The statistics are clear: almost nobody watches the TV network in any English language market. You can differentiate between content as you wish, but very few Canadians watch CBC TV: period. Write that off. No wait, just pay for it.

And you think it has earned more funding, by bascially having a free hand/huge budget to develop domestic programs, yet failing to produce anything that Canadians watch? offering programming that nobody watches? Past results + change don't guarantee anything. Alberta had the highest PISA scores in Canada and some of the highest in the world a few years back. They changed their teaching methods to 'discovery learning' and scores have dropped significantly. They continue to pour money into failure.

Yep. It is why the telcoms and cable companies all invested big in providing Internet access. The cost of cable goes down, the price of bandwidth goes up. They saw this coming long ago. The big losers are the specialty channels that are part of bloated digital cable packages. Not many will pay for them directly and they'll fold, taking jobs with them. Oh well..
