bush_cheney2004 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I was referring to "qualified" in the "competent" sense, and had you actually comprehended all that I said, that would be clear. You are often unclear on such things....but I am glad you finally admit that Gov. Palin is qualified to become POTUS. But do carry on anyway. It's what you consistently do. Correct...I do not need or seek your permission to do so. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Anyone born in this country over age 35 is "qualified." I've never said otherwise. As I just said, I was clearly referring to "qualified" in a broader sense. But then, to be fair, maybe that wasn't clear to you. I'll try to dumb things down a bit for you in the future. Quote

bloodyminded Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) If Palin's core supporters could drag themselves away from NASCAR, humiliation porn, and an apocalyptic reading of Scripture for five minutes....and really, genuinely think for a moment.... they might see through her oily facade: She is hypocritical about the use of the word "retarded"...it's an entirely partisan "issue" for her. This is not even debatable. Thus, she gets to play politically-correct judge, wounded, defensive mother, and defender of Rush Limbaugh's mindless excesses all at the same time. She pretends to knowledge she simply does not possess, including about some fairly important Executive matters. Say, the economy and foreign policy. She has stated explicitly that the Creator supports the Iraq War, God being a red-state Republican at heart. She spent years and years attending a church which makes the Obama controversy on church leaders a benign joke, since Palin's was focussed on such contemporary ills as witchcraft. She's an End-times Creationist, a phrase that should chill the blood, since the noun is built of stupidity and the qualifier is actively dangerous in the hands of a world leader; demanding, as it does by definition, that Israel should enlarge to the point of genocidal bursting, shortly before the Jews are all consigned to hell. (The Arabs' eternal torment, evidently, goes without even saying.) Like George W. Bush, she is astonishingly uncurious, intellectually. But W. is the superior thinker of the two, and probably a better leader. Which doesn't bode well for a Palin presidency, to say the least. Smallc Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) It's her party....and I think they deserve each other: Palin is best, whether she's reading patriotic generalities from crib notes scribbled on her palm (after mocking Obama's use of a teleprompter), or standing before ecstatic Tea Partiers calling out: "Do you love your freedom?" (What I love is a speech line like that. The implication, of course, being that ( a ) freedom is somehow endangered in America and ( b ) that liberals and the "elite" would rather not be free.) But the Tea Partiers, that loose affiliation of angry right-wingers who coalesced last year around the Fox News Channel's crusade against Obama, also consistently provide news cameras with an embarrassment of video riches. Some of them show up at rallies with guns, or signs depicting President Obama as Hitler, Stalin, a turbaned bomber or, as one enthusiastic participant put it, "a half-breed Muslin." Presumably, the fellow didn't mean Obama is made of loosely woven cotton. From Neil Macdonald...and you have to read the rest... Edited February 15, 2010 by Smallc Quote

Moonlight Graham Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 I'm not calling the President unintelligent. I said he's economically illiterate. How so? He pushed the bailout of some huge companies and a big stimulus package. I think most of the stimulus should have kicked in sooner and more punishment/responsibility reigned down upon the greedy wallstreeters. But the bailouts saved tons of jobs, and the interest rate cuts and stimulus spending is classic Keynesian economics.
