Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Army Guy replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Have you read the Geneva convention we signed on Child soldiers ? it clearly states that it does not preclude child soldiers for being held accountable for thier crimes...it also clearly states that it's main intention is to go after those responsible for recruiting, using, or placing children as child soldiers....So according to your argument we can do both...if it can be proven that his mother had a hand in that...She as much said publically that she tried to recruit him to be a suicide bomber... But since he is not a child soldier, but a terrorist and thier is no child soldier clause in the defination of a terrorist is there making it a mout piont. -

Alleged crime yes, but kind of like a bank robber getting caught inside the vault with a pocket full of cash....But alleged only because he has not been convicted.... -
Actually, In a major study, the Economic Council of Canada summed up the Canadian literature as follows: “There is little or no effect of immigration on the per capita income of existing residents” Also Major studies in Canada, the United States, and Australia have found that, as a fraction of GDP, the economic gains from immigration are minuscule— certainly not large enough to justify maintaining a large immigration program My linkwww.fraserinstitute.org/

Here is another story of Canada's weak terrorist policies and sentences, Yes it's old but it goes along way into explaining how weak we really are when dealing with Terrorists His name Rheal Mathieu a former FLQ member, convicted of man slaughter of 2 persons during the FLQ crises for this crime he recieved a 9 year sentence and served 7.... Here is the Ironic part, Mathieu was sentenced to one month in jail for the botched firebombings in 2001, He was also given six months, to be served concurrently, for possession of a sawed-off shotgun and a .38-calibre revolver. The Crown maintained that Mathieu – the leader and possibly the only member of the French-language self-defence brigade – was solely responsible for the botched firebombings at the Second Cup cafes within a span of 15 minutes last October. It's Ironic because this is his 2nd terrorist conviction, 2 nd involving bombs, and he recieves one month...what was the judge thinking, He fire bombed 3 second cup stores because thier signs where in english... TORONTO — Two Canadians were sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for attempting to buy heat-seeking missiles and military assault rifles for Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers rebels. Thiruthanikan Thanigasalam and Sahilal Sabaratnam were sentenced in U.S. District Court in New York, where they were caught in 2006 trying to buy Russian SA-18 missiles and AK-47s. They pleaded guilty last January. The missiles were to be used to shoot down Sri Lankan military aircraft that were then bombing the rebels' enclave. The plot was directed by the senior leadership of the Tamil Tigers. Thanigasalam, 41, was the "big guy" of the Toronto-based arms procurement operation. He met personally with the rebels in Sri Lanka to secure their approval for the purchases. Sabaratnam, 30, a former associate at TD Waterhouse in Toronto, was the group's financial expert and helped arrange for the $1-million payment for the illicit weapons. A third Canadian, Satha Sarachandran, 30, the group's administrator, was sentenced to 26 years on Friday, while Nadarasa Yogarasa, a Sri Lankan living in the United States, got 14 years. The convictions were the result of a joint FBI-RCMP counter-terrorism operation called Project ONeedle, which investigated a group of Tamil Tigers supporters who shopped for equipment for the rebels. Another Canadian, Ramanan Mylvaganam, is in custody in Brooklyn awaiting trial. Two more Canadians, Piratheepan Nadarajah and "Waterloo" Suresh Sriskandarajah, are still awaiting extradition to the United States. U.S. prosecutors filed a new indictment against Mylvaganam and Sriskandarajah on Dec. 28, alleging they had conspired to provide weapons to the Tamil Tigers. The two men sentenced on Monday were brothers-in-law from Toronto. Both had immigrated My linknews.globaltv.com/ Oh NO...., more Canadian terrorist locked up in US prison, A joint effort FBI and RCMP busted these guys, US justice system gave out some tough sentences...funney it did not say whether they got the 2 for deal for time served...anyways i wonder if they'll have a Canadian support group demanding thier return to spend thier time in Canadian prisons and reduced time....Perhaps we can take a page out of thier justice system...

I hear the Canadian Armed Forces are in Haiti
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
For being all show Oleg they have alot of pers and equipment in warehouses on stand by, say's alot for our interest as well. Thats a myth, composed by politicians and gullable Canadians, who could not stand the thought of Our Nations military used for anything else but handing out blankets and candies...But reality say's different our military was a being used and trained to close with and destroy the enemy... I know deep down Oleg you like us, but were not that warm and fuzzy bunch of guys you think we are.... You mean like our SAR techs and the many pers involved with advance teams such as medical , engineers, those types of guys Oleg you should read some of our own media, it might open your opinion up alittle... -

I know you can't resist a good military bashing story, but atleast tell all of it, or put it into context. The above story is about the Advance party for the Field hospital (part of the expanded Dart), deployed in advance with very limited resources, such as med supplies, Thier main objective was get there as fast as they could with as much as they could. What medical supplies were consumed in the treatment of Haitians...as for the Anestesia machine, ya it broke, shit happens, try and take a delicate machine like that and take it off road in the back of a army truck , lets keep it all in context they are doing an impossiable job with limited resources...the Question you should have asked yourself is did they make a difference when they arrived, and I'm saying yes they did. they treated as many as they could saving how many lifes....thats what is missing from your story.. -
Would you commit rape under ideal circumstances?
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I think it's the other way around, our legal system is the first line of defence, we know it's wrong and the law will not allow us away with it...hence keeping our moral values some what in check... Remove that legal system, government and moral values go to hell and hand basket pretty fast...i've seen it to many times in areas of conflicts, where the law is absent and rapes become common practice ...look at Bosina rapes where very common, so common that it became a lesser crime, or somewhat morally acceptable.... -
Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Army Guy replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Oh i get it most kids , just not Omar...funney he has never said he was indoctinated though beating except when mentioning the US government and agencies....Did his family , friends terrorist group brain wash him ....perhaps...So your answer is what hugs and kisses, free ticket to ride...screw everyone this kid has hurt or hed thier lives changed forever.... What we only punish our kids here in Canada....we hold them responsiable for minor crimes and major crimes....Being taken prisoner on a battlefield is a very serious event would you not say....If we don't hold them accountable what message is that sending to the others that use child soldiers....Do you think anything in the Khadr trail will change thier minds in using children ? will it prevent children themselfs form commiting war crimes.... The conventions and inter-national law also says it does not preclude them from being punished or held accountable for thier actions....does it... No one should be given a free ticket to ride, a free pass to commit any crimes they want, and then pull out I'm a child card...Why is Khadr so different...he's not..want to hold someone responsiable lets look at his family, dear mom still collect that welfare check...here in Canada still has nothing good to say about Canadians and yet despite her haterd for us and our ways still refuses to leave.... I want justice to be served, Omar is going to set precedence in this country, as it already has with the toronto gang....what needs to be done is Canadians educated on just what crimes these terrorist have done, what impact they have on millions that only wish is to get on with thier lives....and yet we can't see past our own noses...we are more interested in making sure our troops don't rough up this scumbags, than the crimes commited in the name of some sick bastards mind. Hold them all responsable...give them thier day in court...and lets carry on... -
Yes, and thats exactly what we are going to continue happen when you bring someone off the battlefield and into the civil courts...But this is what frustrates me to no end, our ROE are based on genva conventions , inter-national and Canadian laws...And the shooting of Khadr was legal, in othr words nobody would have even blinked here in Canada if those same US soldiers had shot and killed Khadr...his actions clearly warranted the use of deadly force....and yet we can not prosicute him in a court of law...Thats ironic is it not... When you cross those lines from battlefield to courtroom, there is rarily going to be the clear cut edvidence we require to bring about a guilty plea...and until every soldier is equiped with a vid recorder it will not change... There have been recorded crimes on both sides of the fence, i would agree. and for the most part persons have been held accountable for those actions. As for Canadians handing over prisoners for torture , i think that needs to be reworded, alleged Canadians have handed over prisoners which may have been tortured, as far as i know no one has been charged of those crimes as of yet.... And yes a Capt in the CF has been charged with the murder of a wounded Taliban insurgent, and he will have his day in court, but this case is similar to Khadrs, all they have is a few statements, no evidence, no body, really nothing, and yet he has been charged and he will being going to court and if found guilty will be held responsiable for his actions...which is all we ask... In addition, the international guidelines called the "Paris Principles," which the U.S. supports, state that children who participated in armed conflict "should be considered primarily as victims of offences against international law," and that “all appropriate measures to promote physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration must be taken.” The Principles do not rule out the prosecution of child soldiers, only that their rehabilitation and society reintegration should take precedence. My linkwww.crimesofwar.org/ But whom are you going to put on trail for that Bin Ladin, so really in the long run it states it is illigal to recruit anyone under the age of 18, so who is a fault his father , mother, whom ? Did you send your son to a terrorrist training camp, did you hand him a AK 47 , did you leave him with known terrorist involved with terrorist activities such as ambushes and planting IED's again'st NATO soldiers...Thats the differenc between your 10 year old and Khadr...he knew he was going to kill NATO soldiers, he knew it was wrong...he knew the consquences....he also knew he did not have to be there...

Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Army Guy replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Thats a good start, considering some agree that he should not be punished at all. I think perhaps i've been unclear, In Afghan he is considered an adult,by thier culture , .. as this is where the crimes where committed, and should be tried ( my opinion)...however, in Canada at the time of the crimes he was considered a youth...however within our laws a youth can be charged and sentenced as an adult...That does not mean they will recieve the same sentence as an adult, or serve that time in an adult prison...After all the individual is a youth... Keep in mind that the Khadr case has not yet hit our justice system. and hence has not made any findings...However This is "not" the first time a youth has been tried as an adult, or sentenced as such in north america, I am assuming that there is some method of determining how this is done and what the rules are for this....I'm not a lawyer nor claim to be one, that being said my argument or counter argument is that some have said that Khadr did not know what was right or wrong, therfore can not be held responable for his actions. If there is no performa in determining what constitutes an adult crime, or who should be charged or treated as an adult then i would agree with your statement. and would have to be taken into account. I've tried to research this and since i'm not a lawyer can not translate all that legal BS into something that proves my statement... perhaps someone else with legal experience can explain it..I'm assuming that this has been done in the past, as we have had youth charged with adult crimes in our history. Like everything there are exceptions, that are age specific, you can join the military at age 17,allowed in combat at age 18 . but are not allowed to drink legally. Since we look at each case individually and arrive at a sober and objective asserssment of their adulthood...how do we do this? what were the exact mechanisms in which we discovered Khadr was not a child, but actually an adult? I know where your going with this, and i've explained before i'm not sure, and have not found anything to prove my piont....What we do know is this Khadr knew what he was doing was wrong, very seriously wrong, he aslo knew of the consquences for his actions, and understood them clearly...for this he should be held responsiable, -
Queens Council and former MP found dead in Haiti
Army Guy replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is really to much.... Have you thought of starting your own web site....you could call it things i pull out of my ass... or My favorite " MOM You shrank my underwear again...there to tight and turning my balls blue....". -
William you never cease to amaze me with your twisting of facts and figures...thats quit a reach having to go all the way back to 1991-92 to dig up some dirt on the JTF....must have been a slow day for you and the media....I really impressed the way you go from talking about Security for the games into a thread slamming the JTF and military....Not bad for a guy who wants to join the military...
-
You are aware that our current government has talked to the US government and both agreed that the death penalty would not on the table...Thats what our government has to do with it, and the US government does care what we think or they would have said piss off.... Do you really know anything about this case or are you talking out your ass. my guess is the latter... And when do you think they became involved William. How many families this guy got, maybe you should rephrase that.... US forces had nothing to do with the killing of Khadrs father and brother, try checking that out once again....they where killed in a fire fight with Pakistani forces...not a US soldier among'st them... As for the humanitarian your joking right. how many humanitarians armed with Ak 47's you know get killed in a shoot out with military forces, ...your facts suck william....i think you need to adjust that Facts from your ass machine, make it atleast some what crediable....

IS it, so was the Mcpl's feat treating serveral of his comrads with his legs blown off, and bleeding out. so there is a possiablity it could have happen, perhaps Mr Khadr did not have to bury himself, perhaps the debris fell on top of him, I think this is a more likly explantion, remember the entire site was attacked by aircraft, so the building structures would have been serverally comprimised... He was accused of serveral things, throwing the grenade that killed a US medic is one of them, and i'm not changing anything, the US is. As for the other fighter found, if the statements are true he was killed earlir in the firefight, so that rules him out, nobody else was found alive at the scene, hence why it is assumed that the only one that could have thrown the grenade is Khadr....And i've already agreed with you their is doubt there....But what about the other facts, he was there to start off with, remember it was the Taliban that started this dance with the killing of serveral aghanis soldiers who knocked on the door....the second fact is a recently fired wpn was found next to him, and then there is the tape. which shows him playing around with mines used to make IED's then planting them at night with his buddies....all of the above clearly show serveral chargable offensives... Come on Wyly your a smart guy, are we calling Al Quaida freedom fighters now...Inter national community will disagree even the UN has slotted them in the terrorist catagory. I think your grasping at straws here...I've seen the Al Quaida's work up close and personally, a man stripped of all his skin left to die or should i say cook in the morning sun...ya nice guys... That says nothing of his innocence but rather his guilt , and speaks of our weak justice system....not Mr Khadr....He has been classified a terrorist, and thier are NO child soldier in this classification. check under the Genva convention, or even our Canadian laws...sorry..i don't make the rules... Look our justice system has charged youths or minors with adult crimes, and have sentenced them, those are a matter of record. At age 15 he is mentally competent, enough so that he knows right from wrong, he knows planting mines will kill NATO soldiers, he knows firing a wpn will kill...He's been trained to kill, and knows the consquences....He knows the difference between life and death....remember his mother wanted him to be a suicide bomber, he refused ,he chose life, because he wanted to live...so he knows the difference.... Red necks don't join the KKK because they are not racist, they do so because they are and want to be a part of that club, or culture....Khadr is a terrorist, he wanted to follow his father footsteps...now that he is caught he must also atone for his actions...
-
Nobody mention the death penalty, On top of that your aware that our government has ensured that if charged under US law no death penalty would be sought.
-
I'll answer your questions honestly, the wounds are severe life threatening and if not treated deadly. Could he have moved, I'd say yes depending on the indiv, enough to buring himself i could not know 100%. remember the young MCPL medic, how has lost both his legs in that IED incident that claimed the the diplomat, not only did he trat himself, but he manged to crawl and treat serveral of his buddies as well, all this with missing a leg and the other hanging but some tissue...so it is possiable , but i can not say 100% about Khadr condition or abilities... All the statements run about the same, accounting approx the same thing...They assumed Khadr threw the grenade , because nobody else was alive...so there is doubt there, but what is very clear, is Khadr was involved in the fight, wpns where found near both bodies, and then there is the vid found in the rubble, showing him tooling around with mines, and then out one night planting them, bragging how he is going to collect the bounty for dead americans. And those two facts make him atleast a terrorist.

Here is another story of a known terrorist here in Canada. seems he's been refused the right to become a lawyer, inspired by the lawyers that represented him during his bout with the law... This guy has balls made of iron, he has entered Canada under a false name, has been ordered to be deported, and still has time to ask the courts of this country if he can be a lawyer...Thats our justice system at work... mean while thousands of EX Canadian soldiers have to take to our justice system to fight for meager pensions awarded to them because they have been disabled in the service of this country....sounds alittle ironic does it not.... Another update to the Toronto 18, this man recieved a 7 1/2 year sentence and will be free to walk the very streets and cities he threaten to blow up this THURSDAY...He also recieved the very generous two for one deal. But hey if it's worth anything he says he's sorry, and would like to become an engineer.. My linknews.globaltv.com/world

And while Medical supplies are on the priority list they are not on the top...Troops and equipment are, along with food and water...without those items everything else are just moot...We all have to remember Haiti is in caus with hundrds of groups, nations, all trying to help, each with thousands of problems to solve at the same time...it is going to get worse before it gets better... Getting suppies into the country is just the first step,of a very massive problem.... next is creating that countries transport network from scratch which includes land , air, and water delivery systems....all of which requires troops and equipment...and this is just one problem of thousands...because everyone is trying to create the same thing all at once....The US is doing this job, what needs to happen is we all need jion forces with them and work together...instead of recreating the wheel a thousand times, with a thousands results...it's not about this is what Canada did for haiti, or france or italy...it's about remaining focused and helping the Haitian people..

maple_leafs182 Every been to Afghanistan ? ever meet anyone from Afghanistan ? Have you read anything about Afghanistan in relation to thier history, culture, people....YA i think it's worth it... Who are we really fighting for, Both...But what your really trying to say is i can't be fighting for Canadians because a large majority do not believe in the mission , would that be correct.... And yet lets go back in time to the start of the mission, the majority of Canadians did support the mission, in fact thousands where at the airport to wave good bye to our combat troops, the same troops that had very specific orders from our government "we where to close with and destroy the enemy", I'll translate that for you, Canada was sending combat troops to go over to Afghanistan and send those little heathen bastards to thier heathen gods, via the use of superior firepower, and Canadian fighting sprite...And the PPCLI did just that, infact they did so well the US government recogized there efforts by awarding medals and citations....And the majority of Canadians cheered....clapped...and pionted those men are our troops, thier Canadians.... From that day forward we've been in combat, we've been doing what we where told to do, what the majority of Canadians wanted us to do.... Fast track to today...The majority of Canadians no longer support the mission, they want our troops home, but thats where it all stops just words in some poll, or some media article or some forum...and while you are entilted to your opinion, you've got a lot of balls to ask me who i'am fighting for... I'm fighting for Canadians, the same Canadians that set up this mission, who agreed that it was an honourable one, worth our time, and effort. And that will continue until the Majority of Canadian get off thier asses and exericise some of their democratic rights and do something about it. which i pretty sure they won't...so they have to suck up what our government dishes out...with our military stuck in the middle... Because they want the right to impose thier ways and rule on others freely...without outside interference...They are extremists...willing to bring on more harm to thier own people than ours...The Taliban have killed more of thier own citizens than they have NATO troops...In fact most of thier targets are thier own people....
-
You are aware that he and the others have confessed, freely admitted his plans and his guilt....and playing paint ball and studing where not even mentioned....SO what real story are you talking about... I think this explains alot. please thank your MOM for the inventive posts.
-
I'll admit, i think he's guilty, but that was not intent of this post. Rather than piont out that this trail has set a precedence for sentencing, If he is found guilty, then there is a good chance he will be released a free man, for time already served... I disagree with your comment that our justice system includes our values which is what we are defending. I know i'm opening up another can of worms here that i may regret later, but i don't think todays justice system reflects our values very well at all. And while it may be a part of what Canada is, i and many others think our justice system needs alot of work to be brought in line with our core values. As for the evidence i've said this a thousand times, it is almost impossable to have the same standards of evidence on the battlefield , as we have here in Canada, where crime scenes are cordoned off, specialist brought in to collect and process evidence....on the battlefield your lucky to get a few pictures, gathering up evidence, is not a priority. Security, and living to fight another day is...Failing to take into account these will be a mistake for our justice system here.... I disagree, and so does our justice system, or there would not have been the distinct difference between say murder, and attemted murder, or the other various degrees of taking a life...All crime is not equal nor should it be punished equally...
-
I think some people need to gear down, you just don't launch an opertion of serveral thousand troops expect to hit the shores and shoot rations and fresh water out your ass, saving the day....it all takes planning and prepartion, infra structure, equipent, and troops...every thing that haiti has little to none of.... Assigning blame, pionting to the military....thier to blame...give me a break...you nor the media have a clue to what it takes to get stores , supplies, troops, equipment from one airport to another, 1 plane arrives every 2 minutes of the day....think about that...people civilian and military...on the same flights...equipment needed to process clean water, to do construction, thosands of problems all being solved at the same time...
