Would you like some sofrito sauced "democracy" ?
Army Guy replied to Altai's topic in The Rest of the World
I Understood it all to well, some how you think your providing valuable content to this forum, when really your just confirming what we have been thinking all along......"i'm glad i don't live in Tukey", i also under stand your a bored teenager and for kicks you enjoy coming here on a Canadian forum to express your political statements, and to tell all of us westerns how evil we are....and how we should be like turkey, a shinning example of how everyone should conduct their lives....Sorry, but despite all our warts and problems i will take democracy any day, i think ASH74 said it perfectly.....we love our democracy.....I really don't give a shit whether you support democracy or not, your opinion means nothing in the grand scheme of things.....your people will continue to immigrate to Canada, because they have very a different opinion than you, Those Turkish people they are most likely out of diapers, and not living with mom and dad, they also love what democracy can do for them, and their families....Not many Canadians wake up one morning and say, shit i hate this oppression...i think i'll move to turkey..... -
Yes, taste like Mom's cooking......unless your mom's cooking sucked.....

May your turkey day be filled with food that tastes like moms , that you eat until you have to undo your belt.....and then have a nap

Although Combat has changed alot since WWI, even WWII, the concept is still the same, one must have good order and discipline to tell a man to perform his duties in combat even though there is a good chance those soldiers may not live through it....One of those ways is to Have a good solid base of morals and values that form our nations civil laws.....then have Military laws which provide a basic guide for soldiers through the chaos of combat. while some of these laws may sound strange or foreign to most, lets not forget the death penalty was just removed from DND not all that long ago for capitol offenses , and a few others such as desertion during combat, refusing orders in combat etc etc.........That being said it's a law that can be changed at the whim of our politicians. Lets also just add that during WAR, not all of our Nations soldiers are there on their own will, some will be forced to serve by our government.... There is already enough distractions for a soldier in life as there is, DND is an organization that when you boil it all down has one major concern. That is the man to your left and right...you can't do that when your thinking is he a racist etc etc , ie member of the KKK or Black power movement, Taliban etc.....Does he or she have my back when the time comes.... hence the need to be neutral, or at least when it counts....not saying DND members are pure, there are racists, and other assholes we are after all a slice from our nation citizens..... The Military once had a recruitment add which said there is no life like it.....and there is not....for the most part Canada has always had a volunteer military force, people that wanted to be a part of something different , and to be part of that , includes having some of your basic rights taken away or toned down... -

While very true on paper DND does serve the Queen, that being said our commander and chief is a figure head at best, more like a safety switch per say , So the government can not order the military into action again'st it's own people or any outside nation without just cause, or a check in the box by the GG...That being said the government does have direct control over it's military, it's budget, it's orders, it's personal....as it does control the Governor General as well, -

Is democracy the one "be all" and "end all" forms of government , no it is not, far from it.....I mentioned the kurds because i to find it hypocritical that you being from Turkey are slamming the west for their approaches to , and choose of government , I get it most middle eastern countries prefer the dictatorship style, being told what to do when to do it, with very little freedoms for the citizens..... it is very similar to your religion actually, and we all tend to gravitate towards what we know....Turkey has a long and most of times bloody past, as we all do really, but Turkey has been doing it alot longer, one would think they would have perfected something by now...And still even with the massive age difference Turkey is still oppressing it's citizens and fellow cultures such as the Kurds, and others.....I know sometimes we all do not learn on the same curve.....maybe one day... -

Constitutional rights in the Canadian Forces
Army Guy replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is not that they do not have the right, All Canadians have the right to join what ever group they want, but as with all our rights there are consequences for exercising them or for not making good choices. I believe the DND spoke person said that joining these groups went again'st the CF ethics...DND has always struggle with their image, Canadians do not stand behind anything that is military, as most problems around the globe are attached to some form of military action or conflict, they also attribute or forget that DND is control by our elected government and there fore pionts blame for Conflicts at DND, when it is our government that pulls the strings...To counter this DND has many programs to correct this image problem one of them is the entire ethical program, which preaches what is good and bad ethical behavior, also women's rights, sexual harassment, and many more, plus on top of all that there are some basic rules that differ from the rest of the civilian population. All DND members actions also reflect on the governing party...and they don't want to look bad... Serving DND members are not allowed to take part in any political rally or Campaign, they are not allowed to run for any political office, provincial or federal, they are held to a higher standard the the rest of the population via a second set of laws or military code of conduct....Remember some of these rules are only enforced in times of crises, such as combat, for example at one time a officer could order the death of a soldier for not compiling to an order, such as charge that machine gun nest, the soldier knowing that if he carried out that action would result in his death.....nor compiling to that order would mean his death.....So to keep good order and discipline they have many laws and rules that may seem strange to you, but are necessary. Once you join the Military, or RCMP, CSIS, Coast Guard, Border services, they all take an oath of serve and protect this nation, from the nations enemies domestically or abroad ....to the point they may be asked to give their lives for it. to accomplish that some rights are given up. Remember all these rules are not thought up by DND they are imposed by Government... Today the rules and restrictions are not as bad as yester year, at one time 30 to 40 years ago, DND rules were severely restrictive, governing things like marriage, where you lived, to whom you lived with, where you traveled, what you did on your spare time, where you could work as a second source of income, what political party you supported, what race could join or what religion you could be.....many many more..., -
The pointless waste and vanity of our refugee system
Army Guy replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I just want to be clear from the start , that your right Canada belongs to all Canadians, regardless of color, race, creed , religion ,etc.....and while our Nations war cemeteries are full of men and women of mostly white heritage, there are also men and women from all the cultures from that period of Canada's history....North American Indian, Japanese, chinese, African American etc.....All giving their sacrifices for our nation, and all of them counting equally. That being said when you ask someone from say europe, or asia, or what ever " what does a typical Canadian look like" do they say east indian,Pakistanis, African American, North American Indian.....most of them if not all, will say Canadians are white, and play hockey and live in igloos..... Why is that, while traditional Canada has been white...for most of it's history.....White is still the majority skin color....And you don't need to be a Neo Nazi to see that..... Lets not even bring up Zul-Fiqar attitude about the whole subject who basically said the same thing.........when he states that he was born in Canada , and his citizenship holds more water than someone who just immigrated here....WOW, who cares...... does that mean that i , having family here in Canada for 5 generations, have more say than ZUL-Fiqar and any Canadian matter i don't think so..........he also states that there should be less white people immigrating to Canada......and then wonders why every one else is a little pissed off at his remarks....his statements were meant to create a negative reaction, he is nothing more than a "troll"....a troll that is not happy with is Canadian citizenship status and one that has a poor historical knowledge about his birth country..........Canada is not holding you prisoner, your free to return to your parents original country....at anytime...it seems racistism is a double edge sword..... -
Not sure why you even mention about him being a child soldier, like it is some sort of get out jail free card.....it is not that at all....read the UN definition about being a child soldier read the fine print, child soldiers can be held responsible for their actions..... Perhaps you can give us a source where dollar amounts were discussed in the courts.....according to the Toronto sun there was NO such talks about money...that was a liberal decision to offer a dollar value.....the government decides when it is finished with the courts decisions....they have deep pockets....and could have drugged this out for forever.....much like our broken promises and treaties with our native American .....The government runs Canada not the courts.....They are above the law....

Bullshit, The day of his capture none of his parents were around, both were hundreds of kms away.... The man in charge of Omars protection decided getting into a fire fight with American SF soldiers was more important, than watching the little boy Omar.....wait a 15 year old, considered to be a Man in Afghanistan at age 12....While he was under this mans protection for months Omar could have simply walked off during this time....But he did not he liked what he was doing, playing terrorist for a world reknown terrorist group..... Perhaps you can provide a quote where as you claim his father threatened him with death.....
-
SO are we to forget he was taken off a battle field in Afghanistan......as some form of POW>>..where they can hold you as long as the conflict is ongoing....Did the US government not provide Omar with a military lawyer, yes or no....again i am no lawyer, and by no means an expert.....and i am trying to educate myself in this matter.....it seems black and white to me....am i missing something or not...
-
if it smells like sh**, taste like sh**, odds are it is Sh**....
-
You mean held in Gitmo, just curious where where they to hold these combatant/ illegal combatants. and why would they need legal representation....only those that were charged needed a legal beagle....and i'm sure Omar had a military lawyer did he not....The rest where just being housed off the battle field ...And i'm sure the Canadian Constitution means squat when your sitting in a POW camp....
-
Thanks, clears up alot of things....on my side....
-
why is it a bogus court, military commissions have been around since WWII , and will be around for quit some time in the future....and we will see more Omars in them....The reason the SCOTUS had issues with it, is because the judge had pronounced him as an enemy combatant...which has no jurisdiction to bring charges or hear charges of legal combatants....The judge messed up.....and was replaced.
-
The charges are dropped in 2007, and yet he was released in 2014/15...how could that be......i know our justice system is slow but 8 years slow...come on....i think your article is timed out....written before the transfer to Canadian prison....ask your self this why transfer him to prison if the charges had been dropped....it does not make sense....or maybe i'm missing something.... The charges were dropped a couple of times, mainly because of the mistake made by the administrative commision that claimed Omar was a enemy combatant....when that very commision was instructed by the US government and the President to classify all taliban and terrorists as Unlawful combatants.....this all stems from the UN not being able to clarify the definition of terrorist....and because of that it was not able to produce any updates on illegal combatants...which is already a definition used by the UN.
-
And Osama paid for his crimes with a bullet to the head, to trail, to chance for a judge to f*** everything up, his body then flown out to sea and dropped off for fish bait....or so the story goes...
-
Yes , it does, however show me the quote where it says that children CAN NOT be held responsible for their crimes...And are you saying that we here in Canada have not given a child an adult sentence for serious crimes? well he had to have been sitting up to get 2 bullet holes into the back .....time line is everything here.... Consider nothing.....every been to a car accident, or robbery, something traumatic.....talk to 100 people and you'll get 100 different stories....on top of that not everyone was in the same location, their stories will be from different angles....different stories.... No one will ever get the same level of evidence from a battle field engagement that is required here in Canada....there is no CSI unit that comes in after the battle to make sure it was all above board....and yet there are investigations that happen all the time, Take a look at the Capt Semeau case...very little evidence and what was collected would be in no way to the same level as here at home....and yet he was charged.
-
Semrau case is apples to oranges, he put a man out of his misery, due to the pain of his wounds.....the wounded Taliban had been hit by an A-10 and 30 mm shells, taking of both legs and most of the lower half of his body....even if there was a surgeon right there it was unlikely they could save him....Air medicvac was 30 plus mins away.... Shooting a man with an empty wpn is not a war crime.....Can you tell if a wpn is loaded or unloaded in a quick glance....one would have to drop all wpn's in order for it to be a war crime and be in the act of surrender....
-
source please , will need to place this statement in the time table to make any sense of it.....
-
Taken from your own link..... which meant Omar was to be tried as an unlawful enemy combatant as they are the only ones the commission had jurisdiction over...
-
No, his criminal charges were dismissed....however during his "administrative hearings" where they were determined to be “illegal combatants." the administrative hearing are a separate process, not done by the military commission or Kangaroo court as you called it.....That being said being an Illigal combatant is a war crime in its self , and he has not been charged with this crime....
