You have not even heard the questions yet, how can you make an assumption before knowing what the questions will be. Perhaps it is the idea of any questions being asked that you dislike. And you've already made up your mind, "nope questions will not do" and are not open to any other argument. And yet Argus has already provided evidence that our Immigration offices are over worked, and do not spend much time on each file, in fact have to complete x amount of files per day like a quota. Hard to be our nations first line of defence when you spend less than 10 minutes on each file...Perhaps the questions are not enough, perhaps what we need is a total revamp of the immigration system, where proper security checks can be done, references checked out, proper intel files made. Right now we are playing Russian roulette with terrorists or possible terrorist. They're are already examples of known criminals entering our nation, once they have become known , we can not find them or evict them...or bring them to justice takes years.... And here we are arguing about some questions, and what should they be composed of..Sounds about right , no wonder our nation can not make decisions in a timely manner.

Universal guaranteed income experiment
Army Guy replied to WestCoastRunner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So are all tax payers now going to be held accountable for people who have made bad choices along the long road of life. getting pregant at 15 or 16 years of age, failure to complete high school, failure to get a higher education, to damn lazy to get of their arses to find a good job or upgrade their education...for every free program you bring forward, there are thousands that will take advantage of it....every one likes free.... What ever happened to work hard and earn a honest living....there are thousands of jobs out there , Stop blaming automation on job losses, automation has been happening since the begining of the 1900's.....it is not a new concept, failure to keep current in what jobs are viable or not ,and your deemed to find yourself in the unemployment lines. -
Are you suggesting their is no one in Canada capable of composing a series of questions that would assist immigration officials in revealing these traits. I mean the military has a test that measures certain traits required for certain occupations, in fact they have been using them for years now. Because the posters do not know the exact question that would be asked does not mean the whole topic is not valid.

Here is an awesome idea, lets not recruit from that region.

Voicing your opinion has a cost then, that cost is getting arrested, or hurt in a riot or worse....One could have told harper to screw off many different ways , registered letter, e-mail, a sign in the city, any ways you get the point.....My point i was making is you can not fight city hall and expect to win.

Well if those Countries have displayed the will not to change, in fact none of them have expressed the need to change or become less oppressive. why is that because their religion forbids it.....But the new wave of technology and our uncontrollable need to hug everyone has lead us down this path....we have tried our systems onto other countries , it failed, leaving those countries to their own devices , has failed, now we want to invite them into our country, and turn them into Canadians by constant hugging....which is no different than forcing our systems onto them, i mean do you think they just want to be Canadian ...if so why can't they be converted in their own homelands...... but that is not where you want to stop is it.....we have to compromise, to make everything all nice, so what do we give up, and what do they gain to make all this work....

Something was going on, or are you saying cops were just roaming the streets picking up people for any reason...Why even go near that section of the city unless you lived there. and if so, would it not be good advise to stay indoors until it was all over. You mention stupid cops, who for the most part have no training in this type of event, not like it happens every month or year..so yes things went wrong, a few of your rights got stepped on. Canada may not be perfect, but i'll take living here over any place in the world. I thank god daily for allowing me to do so.

Yes they do change, but most of the time the change your looking for takes generations to effect, I to lived in Germany for 8 years, and while i adjusted very easily , their culture was very similar to ours, and for the most part the language barrier was the hardest to over come..Not that hard really. Please note i lived there in the 90's, a lot has changed since then. I've also lived in the middle east, 12 months in israel, and Golan Heights in Syria, plus 19 months in Afghanistan, and a couple of weeks in Dubia.....and i can say it is going to take more than a generation to effect change in those countries. why because their religion does not efford change. I'll ask the question again, why do we need to recruit people in these regions ? why can we not recruit from other areas of the globe....

Just for the record was anyone charged for all those burning cars or store front windows that were broken and stores looted....and Who goes shopping when their is a riot going on, or is that how you guys roll in Ontario. the Smell of tear gas was not a hint, nor was the large crowds of angry people.

Just to pause a second here, So we agree that Canada has a lot of intolerance, but a lot less than some of the most liberal or westernized muslim countries such as Turkey. So much so that you described it as far worse than you ever seen in your life time......Did you just paint a entire country, sorry city, with the same brush....every citizen in Ankara , Turkey is far worse than any Canadian you've meet in your life time....WOW....so knowing this, Explain to some of us why we have to take in Immigrants or refugees from these areas. When it is clear that our cultures clash, and will continue to clash for generations to come. Is it some Canadian need to change them, or that we are lacking in our multi cultural society a muslim element of some sort. Why is there a need to recruit persons from this region, if even a liberal mind poster sees them as intolerant.

Army Guy replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canada's national Debt has grown in size , todays debt stands at 612 bil dollars in 2015...how is not growing when the numbers keep getting bigger. -
Really you can't think of one single Canadian value our nation could be looking for in other immigrants.

Predict how Canada will look like in 4 years
Army Guy replied to webc5's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Did I not say that the Cons were responsible for all decisions made during their reign of power ....I thought so, but if your going to deny that the Libs and NDP were pursuing massive spending to stim the economy your wrong.... -

And yet no one has stuck a toe in those waters, to test it out....I may not be a financial guru, but there must be a good reason if politicians have not tried it yet.....a man or women could earn a lot of votes with a steady income of 100 bils of free dollars...shit even I would vote liberal -

And what happens if Canada's economy takes a nose dive and interest rates go way up.....reality works both ways does it not... -

What has changed from then to now, has Canada suddenly found a money tree, or a secret Santa. or perhaps it has determined we will always be in debt and to just stop trying to control debt. Please explain. -
Predict how Canada will look like in 4 years
Army Guy replied to webc5's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You tell me, I never posted we could spend 100 bil a year, and not really feel anything. But I do agree there needs to be a balance, but sooner or later someone needs to pay off these debts....me, my kids, my grand children, they're kids etc, etc. Well according to Chretien actions, running a deficit is a no fly zone, to be avoided at all costs even if it means gutting entire depts....a 180 degree turn from what you have advised why did Chretien not spend his way out of trouble..... -

Yes Chretien did do as you say, but at what cost to the many depts. he gutted....DND is still feeling the effects of the decade of darkness, along with most of the other depts. in the security apparatus. -

Yes, Smallc is correct they government of the day is responsible for all decisions.....But correct me if I'm wrong, was their not tremendous pressure from both NDP, Liberal, and others to spend to stim our economy ? -

A lot of things look good on paper, But the question was why has a government not chosen to go down this route ? Or could it be there is more to going into massive debt than your telling us. -
No, not all Germans were Nazi's, In fact history has shown us thousands of examples of Germans, being sent to prison or concentration camps or escaping to other countries for speaking out, or refusing to take part in Nazi Ideology. History has also shown us that a far larger number took part in Nazi activities out of fear, fear of being sent to prison, the front, or concentration camps if they did not take part. Does this mean that because you take part in Nazi activities that you are a survivor or a Nazi ?...I thought that argument was shot down in Nuremburg as a defense statement , I was just following orders if I did not I or my family would be endanger from other Nazis. The very fact they took part in Nazi activities, be it out of fear, or survival still made they NAZI's, or supporters of that cause. That they would be held accountable in some form or another. By mid war most of Germany's citizens, were supporting the Nazi war effort in one form or anther....making them NAZI's. And if in your mind it just makes them survivors, then what of the German citizen that refused to work for or partake in Nazi rule, and paid for that decision with their lives...are they just unfortunate or did they simply make the wrong choice. Could the same argument be made about muslims in some of the extremist countries in the world....

Here you go again, talking out of both sides of your month again. Now your defending the liberals position on spending, in fact you saying we can pretty much enjoy unlimited spending forever.....lets knock the clock back a few months ago, when the subject was military spending, where you state There is only so much money to spend, and it is needed else where, other than the military...So what is it can we spend like drunken sailors, or do we need to watch every dollar that is spent as our debt means something in the long run.... And I'm not just talking about the military there is hundreds of Bils in shortfalls when it comes to critical infra structure repairs or replacement projects, Health care, and even Education that could be redone under the federal umbrella, if what you say is true, 100's of bils each and every year for ever...... Would solve a lot of problems would it not....So my only question is why has no one done it yet. If it is the magic pill why have we not swallowed it yet ? Why has 'nt another nation gone this route ? I'm thinking a lot is going to happen, and those in charge have been given advice NOT to go down that road.... -
There are always examples of out of the norm behavior, Yes there are women that walk around bare faced in Kabul, a major city center.....but lets put that into some context, there are more women in Burkas than not.....But then I've also seen a young women beaten to death over defacing a Koran....before anuone could react she was beaten, and stoned to death in a public street, then burnt, all of this right next to a place of worship.....with over 1000 people in attendance, including Afghan police....who tried to no avail to save her....It would be later discovered it was not her that defaced the Koran , but someone else.....the power of the MOB.....and while I agree there are similar things that happen in the west.....I'm pretty sure Christians do not take their children to public stoning's to take part in a brutal killing of women, children, or the elderly...perhaps if you look hard enough at our past maybe....

Still Going to Buy the F-35, Really?
Army Guy replied to Hoser360's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What a typical Canadian answer, sad really, when we are talking about the defense of our own nation.....It shows a lot of character, to watch someone else do all the work and take all the risks, and to be good with it all at the end of the day.... -
Sweden says cold war is back, starts conscription
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in The Rest of the World
That is part of the problem, there are many plans in place, everybody got a plan.....but nobody has the time or effort to put the plan into motion......as for the Defense Acquisition guide.....WOW.....some of these projects are over 15 years old...and would have to start from scratch again to be viable....but at least we have a list.... And let not forget about the defense review.... can hardly wait for those results to be implemented....I wish you guys would stop pumping sunshine up peoples asses.....there is NO appetite for military spending....along with no shortage of willing citizens to serve this ungrateful nation.....everything will stay the same, no changes at all.
