Suspected Terrorists Arrested in Toronto
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This highlights a train of thinking that I see everywhere in Canada now: "It didn't happen, so it couldn't have. It never will." Slamming planes into the WTC probably looked like a ridiculious plot too. I said it before and I'll say it again, the best thing for Canada probably would've been to just let them do it and then 'swoop' down on them. With that last statement, are you advocating this kind of violence then? Let them bomb, to provide the actual proof and evidence you need to prosecute AND to show to the public that terrorism is a HUGE REAL THREAT? Or would you rather have then caught now, throw them in jail, and just continue on with your daily life? -

To add to this whole mess, I made a prediction and it kind of came true. Ever since the conservatives took over (I mentioned this in another thread) there has been a pr blitz on our military. Soon after they got in office, on tv and in the other media, the ads for the military increased dramaticly. Can't recall the last time CBC played an canadian Forces commercial every break. Heck I was watching a hockey game with friends and some of them commented the same thing. Ever commercial break there was an ad for our military. This was about 2 months ago now. Since I read the news regularly I noticed this increase almost right away. Also alot of PR in the media and in Parliment regarding our mission in Afghanistan. Personaly I was thinking, ok this is gearing up for something. I had said to a few friends that there will be an attack soon just because of the increase in PR. NAHHH they said. This 'plot' does not surprise me at all to tell you the truth. Nothing about this surprises me at all. Just the couple weeks leading up to this plot, and after the non debate about Afghanistan, there also has been alot of exposure of the mission in Afghanistan, notice how our soldiers are not frequently being targeted. I never saw anything like this under the Liberals (now before you start the Libs are bad yada yada yada, put it aside, it is not what I am getting at here) Daily basis now with CBC and CTV 'Canadian soldiers were involved in a 'roadside bomb, insurgent fire, abducted soldiers' I will guess that under the Liberal rule there was just not alot of PR regarding the military. I have bet a couple of you have noticed this trend as well. So in the future you will see. - more canadian soldiers dying as reported by the press(there will be more this year than the previous 3 years) - more uncovered 'sleeper cells' in Canada - more muslim backlash - increased number of police on the streets. - more ties to international terrorism. - ramp up in violence overall in certain cities. - an actuall attack that will succeed. I hope I am wrong on all these, but what I see, makes me think I am gonna be real sad when this comes true. Quick Edit here : Also I find it odd that there has been rarely if any mention of Osama Bin Laden since this plot was uncovered. -

I know some straight white men who think the same way in that regards. Heck I know people from all walks of life that think that way. I really don't see the difference. Good points. -
A List of Canadian Terrorists
GostHacked replied to Johnny Utah's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is none, because no-one says they should stay, other than their lawyers. That's not true. There is a good majority of people who are either sympathizing with them, or, defending their rights - ie the group in ottawa today that lobbied for the gov't to remove the 'terrorist' element from our laws. These are white, full bred Canadians. I say this over adn over; Canadians defend the guilty. Perhaps the thinking should be, protecting the innocent until proven guilty. -

I think I just got dumber. -
Cite your sources, and I will reply with http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5053134.stm The numbers look like they are over 1000 for every month this year, even last year many months had over 1000 civilians dead per month. Also this looks like just the Bahgdad mortuary reporting. What about the other morgues. Under 700?? Again, cite your sources.

Suspected Terrorists Arrested in Toronto
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
uh, the intention of destroying public targets for political reasons probably has something to do with it, maybe? If somebody formulates a plan to blow up the Toronto Stock Exchange (source) they're a terrorist. -k Well one thing I am noticing is the difference in reporting from different sources. From that article the Parliment in Ottawa was NOT a target, yet other papers claim that it was? Can we get a solid straight answer? IThat is the first article I have read that talks about the TSX as a target. -

Yes indeed, just like under the Tailban, Sharia Law is the law of the land. Opium production is the highest it has ever been. If Afghanistan is a bennhmark in this war on terror then I can suspect Iraq to 'turn around' Taliban making more attacks in recent months in Afhanistan *worse since the invasion* Not sure how that one is accomplished. They may be out of power, but they still have a full head of steam. Well I hope this is true. But I doubt we put a kink in the armour at all. Of that, how many countries are supplying military support compared to those countries just giving the thumbs up, for they can't really do crap to help the fight. Actually we should be cleaning the Saudi's out, remember 9/11? Most of the pilots/hijackers were Sauds, a couple in the air force or working commercial flights. But yet Iraq was invaded. (can't invade a country that has an good deal to sell oil to the US, so the Sauds are friends even though they are just as bad as the Taliban) Some of your statements I cannot argue against. And yet the leaders of the War on Terrorism (the US and the UK) both are heading towards the police state, with cameras everywhere, legislation to overrule basic constitutional rights in essence repressing their OWN people for the sake of security from terrorism. Freeing foreigners enslaving the locals. (Patrio Act, NSA spyprogram ect) The UK is way ahead in this aspect too. They are the police state. -

I agree. I posted that when details on the suspects origins were sketchy. . If what I am reading through the postings is true, there is some conflicting evidence on what went down. Even the news articles cannot give me a full story. The police had some involvement with selling/supplying the fertilizer. ? There was nothing else on them that would help make NA a bomb. ? Domestic homegrown terrorists. ? Domestic home grown terrorists with international ties? Parliment/Peace Tower was a target.? Each article I read was different. Even on the Ottawa Citizen the headlines were something like ' PEACE TOWER TERROR PLOT' Other reports say Parliment was not a target. So wtf? Can we get a good straight solid answer? -
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/na...-home-headlines This is your beacon of light in the War on Terrorism. We know that the US does not want anyone of it's miltary personell to be tried at the Hague. The US does not even recognize the International Court. And they want to leave out Part 3 of the convention because .... ALL detainees. ALL of them. So with leaving that part out, they can run quagmirish problems like Gitmo and the like. Seems like a 'Don't do as we do, do as we say.' policy. Glad to see they are moving in the right direction this will garner them more support for the war on terrorism right?

Are Bush and Rice a number?
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
HAHAH Well, like they say, once you go black ..... -
gerry http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...vandalized.html This differs alot from your story. Oh and the 'weapon' used was something heavy like a sledgehammer, pickaxe or a crowbar. Big freakin deal. I addressed this incident in another thread and this is just a useless story. It's not that big of a deal. If you had a few of them trashed at the same time or burnt them to the ground, then it would be a big deal, but this is peanuts. Oh and nice to see them mentioning the Oklahoma City Bombing. Twice.

Alleged Canadian Terror plot has Worldwide links
GostHacked replied to Johnny Utah's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I would be more than pleased to meet you face-to-face if you should like. Perhaps you would like to make the very same threat to my face yes? Let us both keep the 'racist' CSIS or RCMP who seek to protect the average Canadian from people like yourself (after all that is their job) and deal with this mano-a-mano yes? Remember, this is not a threat. I merely wish to see if you would utter the same thing with a 'racist white guy' standing before you. to jamiepazo : Thank you for your enlightened opinion on this matter. Oh yes, the new 'black' discrimination crap. 'I am a muslim, please do not make fun of me. Who got busted again? Just so we know? How does the CBC then be cast as racist? But to be honest I have not seen of heard of a buch of Tom's Richard's or Harry's in the news when it comes to suicide bombs and other terrorists. FacistCanuk : This kind of mentality will not work either. Yes Yes, big man and all, you could probably take my ass out, for I am not that fit, and well, the smarter thing to do would be to save myself harm and just avoid a usless encounter to begin with. -
Alleged Canadian Terror plot has Worldwide links

killjoy, Looks like a mosque in Toronto was vandalized, http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...vandalized.html Well slightly. the door and some glass was broken, nothing else. I guess someone realized what they were doing half way through, or they were scared off by something. I just hope people don't go all crazy and just chill out before they decide to throw that next rock. OH and linking to TWO people in the US is not what I would consider WORLDWIDE LINKS TO TERRORISM. -

scriblett That article points out exactly what I am talking about in my other post. Not making some link to Al-Queda directly, but the mere mention of it or hinted at it is just as damaging. Leading people to speculate that it was indeed Al-Queda. Soon you may see something like 'Oh well now we found out they were actually a super secret Al-Queda cell that we never knew about' The next plot will be domestic as well. Or how about this, when will you see a terror plot (foiled or carried out) that IS actually linked to Al-Queda. Watch for the ramp up of this kind of thing. The head of CSIS said the terror from within is greater than the terro from without. So who is ready to vote in the Canadian version of the Patriot Act (oh wait we already have something like that in place) Tha article says to me that there will be more attacks to come. The next one wil be real. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver. These are the places I specualate would have a terror attack. -

How long before everyone starts saying it was an Al-Queda plot? Cause you know if you throw terrorism, Al-queda in a couple sentences, people will automaticly link the two. -
Spiegel Interview with Iran's Ahmadinejad
GostHacked replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,1788907,00.html Well Iran gives up the nukes, Israel should as well. Israel is suspected to have nukes, and going by Blix, they have more than any of the Muslim countries combined. And with the Iranians seeking nuclear technology (but perhaps not nukes) to even up the playing field. Notice my sig line. I would love to know this answer as well. THIS is a very important and fantastic question. -
Next time hit CNN's website and do a search there on CNN pages, not through Google or your results WILL vary. http://search.cnn.com/pages/search.jsp?que...e%20phosphorous http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/res...orous&scope=all Those stories hit MSM last year. Recall Fallujah anyone?

Most of them untrue, most of the rest out of context. Honestly, I think you and your type, if alive during WW2, would have been peppering every windshield with allegations of allied attrocities, pictures of poor German and Japanese civilians being killed, and demands that Ike, Churchill and Roosevelt be arrested for war crimes. Guess what? In war, sh*t happens. Yes indeed stuff happens. So I should not shed a tear for either side when they suffer losses. This all comes down to who you sympathize with. Cannot compare WWII to this war on terrorism. Different times, different situations. But just to let you know, you have heard of Dresden Germany? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Dr...in_World_War_II Also Kobe, Japan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe%2C_Japan#History The Allies were also involved in some bad stuff. Hitler was a terrible person overall, but to blame him and Nazi Germany for all the atrocities is ignorant. Both sides participated in shady stuff. Hitler did alot more however, no arguments there.

The notion that 'someone bought 3 tonnes of fertilizer' is a little weak/ignorant. Most likely all of them were invovled with it. Buying a bag or two here and there, storing it up over time. Someone would have been suspicious if anyone (without a farm as mentioned) wanted to buy 3 tonnes right there and then. That is alot of cash to carry around, for I am guessing he/they would not have used a legit credit card if they tried it that way. They bought it bag by bag through many different stores/chaines, through a long period of time. -

You will see more of this in the news in the weeks to come. 'Twarted terror attacks'. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americas/06/...rror/index.html Al-Qeada INSPIRED. Readers are going to automaticaly (wonder why?) think that this was an actual Al-queda plot when it was not. Just throw that in there to make people more scared. They were all canadian redisents legaly by the looks of things. And even the CSIS director told us in the news that the threat of terrorism from within is higher than it is from without. There will be another attack attempt, that is for sure. Where and when? Don't know. But I can tell you for sure you will see more of this in the news this year. Here you have it, US and Canadian authorities working on it. I am just hoping we used better intelligence than our American counterparts. So I have no doubts that you had American CIA or FBI agents working with the police in Toronto. This one was 'thwarted' just to kind of wake us up, or put more fear into us. The next one will be quite real. -

Michael Moore being sued
GostHacked replied to newbie's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It will fail. He must have signed a disclaimer in order to have his face in the movie. It might have been used out of context, but he signed the waiver. This will get nowhere. -
This is simply the best 'terrorism' thread we have had here on the forums. It clearly shows that some of you who supported the war before are now not so sure. Or have flipped to the other side that it was not a good idea. C.A. Sooooooooo true. Those military/defence contractors are making record profits. Lockeed for example T.S. Or he may be hiding out in Pakistan who is known to harbour terrorists. (Mushareff admits they have an issue with domestic terrorism) CrazyMF. You are not crazy at all dude But that sums it up quite good.
