Wild Bill
Guyser and Wulf... the one that annoys me is that 'Central Canada' is about as physically central to Canada as Pluto is to our solar system, entirely south of the southernmost edge of most of the country, and its westernmost edge more than a thousand miles east of the actual centre. Molly, no one knows better than we in the 'Rest of Ontario' that not only the centre of Canada but the centre of the UNIVERSE is in Toronto! Just ask them! Actually, Torontonians take this as such a given that your question might confuse them!
Molly
LOL I had a guy from Toronto call me every expletive in the book because I dared point out that the 49th parallel passed roughly through Timmins. He was a little confused, I guess, about what the 49th 'parallel' actually meant.
jdobbin
Keep federal gun registry: T.O. police chief Police Chief Bill Blair said yesterday he doesn’t want the registry scraped.“I think we as a society have to do everything we can to limit the access that any criminal can have to a gun,” he said Wednesday. “I can tell you the information that is on the gun registry is useful and valuable to the police,” Blair added. “We check in Canada that registry thousands of times each and every day.” He said the registry allows police forces to check whether people they’re dealing with have access to firearms. “I have to tell you, I support the gun registry,” Blair said. It looks like the Tories should talk to the cops before they kill the registry.
waldo
Keep federal gun registry: T.O. police chiefIt looks like the Tories should talk to the cops before they kill the registry. nope... those wingnuts have a new strategy via the Senate! New federal bill would end long-gun registry Some observers said the move is likely more strategic — the Conservatives can blame the Liberal-dominated Senate if the bill is voted down. benny
That is an unthinkingly stupid statement. This is a groundless ad hominem statement.
Argus
Keep federal gun registry: T.O. police chiefIt looks like the Tories should talk to the cops before they kill the registry. Ask the TO chief if he's willing to pay for it out of his own funds and watch him backtrack. It's "useful" as long as it costs them nothing. It's "useful" in that the money spent on it would not be going to police otherwise. If that were not the case, again, you'd see a different response. Ask him if he'd rather have the registry, or federally funded sting squads to get at those smuggling and selling firearms. All of which leaves aside the fact that the TO chief is more Miller's bumboy, as opposed to a cop.

eyeball
Good timing. Police were called to the scene, where officers shot the rifle-wielding woman. She was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital.Story News reports on TV specifically mentioned a long-gun was used and that police didn't know where she got it. A police chief is also a taxpayer and a citizen. A citizen feels proud to live in a country that inventory dangerous objects. When people feel proud of their country, they are willing to police it for a lesser compensation. That is how savings are made.
sharkman
As I expected, attack the cops. That is not an attack on the cops. Earlier you said maybe the Tories should listen to the cops, and then proceed to find one cop's opinion. How again is that listening to "the cops"? Argus
A chief is not speaking for himself alone. Right. He is speaking for his political masters, who in this case is a far left, rabid anti-gun hosehead.
benny
Right. He is speaking for his political masters, who in this case is a far left, rabid anti-gun hosehead. At the Far Left you find only (pro-gun) terrorists.

benny
What anti-registry rural Canadian men should understand is that they will not keep their wives by saying to them that cities are dangerous places to live, much less by threatening them with their firearms.
