If the SCC had upheld the absolute ban on Kirpans, then even these would not be allowed. Would that be just? The decision still does not prevent schools from banning them on a case by case basis, it just means they are not banned outright. Is our society and culture so fragile that a few turbans will destroy it? I used to think like you when I was younger. Then I met a few Sikhs while I was in the army. They wore their turbans, but it did not make them any less of a Canadian soldier. It is actually the idea of the multicultural society that Trudeau envisioned, and I now agree with. These Sikhs have integrated into our society, while still being allowed to practice their own religious beliefs. If you take away their freedoms of religion, they will resent our society, and never integrate, they will always be outsiders. IMHO, that is more dangerous to our society than a million turbans in our forces. You might not be familiar with the saying 'you give an inch, they take a mile'. Do not sell your Canadian values short and bow to the religious pressure. the RCMP is purley a Candian Icon. It is all about the hat. Again, you want to be an RCMP officer, wear the hat, if you must have the turban on, the hat goes on top. I will respect the religion when they respect values of a certain historic Canadian tradition. Also when you are on the job, your religion is second. If you put your religion first, then the job is simply not for you.

In each one of those quotes they simpoly are asking a question if there IS a civil war. Most of these quotes to me read as what they speculate. There is nothing there in each of these quotes that says there definatly a civil war. Quite the missuse of those quotes Montey. They support neither side, but simply ask questions about 'what if'. At least someone is asking the questions instead of just blindly following the 'leader'.

I am glad I visit this site on a regular basis. If I was on that site, along with Black Dog, BHS, Monty Burns... each one of us would get a instant permaban. I am glad things are a little more relaxed around here. I have never had the urge/need to find another place to visit.

It might not be used by the person wearing it. That will not prevent others from taking it and using it for other puposes. Why even take the chance? It is not ignorant or bigoted.

No kirpans in school. No turbans in the RCMP. <rant> Canadian laws and values. If you want to wear your turban, you are not going to be an RCMP, the hat is symbolic of the history of the RCMP. wearing your turban degrades and dishonours your commitment to the RCMP. And those things should be taken out of schools. Instead of saying .. well they MAY hurt someone. Why take the chance. When in Rome do what the Romans do. When in Canada, do what we do. I was really upset they allowed the turbans in the RCMP. That is NOT, I repeat NOT discrimination. Tradition of a long standing Canadian Iconic establishment. There are not many things that you can claim to be Canadian. Why ruin what we have left. </rant>

Less Likely to die in Iraq from natural causes. Gunfire is up on the list with IDEs. Are these accidental or natural deaths?

Countried do not have to support Israel either, for it's state of hypocracy. Suicide bombs. mortar attacks, IDF gates on their territories gunship attacks, leveling of Palestine homes.. back forth , back forth .. territories. These people no longer have a country to live in. They reside in controled tracks of allocated land to the Palestinians. And you want them to say ' yah screw it, the jewish invasion won, we give up'. If the palestinians agree that Israel has a right to exist, then Israel should recognize the Palestinians right to exist as a nation state. I don't see Israel promoting that kind of tolerance from within. And they are definately not promoting it through their actions. (aka building walls, land grabbing ect) But I can't have it both ways I guess. Seems like you are selectivly ok with it. Why did the UN pick that particular place to establish Israel? What would that accomplish? International Law approved the state of Israel International Law did NOT approve of the Iraq war. No such measure was passed (regardless of the number of times they passed resolutions against Iraq.)

I posted this in the other thread about this but... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4765854.stm and http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4765456.stm Looks like SOME of those things ARE being met Monty. Now that they have been given a list to accomplish, they got to work on it right away. Thank your reporter for giving us this wonderful list. But as good old Black Dog said, you are still blinded by the shiney new toy. They have been like this for 1200 years, and you think Bush's Buddies can cure it in a few years? Shortsighted indeed.

Or not supporting a terrorist group that's sole mission is the destruction of Israel. Sole desctuction of Israel. You know I am getting really tired of people using this excuse. Israel was not even a county before WWII. If anything the Islraelis should be kicked out of the reigion, It is clear they are not welcomed there. Palestine was a large country, then the virus was put in place and now it consumes most of the former country. But I would be called anit-semetic if I had actually said those things. Stop it, just stop it. Hammas was democraticly (if you will humour me) elected government. The people chose it. And now countires will just have to DEAL with it. Now onto Iraq and their civil war...Sectrian violence was predicted really, and it is getting worse. Try this http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4765456.stm where it said that the Bagdahd morgues are getting 780 to 1100 bodies a month for the last year. Just as an average, that is about 90,000 people who according to those officials, most have died due to some torture. Wake up people. It already started. Gangs running the streets in Iraq, just as they do in the burbs of L.A. (ok bad example) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4765854.stm To me there is basicly no security, and the only one who can defend you is you and your gun.

Another reason people are concerned about it is that it has been drilled into them. TERRORISM TERRORISM TERRORISM, WATCH OUT MUSLIM EXTREEEEEMISTS. NSA CIA FBI HLS.... all this was created out of the WTC center attacks. Drilled into the psychi of americans. Once you see this kind of thing for 4.5 years after The WTC attacks, it just slips under tour skin, so everyone with a turban/headscarf will be looked at with a scrutinizing eye. The whole psychology behind it. It slips into the sub concious of the American people. And when you have control of homeland ports that are being handed over to a foreign Arab entity, they will perk up. You would not have gotten this kind of thing if it was being handed over to Canada, or Germany, or Spain ect.....

Things that make you go hmmmm.

I support the NDP, but again I consider myself a Socialist, but that looks to be frowned upon here. The NDP is not bad.

Thanks for the article, that sheds some new light on it.

Terror training camp in Canada?
GostHacked replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Google censors conservative sites?? HAHAHA now THAT is funny, just learn to search better. Google has refused to list Jihad-watch site 'MyPetJawa' in its news section, but it lists that Italian pro-Saddam website (sorry I forget its name). And Google has succumbed to the Communist Chinese govt and has censored sites that the commies do not agree with. A couple of weeks back, I saw the results when you typed "Tiamenen (sp?) Square" in Communist China's Google search engine. Nothing about that infamous day. Quite the difference when you google 'Tiamenen Square' in their Western search engine. How could you possibly not know of this? Didn't the CBC report this? I know, I know. Dumb question. So because Google censors stuff in China, (which was the only way google would be allowed to play in China is if they followed their rules.) Google self censors stuff you want to see? And because ONE of your fave pro-whatever websites is not listed on Google...... And by the looks of that website, there is a reason they are not listed on Google. -
As one of my friends put it. 'Islam needs as a whole to just grow the fook up.'

Wow those guys are flippin and floppin like Kerry. At least they are staying the course, their resolve is solid. Now if we can only get a 'dean scream' and have them fade into the background, but not after a serious flogging for being idiots. To harsh?

Many plastics can be manufactured from plant fibre - it just takes 4 times as much energy as using oil.The aviation is the one industry that will be killed when the oil runs out - there are just no alternatives available that would not turn an aircraft into a flying bomb. Human power? Have all the passengers flap their wings... it'd a great national fitness program too! Spending 4x as much energy to create a plastic like product from plant fiber is crazy. It will get more efficient in the future (I hope) But if you are using the coal plants to power the process then that is 4x the amount of coal you would need in the first place. That is not saving or conserving our resources at all. This all plays out like a huge Real Time Strategy game, BUILD STRUCTURES, GET RESOURCES, BUILD ARMY, ATTACK!! 'Fusion Reactor Reseach complete'

That is the feel I get from it as well. Why would you even have the British manage your ports in the first place? They are US ports, on US soil under US control, but owned by someone else. Does he not trust his own American people to handle the job ? Or is this more outsourcing to save money. Might be good in a way, if the US economy tanks, and since the UAE company owns the ports, they will take a financial hit as well. Selling off America to the hightest bidder. It just does not make sense.
-
Racial profiling? Trade protectionists? It is not about doing buisness in America, it is about giving up American control of those ports. Ok not control but ownership. It's like you owning a home and having someone else control your driveway and garage (cah powt). Are you sure that is a right move?

I was wondering when this would be posted here. Who the hell knows! How about we sell off the NSA FBI CIA HLS to Osama and be done with it. A bit much? Also in the news http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4735570.stm

Will Alberta become another Newfoundland, when the Cod ran out. Short sighted greed, is that all we want? Nope, when the oil runs out we'll start on the methane gas deposits, then the thousand year supply of coal, then the uranium and diamonds........ Coal will run out around the same time as oil. If your machines that run on oil no longer work. Pick up that shovel and start diggin my friend. Coal will run out with the oil? No, it won't. source Machines run fine on electricity. Coal can be used to make electricity. I like electricity. This is like a conversation with Homer Simpson. Alberta is watching a pilot project in the US that features a zero-emissions coalfueled generating station. The greenhouse gases have a future being pumped back into the ground to extract low pressure, big value coalbed methane. The future looks rosy. Just make the tires out of something else, engine oil out of something else, plastics out of something else.. and all will be well.

Did not know it ran that far back. That is horrible! Internet banking is safe for the most part. I use it on a daily basis myself. LOVE the control I have over my finances. And about the other post... hell yeah POPUPS can deceive you. I got hosed by a few of them. The security risk starts with your PC connected to the Internet. Your stuff should be nice and locked down with protection. It takes some time to recognize and be familiar with the problems. I have been a PC user for 11 years and an IT Tech for 4. I still get nabbed by some crap online. So don't feel bad about getting your PC infected. Popup Do you want to continue? Yes or NO. *click no* Are you sure? Clicking NO will mean Yes They are worded in a way to screw you. Also I have had some popups that did not give me an X to close out. It was an Internet Explorer with a border and no tool bars ect (popups are essentially mini web pages anddependant on their design can look like that) I had no where to click to close. I clicked and was dragged to another site. Alt F4 to close out without actually clicking it. GRRRR. I understand your frustration in it for sure. I really sympathise for people who get 'owned' like this.

CRTC to Keep $600m in Consumer Overpayments
GostHacked replied to Spike22's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Exactly what I was thinking. So the overcharged customers are paying to installa new infrastructure in places where there is no service. Plain outright theft. This is why companies are profit driven, so they can get a profit to pay for their expansion of service. These saving were passed right along to the consumer. F.I.T.A.
