  1. I have stated in another thread about BMD (which I started) that it would be useless. North Korea can fire a nuke and whipe out Soel in 3 minutes tops. Time window is very small. We also know that (according to a documentary I watched on North Korea last night) North Korea has the 5th largest army and has the largest fleet of subs of any country. BMD is useless if one sub can slip into US waters and launch a surprise attack. All the BMDs would be tracking stuff from space or stuff comming from the other side of the planet. Or oif someone has a nuke strapped to their back. Hard to shoot that down with BMDs. Not only that, you will eventually have stealth missles or missles with alot of ECCM on them. Making the BMD shiels just useless. Then that gets countered. The world knows that the US wants to build this defence system. The enemies of the US will build missles that can penetrate the sheild. The US will have to devise a better system. Escalation after escalation. Vicious cycle we can stop by just saying NO. We do not need this folks, with having this, it brings more attention to us from others that hate the US. This system of BMDs has been tried by the US since Deifenbaker. It did not come to fruition then, I doubt it will now. And we gave up and trashed one of the most superb military fighting aircraft in the world. We gave up our soverignty in that manner. The Arrow was a kick ass project. BMDs killed it. Again like others said, that it just put money into American weapons makers. The only people that have been able to make the BMDs work is Isreal. They took the Patriot Missle batteries and made them work. And work they do. The US can't even figure it out. We do NOT need nukes. I do not see one real reason why we need them. We as a county gave them up, for we feel safe enough. Also if the nukes start flying absofrackinglooootly no one on earth will win. By building more nukes we are just hastening the timeline to MAD. Less weapons are what we need. Not more. BMD is an arms race of a different kind.
  2. Nice racial slur, you piece of crap. The guy was Sihk. And I agree that he should throw the turban away. Put on that hat. it is OUR tradition, and if you want to be a part of it, Put the hat on. Or find another job.
  3. This is quite true. You can start to see the gun culture in Canadian programming more now than ever. How many cops shows exist on TV right now? How many Hollywood movies feature guns/violence? I really cannot stand cop shows. They are all the same. Guns, death, incarceration. To say there there is no prominant gun culture in the U.S.A is flat out wrong. How many Americans own guns? (Or more than one) compared to the overall population. Do the same for other countries. Numbers will speak the truth. PC and video games from the US are mostly violent. How the hell does 50 Cent get famous? Gun culture. He shows it and is proud of it. Have not played the game for I cannot stand him as a 'rapper'. I have played alot of games to know that alot of games overseas (europe and japan developers) create different games that don't even include violence, or it is really toned down and made comical. I could be wrong being a Canadian though. Hope my ignorant arrogance will show through.
  4. I would like to know this as well. What are the related costs on both instances? Also on the poem, I read it, and well, I am a sick ill twisted mind, so I liked it and I actually laughed at it. Sometimes we need a little un-PC stuff happening. Yes I get a sick pleasure when a convicted murderer gets the axe. Bernardo is one that I won't miss anytime soon. Carla should be spending life behind bars as well. She should have her head tied to Bernardo's when the bullet flies, so you only need one bullet. Keeping a person behind bars for life is humane plain and simple, in respects to their offenses. You will always have the factor of executing a complete innocent. This is where the anti-death penalty people pipe up. But in the case of the convicted confessing for thier sins, they should be put down. NEXT !!!
  5. If anyone in Canada says 'aboot' it would be in the maritimes, Newfoundland ect. I hear more Americans pronounce it 'aboot' than Canadians. And I deal with alot of Americans on a daily basis with my job. When I say ABOUT, the know right away who they are dealing with. Also Canadians say 'aboot' in every South Park episode. It is a nice reversal humour.
  6. oh shi .... ... but since it is a pinko commie left wing soviet style state run propaganda machine, Monty here will NOT believe a word on that article. Typical blind ideologue who only sees what he wants to see. My above reply to Newbie applies to you too.
  7. Only CNN and one other news site reported that Canada blamed the US. There has been no mention of it as far as I know, in the Canadian press. I had this discussion on another website. The artilce was taken from AP. CNN took it at face value and ran the story without actually checking any facts about the story. SHAME on them. Most Trusted Name in News?? Total bull. To me this shows that there is no real journalism anymore. They are propaganda machines for whoever they are in bed with. This is a disservice to your listener/viewer. Picking and choosing articles. NO real news is reported these days. I go to several news websites a day to read how others report on the same topic. I did that day as well, no canadian news site that I read even mentioned the blame of the US. I googled the quote and only CNN and the Seatle Post were the only two running that headline. Several more are running the same headline with the same article from AP. AP is a good source of news, but if you are someone like CNN, you should be able to do some real investigative journalism to find out what really was said. I have not seen those quotes about Miller saying it is all the US's fault. CNN is a news service as much as Jerry Springer is a talk show host.
  8. This is retarded. Think of it this way. Company A, wants to take over Company B, there are legal ways around it, and illegal ways. Company A, devises a plan. Then they bring their proposal to a board member body of some type. Board body says, NO, we cannot accept this. Company A had no intentions of ever going with what the Board body rules, so it is a done deal and Company A takes over Company B illegaly. Company A always wanted Company B and will do anything to take it down, including dealing with it's competitors. Some shifty shady deals are made. We all know Company A's so called 'dirt' was made up and a good chance planted by their trusted members. And when we find the truth about Company A, it is way to late. Company B has been sold off to the highest bidder that will provide kickbacks for Company A. You would not accept this kind of behaviour among American companies. Trades and Commisions ect would come down hard on Comany A. So I am gonna come over, steal all your stuff and sell your resources off to pay for the damage I have done to your property. Why? Because you did not play nice when I wanted you to have a fight with your neighour, you turned on me. And now you pay. This should about sum up the mentality we are talking about here.
  9. Carolyn Parrish was a loose cannon and was dealt with. And it was tame compared to what the US ambassadors had to say about Canada. Keep it in perspective. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Paul Martin did nothing about Carolyn Parrish's antics. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, right: http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...rish041118.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oh shi .... ... but since it is a pinko commie left wing soviet style state run propaganda machine, Monty here will NOT believe a word on that article.
  10. You must be unaware that Tony Blair was re-elected to a 3rd term, that the Tory Party (also pro-enforcement of int'l law) came in 2nd, and the anti-enforcement of int'l law party (I forget its name) came in a distant 3rd. You also must be unaware that John Howard was re-elected to a 4th term in Australia. You also must be unaware that Italy's Silvio Berlusconi was re-elected in May 2005. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And as BlackDog has pointed out, there are alot more reasons for why they won their respected elections. Iraq was not the only thing on the agenda. If they both got elected for the sole reason of Iraq, then both the British and the Australians are complete retards. But I would think there was more to it. I could be just oblivious to the whole thing though.
  11. That is because there is such an overflow of hypocracy comming from the south, it just kind of trickled up here. Regans Trickle Down Effect applies here as well.
  12. Wait, I've heard about 'last years rhetoric' Bush does like to rehash the same over and over again. Well one positive thing I have to say about Bush is that he is consistent in his speach. Wait for it . . . . . . . Well time will tell. If it all proves to be the overall right move in the end, I will eat my words. I have even stated that in my posts on this forum. However, you must also be aware of the flood of bullshit that comes from the US Government. I guess overall you are OK with their lying, because the ends justify the means. This won't work all of the time. In the end, Iraq/Hussein was not a threat to itsef let alone the all mighty powerful blah blah blah UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !!!!! But regime change was needed, for the reason Hussein just did not fit into the Middle East Plan the US had. He did prove useful for some time. Things change.
  13. Whoa did we get off topic, but you know, cool stuff. Part of the appeal and reason I visit this place, as nutty whackjobs as you all are. I have grown fond of you Yes even you BHS. Now on to the straying..... Drea ..........Surplus means - we have money left over from the budget. Reality, we are still in debt and should apply this 'surplus' to the national debt. So when you have a surplus, really you just have extra money you should really slap on the loan, cause the interest is a bitch. Look Canada cannot compare to the US's economey as it is now. Even if our dollar gets higher and more on par with the US greenback we will always be a small economy. We are a nation of about 35 million people. About 1/10th of the population south of the 49th. So in the end this is a retarded agrument. We simply cannot afford a large military, and as I have posted before, we really don't see the need for a large military. Yaro I am guessing he is a Statistics kind of guy. Newbie, Any idiot knows that economy in the US affects us in Canada as well. They take a hit, we take a hit as well. Jobs used to be moved to Canada for company's bottom dollar, now even those jobs are shipped overseas. So jobs and dollars that would stay in North America are now being thrown at India, China et al. It is simply to expensive to have an American do the job. The government seems to encourage it all under the banner of Capitolism. Increase profits, lower costs, kill all who stand in our way. But moving the jobs offshore will not help the average American in the end. Cheap goods are the appeal. Alot of the shit you all buy is NOT made on this side of the planet. Take a look at the stuff you own. Is Economics that simple now? Nope. It does seem like a vicious cycle. OK all you posting have a PC. Take something like a motherboard. Mine is an ASUS, made in freakin CHINA. I bought the board for about $120 CND. If that board was made in the US, I can sure bet you it would cost double that (pure uneducated speculated guess here) As a consumer, you are part of the problem. You want to save money, so you will by the more inexpensive products, regardless of where it is made. Again this vicious cycle prevails. It is now a world economy. There is a ripple affect, and it is felt more now that we are globaly more intertwined than ever before. If I may add an addendum to that statement, GH, it would be so that the above reads: "Coulter , Tucker, both are media whores who sensationalize and rant about anything and who know nothing at all about the subjects they are paid to rant about." Not only would I not worry about what they have to say, I wouldn't piss on either one if they were on fire.
  14. You cannot really take anything Coutler or Carlson seriously. Tucker was respectable to an extent when he was on CNN's Crossfire, but we know what happened there. He got owned by a Bush bashing jokester. (Jon Stewart) And Coutler is there simply to rouse feathers, that is her job. Any person with reasonable intelligence would simply laugh at these two. Also, everyone does recall the nice friendly words of the former US Ambassador to Canada. Mr. Paul Cellucci. Bush even appointed him to the position. Now this is a concern, when the ambassador himself is cranking out the bashing. It can be tolerated on inane banter back and forth shows like Tucker on Crossfire. And I can even tolerate it from Coutler, cause I know she is an alien for a fact. Either that or she had a sex chage (check out her adams apple dude) And the way things are being reported these days, (Bush lying about the reasons for war, secret prisons, ect. It really makes it easier to bash the US government. I do not believe the majority voted for him, rigged (but thats another story) So put it into perspective. Coulter , Tucker, both are media whores who sensationalize and rant about anything. But that is just it, they are media whores and nothing else. When it's all said and done, The Dayly Show is a much better news source. Paul Cellucci was an Ambassador, his comment should be taken more seriously, for the simple fact he is representing his entire country. And that did not help the American view from Canada. Essentialy saying, 'in the short term you are gonna pay for not joining us in the war'. So, next time you react that quick to someones comments, look at who delivered them, then put it into perspective.
  15. This is the correct course of action. End of thread!! My real answer is , I have no clue
  16. But oh wait. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4528982.stm http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/12/14/bush.iraq/index.html Admitting to wrong intelligence? You don't say Mr. Bush? I NEVER would have guessed that. Thanks for steering me straight. I won't ever doubt you again. This amounts to a war crime.
  17. I think the US can do this all by themselves. All Bush has to do is speak, Freedom. Victory, Resolve. Let the chips fall where they may.
  18. When you are shivering in the cold because all the oil fields in the middle east have been irradiated and gas is now $100 a gallon you might have second thoughts. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are many other methods of providing heat to the home. Also I take public transportation. Owning a car is too much for my pocket book anyways. Let the rpices go up, waaaaaayyyyy up.
  19. You know what?? Screw it. Let them build nukes. The sooner we are rid of BOTH those countries the better. Let them take each other out. I really don't care anymore. Let the damn nukes fly, turn the whole area to glass. This would end the conflict in a hurry. Not much left though. So who wins? Isreal? Iran? I think they both know in the end they will both loose, but really don't give a flying explitive.
  20. I sooooo beg to differ on that. How many people are killed in DUI related car accidents in North America each single year? How many people have cancer from smoking? Al-Queda has nothing on those two. We are not responsible for secureing the border. The US is. IF they want to keep the assholes out, then let THEM take care of it. Yes that lady was shrugged right off. But no one seems to listen to common sense down there. But that is me. The Canadian Anti-American.
  21. I think the GST is fine where it is. We have been used to it for this long. And really a 2% cut is nice, but in the overal scheme of things in MY life, I won't even notice it. It's alot of money for the government to use (waste). Keep it in place.
  22. You think just like an American. Ruffle up some feathers. Corner the animal. Torture it, propagana it, then when it BITES BACK, invade it's home claiming that it was gonna kill your way of life. Just stop it. Now this piece is interesting, but still pretty retarded. At least the nazi/commie left run CBC does not sensationalize every little bit out there. And tries to report the facts. If they do not report facts, I have no faith in any media and I will go on around me saying everything is fine.
  23. By now you know they are not lies. The Bush Admin has to constantly adjust their 'language' to reflect the recently uncovered bull. Lies to cover lies, eventually it bites you in the ass. These lies, however, may just eat you whole. This is laughable. 100% I trust CBC more than let's say CNN, MSNBC, or ...Fox News? Also you should look elsewhere for supporting evidence on your position. Plenty of other news websites out there that will give you a bigger picture of what is going on. And that would be your first mistake assuming we ONLY read CBC. Huge mistake. I know that the people who visit this web forum, generaly know more than the Average Amercian Bear. And I would be scared of North Korea(ahh not) or China let's say. You think that the US can just overun a Chinese military? M.A.D. IF they cannot clean Iraq up, what makes you think they can do that to a country that actually poses a threat to the US? The US does not even really know what they are up against in a county like China. North Korea has singed on with paper. Now you have to wait to see if that will pan out. Hopefully we don't have to wait another 10 years to find out that they still have not disarmed. They must have some kick ass sheep. That wool over your eyes is pretty thick.
  24. Monty Burns. You were saying something about the population of Iraq and North Korea. You were also saying that it was easy to bowl over Iraq with the mighty US force. Now, you very well know that Iraw was easly bowled over, and it was expected. After the first gulf war, a decade of sanctions and no fly zones, their military was utter garbage. So an easy victory was achieved. Iraq simply had NO chance of winning the war. From Wikipedia North Korea population 2002 estimate 22,224,1953 (48th) Iraq population 2005 estimate 26,074,906 (44th) Not much of a difference really. If you look at it this way, basicly Iraq has been fighting a war for over a decade with the US ect. North Korea has not been invaded ONCE. Yes they do have a smaller population, but they have not been attacked in the last 15 years. So I will go with the assumtion that their military is in very good shape. You have at least ONE MILLION ARMED TROOPS for their infantry. From estimates North Korea throws 25% of it's budget into the military. The reason the US has pussy footed around with North Korea for so long, is that they are simply not interested in it that much. Nothing to gain by it. No ecomonic, military, resource gain at all. NONE. We know what went on in Iraq however. And 10 years from now, North Korea will stil be in negotiations with the US. Nothing will change here.
  25. Alright, you are right, war is not illegal. I guess. So I guess that makes it alright to do anything. War is hell, and the will always be colateral. But the U.S. is always boasting a moral standard that the rest of the globe should follow. That in there itself is a mask. There is still a shitload more of what we do not know of. What other weapons, they first deny of using. Then after some evidence comes out they finnaly DO admit to using those weapons. They if they will admit to that, when the evidence is found that they used other questionable munittions, what then?
