybe the clock error somehow works out...... Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings

Argus Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 There was some sort of rattly noise up the floor that seemed to get a few of the women terribly excited, then everyone headed for the stairwell. All the buildings in my complex evacuated. I lack patience and went home after half an hour. But to make productive use of my/your time, I mowed my lawn. jbg Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 We felt something outside of Windsor.. Thought my fan was resonating at first... Isn't your reasoning a bit shaky? Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
Moonlight Graham Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) I felt it in Ottawa, i lasted maybe 5 seconds from what i felt. I thought is was construction on the street outside or something but it lasted too long for that. My mom here in Ottawa said she was in the house and shook really good for like 30 seconds, freaked her out. There's a quarry near my place where they blast rock like once a week with TNT so this didn't really phase me, in fact i thought it was kinda cool. btw the radio said the centre of quake was apparently somewhere in Quebec not too far from Ottawa. Radio also said the news made CNN. Kinda pathetic for a ho-hum 5.0 quake. GostHacked Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 No damage to my apartment building which is good. But some buildings downtown were a bit rattles, minor damage with broken windows, old houses had chimneys fall off. Our warehouse has a decent crack in the floor in one area (luckily we don't use that area for anything at the moment). What a wild ride. It's a very awesome experience, but one I don't think I'd want to experience again. My pal works in a grocery store and said things were flying off the shelf and ceiling tiles fell down. Some structural damage as well. Quote
