Political Test

Recommended Posts

If you think the Conservatives are left wing, the only possible conclusion would be that you a fascist.

The Conservatives have funded womens groups, have given public $100 welfare payments to all families with kids, they've given funding for more public programs, they have not done anything about our immigration crisis but instead have pandered for votes, they have given money to the Chinese for head tax.. they've gone spending crazy.

You were the first to approve of that.

For the two axes to truly be different dimensions, you have to explain what distinguishes Left Economics from Right Economics while keeping the level of Authoritarianism constant -- which can not be done.

You cannot put two different dimensions on one axis. The test measures two different dimensions, therefore it uses two axes. What's your problem with that?

The problem is that the two axes are NOT measuring independent things. I am saying that Left/Right in economics involves authoritarianism.

Here is a problem for you: Try to show me how you can move Left/Right on an Economic level while staying the same along the Authoritarian/Libertarian axis.

I guess you will have to take a random sample of people, measure them and then show that the two are not independent before you can claim it. Even if they are not independent, they are not perfectly correlated and the second axis provides additional information. In fact, two dimensional graphs are typically used to show a relationship/or lack of it between two factors. Height and weight are related too but what gives you more information - a graph of height vs weight or a graph of height only?

With all the new posters on this forum, it's time to bring this thread to the top again.

New here? Do the test below. It's fun and takes about five minutes.

Then post your results (Economic Left/Right) and (Social Libertarian/Authoritarian) in this thread.

Later, check out the following link to see the mapping of other posters. If you post your results here, you'll be added to the graph.

I must have been left off the last addition.

Well, I did this test (again) after a glass of wine or two this time...

Seems like your becoming more socialist August, wasn't French wine you were drinking?

My previous result:

Economic Left/Right: 5.13

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.97

Result today (also after having two... maybe three glasses of the red stuff):

Economic Left/Right: 6.75

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.82

More to the right economically, more to the left (down in this case) socially.

No. You will have to understand exactly what the axes measure.
Height and weight are related too but what gives you more information - a graph of height vs weight or a graph of height only?
Your analogy is inappropriate.

Answer these questions:

What does increasing (or decreasing) values along the "Economic" axis represent?

What does increasing (or decreasing) values along the "Authoritarian" axis represent?

There should only be on axis in this test. I say the "Authoritarian" one because your "Economic" behavior -- as questioned in this test -- is a manifestation of authoritarianism.

That's a possibility. I see where your coming from, that a truly open market would have equal rights for all those that participate in it, and the freedom of the market would decide social policies. But that's highly idealistic.

You can have a moderately free market such as in Canada, but still many restrictions on your social activities. I think in the current state of affairs, both axes are neccessary.

My previous test on Compass:

Economic Left/Right: -5.00

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.18

My present result:

Economic Left/Right: -6.25

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.51

I'm close to Ghandi ,Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama, and I don't really mind that.

I am a paleo conservative.

So your basically in the same camp with Pat Buchanan, Samuel Francis, and Thomas Fleming.

...What ever that means, unfortunately, there was no "Don't give shit" button....how can it say there's no wrong answer if you have no option for apathy....
