Glenn Beck is a centrist not a member of the radical right.

As it stands right now, he's trading heavily in paranoid right-wing conspiracy theories and terminology.

Of course, he seems like quite a fraud, so it could all be contrived and he could be a centrist like you say.

Glen Beck is a great political entertainer and sure beats anything nanny state Canada has to offer.

Yah lower debt to GDP ration, lower debt per person, lessoned effects of recession, no bank failures, Canada's nanny state sure does suck because people don't vote on gay marriage issues instead on what would be best for the country.

He is for limited government and if you look at what the big split is in America it may appear to be a left-right divide but it is really about "big government" and "limited government". That's why I say he is a centrist.

Nowhere but America is there concern or caution about big government. See punked's post before this one to see that he has total faith in government. He argues that our government right now is close the worst in the world but then is ready to defend and spout off about how great we are doing. He is a true believer in the nanny state. Doesn't wrap his head around too much but sloganeering, symbolism and feel-good rhetoric.

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

As a political commentator Beck is laughable. His trademark seems to be stoking fears and anger with vague references to conspiracy theories, such as "Oligarghs"

Like Peter Finch in Network, he's mad as hell and he's not going to take it anymore! . . . But mad at who exactly? And what are you going to do with that anger? Yell? That's productive. I think his whole 9/12 movement is about as cohesive and influential in the grand scheme of things as the G20 protesters in Pittsburg.

As an entertainer that comments on news events, I'll take Colbert or Stewart any day of the week.

I have no where said our government is the worst in the world. In fact I have countless times defended Canadians mix public private system as one of the best. I think we can do better, but I do not think our government is bad. See that is the difference between you and I, I want us to continually push for the best, you win partisan games.

I don't remember seeing any praise for Harper and that's what I mean by our government. The Conservatives are the government right now.

Push for the best what?

I wouldn't call me partisan. I have no political representation in Canada. Liberalism and the NDP hold no weight with me. The Conservatives don't either although I do hold what would be termed conservative values and mores they are not necessarily political but more just social in nature.

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

Colbert and Stewart sort of make politics appear humourous and innocuous, don't they? And we could all use a laugh instead of confronting the reality of the encroaching State.

He's awfully....weepy...don't you think?

Conservatives around here sure get defensive when their idols are shown to be foolish hypocrites.

Beck is personally the source of all problems in the US right now. Perhaps I'm overstating it but...

Yeah, you're not just overstating it, you're being almost Glenn Beckish about it!

That's ridiculous.

Punked is right to bring it up. Beck is personally the source of all problems in the US right now. Perhaps I'm overstating it but...

So if Beck could be shut down, all the problems in the US would be solved. Wow, more power than the president! And such an easy solution.

You're embarrassing yourself MH.

I think he was just joking around. At least I hope he was.

I'm thinking anyone who takes Glenn Beck as an idol isn't so much a conservative as a simpering moron.

I completely agree. So far I haven't seen anyone take him as and idol, or become at all defensive about him.

I particularly like the angry face at the end of this quote.

You can mock Glenn Beck all you want, but name one thing he said that wasn't true. You can't.
