DogOnPorch
Being a garderer @ times, I can attest to these fellows' cleverness(es ). They watch where you plant, for example...wait for you to leave...then...BUFFET TIME! Pass the sunflower seeds.
DogOnPorch
Beavers aren't following their instincts!? Instinct is indeed a human concept. What is instinct in humans? What is intelligence? Intellience is a colony of ants...or Yoko Ono. Depends how one grades it. Are animals as intelligent as us? Some come close on average and certainly higher in specific cases (see forum members list). Chuck U. Farlie
Here is another great video linking ID with creationism as well as the Discovery Institute - and outing a journal which was created and edited by creationists in order to try to give some of their arguments clout - some of those names sound familiar betsy... http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2009/05...asey_luskin.php

Oleg Bach
This thread is about a survey of Canadians' opinions. One will need more than biology to explain them. Opinon is theory - and evolution and creation are speculative..everyone has an opinion..and everyone sees specters on occassion - except for you and me benny - we are realists...right? I really don't like this thread it is useless and it causes division - and it really does not matter much - The most important thing that must be understood is that not all evolutionists are atheists - and not all creationists are godly - in fact most creationist are anti- intelligence - and intelligence is the eccense of God - it's just a plain waste of time - and who ever thought of doing a poll on this subject is a destructive weasil. wyly
Opinon is theoryno it is not, in science Theory is-"A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena."- and evolution and creation are speculative..no, evolution has been observed and tested...creation cannot be observed or tested so it would be just an opinion
benny
no it is not, in science Theory is-"A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena." This definition is problematic for at least two reasons: 1) ideologies may sometimes become self-fulfilling prophecies and 2) natural phenomena don't exist independently of cultural phenomena. Oleg Bach
This definition is problematic for at least two reasons: 1) ideologies may sometimes become self-fulfilling prophecies and 2) natural phenomena don't exist independently of cultural phenomena. The culture in the Petri dish called humanity - is a natural phenomena. The universe is unfolding as it should - and it will always be interesting and provides a reason to continue in this thrill ride called life - there are always surprises and always something new under the sun....real religion is eternal on going learning - and an adventure - institutionalization is the pigeon holeing of the human spirt in vain attempt to gain control - we will never have control over this mad ball blasting through time and space - and that's why it is a thrill to be alive and traveling on this space ship called earth - in one more second we will have travelled another billion kilometers -into a new place - we all hope to space travel when we do it all ready.
