  1. It says a lot if you have to go back to 1964 for an example. That was over 50 years ago. On average. Short men are on average physically weaker than tall men. Old men are on average weaker than young men, etc. There are many women that are perfectly capable of helping others if they are in need of help. Maybe, maybe not. But sexist gender roles do not help.
  2. So you take a sexist position and then in an attempt to dismiss it try to impose some sort of 'problems with women' on me? Sex should not matter. Any other position is sexist.
  3. If it were a woman being under attack, you bet people would be jumping in to help. But if it is a man under attack, people are far less willing since men have less value to society (due to memetic evolution and the fact that women have more reproductive utility). The lack of empathy towards men is a big issue in society. And there were also women. What is with the sexist attitude that it is only men that are suppose to help people in need? Either people of all sexes should be expected to help, or no one should be expected to help.
  4. And to do that you hope that being female will be an immense advantage? Well, I'll leave it up to you to sort out your cognitive dissonance.
  5. So are you advocating that sex should matter when it comes to who should run a country?
  6. Meanwhile, that is just life for male domestic violence victims today. Yeah, because she is living in the past. Being female will be an immense advantage. The 'it is time for a women' narrative will be very powerful and sway a lot of voters.
  7. New paper out by Richard Tol. https://www.sussex.ac.uk/webteam/gateway/file.php?name=wps-75-2015.pdf&site=24 The results of climate economists Tol, Nordhaus and Weitzman all seem to suggest that climate change reduces global GDP by approximately 0.2%*(deltaT)^2, where deltaT is the temperature minus pre-industrial temperatures in celcius.
  8. European health care systems are superior to both the Canadian system and the American system.
  9. It is a sexual orientation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexuality I had no such desires to begin with.
  10. Okay... There are asexuals that support men's rights. So your claim does not hold.
  11. I am asexual. Many men that support men's rights are gay. I'm also not sure where transpeople fit into your claim. But way to reinforce traditional gender roles where men are not supposed to complain about anything or have their concerns taken seriously.
  12. Canada is sending more delegates to Paris than the US, UK and Australia combined.

Anything Harper did we 'evil' so suck it up, Trudeau will not be getting a free pass.

  13. Posted this a few days ago... but no one seems interested. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/topic/25325-expected-social-welfare-maximization/
  14. These 'findings' have been debunked. http://hubpages.com/politics/Chinese-Scientist-Prove-The-First-Inhabitants-Of-China-Were-Black Humans started leaving Africa around 100,000 years ago. https://mathildasanthropologyblog.wordpress.com/2008/03/18/the-jomon-of-japan-13000-bc-to-300-bc/
  15. No, they are more closely related to Native Americans and Austronesians. They are about 15,000 years removed from Chinese people, and both groups are about 30,000 years removed from Europeans. No, the Ainu have been in Japan for ~15,000 years. And while on this topic, the Chinese were not the first people in China. The Austronesians were.
  16. Where did I claim that? Nowhere. So you proved a claim I never made wrong by giving examples of people building thermal solar in the past... So much logic fail...
  17. I can't mention every single person as I am limited in how long it can be. Why do you think it is necessary that I mention Samuelson?
  18. And the fact that we don't fund defence for invasions by flying spaghetti monsters in case they attack us means that our government is playing roulette with our lives.
  19. What you wrote doesn't dispute the fact that photovoltaic is cheaper. How does increase in solar thermal suggest that photovoltaic isn't cheaper in 2015? Are you dumb? I don't know. If people like William Nordhaus and Richard Tol are estimating ~$20/ton optimal taxes and that is with overestimates of climate sensitivity, I don't see why $40/ton makes any sense.
  20. Photovoltaic Solar is now cheaper than Thermal Solar, even at heating water. Thermal solar is dead. Also, the problem isn't so much dealing with diurnal variation in renewable energy production, but annual variation.
  21. Nah. The child's race is muslim. Muslims can't be white. Even Ben Affleck knows that!
  22. Sure it is. Free food, lots of selfies, ability to give climate funds to rent seekers, etc.
  23. You clearly need an update on how to be progressive SJW: 1. Only black people are allowed to be witch-doctors because otherwise it would be cultural appropriation. 2. Stereotypes. You are not allowed to say anything that resembles a stereotype. 3. If someone can interpret your comment to be offensive, then it needs to be banned/silenced, even if no one is offended and there was no intention of offense.
  24. Hi, My guest post on Judith Curry's blog has been posted here: http://judithcurry.com/2015/11/29/decision-making-under-uncertainty-maximize-expected-social-welfare/ This is a shorter version of a longer version here: https://curryja.files.wordpress.com/2015/11/expected-social-welfare-maximization-2.pdf The longer version has a lot more nuance, but I had to keep the word limit to around 4000 for the shorter version. If you want to make any comments on it, please post here. Expected social welfare maximization is a way to make decision making under uncertainty. This is especially applicable to climate change, where uncertainty is fairly high. Though it can be applied to pretty much any policy question, from immigration, to education, to healthcare.
