  1. Don't worry. Students in Ottawa are super tolerant of differing view points. youtube video
  2. Well if you were to eliminate urinals then you would lose the efficiency argument for non-segregated urinals. Not to mention that some women would be willing to use urinals.
  3. They should have done that years ago when the civil war was starting. But instead the West, lead by idiot politicians like Harper, Obama and Cameron, were convinced that they needed to fund the 'moderate' rebels, demanded that Assad step down even though he had a significant share of the population supporting him, and wanted to engage in a proxy war against Russia in Syria. Even as evidence was being shown that the 'rebels' were cannibalistic fanatics. Russia and Syria have been arguing for a peace agreement for years. youtube video But don't worry. Our birth right Prime Minister and his defense minister are convinced Assad must go at all costs. Trudeau has also told us that he will tell Putin to not be a bully, to his face! I'm sure they will help bring sunny ways to Syria.
  4. Why do you think it is without economic cost? The more broad the tax, generally the smaller the economic impact of it for the revenue generated. This is why a broad tax on CO2 emissions is the most economically efficient way at reducing emissions. However, a consumption tax is even broader and has less economic impact. So by generating revenue with a CO2 emission tax rather than a consumption tax, there is an economic cost.
  5. I was demonstrating how authority figures are not necessarily right. So appeals to authority are bad arguments. Look at this man in authority with a funny hat. He must be right about the universe because he is an 'expert' that has dedicated his life to understanding it!: It doesn't 'confirm' white privilege. It shows evidence of a bias against foreign sounding names. And there are cases where having a foreign sounding name is a benefit (example: Chinese sounding name when applying to engineering jobs). The point is things aren't universal, they are far more nuanced than that. It also shows that there is an advantage to having a female sounding name over a male sounding name that is larger than the effect of having a non-foreign sounding name vs a foreign sounding name. Yet all these 'experts' you keep referring to also believe in 'male privilege'. Oh wow, you really are a member of the church of social justice. Look, if you look at a lot of the evidence that is used to suggest that blacks are on average disadvantaged relative to whites, such as lower life expectancy, higher rate of homelessness, being charged for longer sentences for the same crimes, higher rate of being murdered or assaulted, etc. all of those show that men are disadvantaged relative to women. The effect of being male vs female when it comes to criminal sentencing is 6 times the effect of being black vs white! http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2144002 http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1985377 If being male is so much better than being female, then why do men commit suicide at 3.5 times the rate of women and why to transwomen outnumber transmen by a similar ratio? Why do women consistently have higher self reported happiness? Women have a higher life expectancy. Men are twice as likely to be the victim of a violent crime (physical assault, murder, etc.). Men are more likely to have their genitals mutilated against their consent and infant male genital mutilation is culturally accepted. Men have historically been sent to go die in wars, often against their wills (example: world war 1) and some developed countries, like the USA, have a male-only draft. Boys are performing worse in schools and women make up over 60% of university students. Men are disadvantaged when it comes to child custody. Male rape victims aren't taken as seriously as female rape victims. The US government refuses to even recognize forced penetration as rape. Etc. I could go on but I suggest you go to one of the men's rights threads.
  6. Really? We have magic powers? I had no idea. Guess I need to go to Hogwarts to learn how to do magic. And non-whites enjoy advantages that whites do not experience. For example, advantage when it comes to job applications, more university scholarships, and not being harassed about your 'white privilege'. Not to mention the worst academic performance after controlling for poverty (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/34667100/poor-white-boys-get-a-worse-start-in-life-says-equality-report) because the school systems are convinced that all these poor white people are privileged, so do not need help. Really? I keep getting told that white males are the cause of all the problems of the world. Yes, that's why there are all these moves to curtail freedom of speech in Canada. From human rights tribunals trying to ban publishing cartoons of Mohamed, to anti-free speech 'microaggression' policy, to men's rights groups being silenced on universities, to Gregory Elliot being put on trial for disagreeing with feminists and not wanting to take part in their cyberbulling campaign. Yeah, which is stupid. You can't tell someone's level of privilege just by looking at someone's race and sex. But the 'progressive' SJWs want an excuse to be sexist racists that can judge people based upon appearance.
  7. Yes, cause women can't be terrorists, nor raise their children to become terrorists. *sarcasm* I would rather we restrict against sunni muslims rather than against single men. Religious minorities are far less likely to commit terrorism and are in greater need of help. Edit: also, young single men are more likely to be less of a burden on society and a greater share of single men means that the group will have a lower birth rate.
  8. We obtain more diversity. And diversity is strength, didn't you know? It helps use feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We have the advantage of sunny ways and Justin Trudeau's super awesome screening process.
  9. Mohamed the Prophet. And actually the Caliph was supposed to be the authority after Mohamed. There is some flexibility of interpretation in Islam and other religions, but there is not infinite flexibility of interpretation. If you don't believe in Allah and you don't believe that Mohamed is the last and final prophet of Allah then you are not muslim, period.
  10. Because meaning depends on context.
  11. I reject your definitions. What is left or right often depends on context, and people will often change definitions to whatever is convenient for them at any given time. In many cases, the usage of words such as 'liberal' or 'progressive' is Orwellian. Edit: Example: in Sweden it is the 'evil far-right nazi party' that supports gay pride parades, even in muslim areas.
  12. Why? Because you say so? They are absolutely religious. If you believe in a magical afterlife, then killing yourself isn't such a bad prospect.
  13. $30 per metric ton is what BC has. I think $30 is likely a bit above the optimal level of taxation, but it isn't orders of magnitude off. A tax on CO2 emissions is the most economically efficient way to reduce emissions. Not canceling pipelines or implementing cap and trade policies.
  14. Why are you using male pronouns here? Seems like a microaggression against men and a denial of female agency.
  15. They are both. Some Muslims will also tell me that Mohamed ascended to heaven on a flying horse. That doesn't make it true. Also, some non-extremist muslims think that ISIS are muslim, such as Tarek Fatah. ISIS are muslim. They believe in the shahada. It's that simple. Yet religious apologists like you keep trying to label all these extremists as non-religious, which puts blame on non-religious people and doesn't help deal with the issue of the creation of religious extremists.
  16. I created a thread to discuss the issue. At least you are honest that you only opposite it due to conditioning. That is understandable.
  17. Fred Phelps is Christian. He believes in God and the holy trinity. And belief in the Shahada is the basis for being muslim. That's why ISIS and Saudi Arabia have it on their flags.
  18. Okay, well why do you wish to remain old-fashioned? Also, you realize that as the wait times for female washrooms are generally higher than the wait times for male washrooms, non-gender segregated washrooms would disproportionately benefit women, right?
  19. Why does it matter if a men hears you instead of a woman?
  20. So, you would be okay with Caitlyn Jenner in the same bathroom as you but not Bruce Jenner?
  21. Why? Could you provide a reason?
  22. I had a graduate course in economics last year where the professor invited a guest speaker to spend an entire lecture going on about Islamic banking and how society should adopt Sharia. To be fair, a lot of people misunderstand Sharia. Sharia just means the laws humans should follow according to Allah. This is something that is very much open to interpretation.
  23. The members of ISIS believe that there are no gods but Allah and Mohamed is the last and final prophet of Allah. That makes them muslim. Not only that, they follow all of the pillars of Islam, from praying 5 times a day, to paying zakat, to fasting on Ramadan, to performing the Hajj. Why are all the religious apologists trying to group these radicals with non-religious people? It's not non-religious people flying planes into buildings or trying to blow up soccer stadiums.
  24. You are generalizing. I usually feel like I do not have control. And the many men that commit suicide often feel they have no control before they commit suicide.
  25. Yes, because universities are infected by this social justice religion. The existence of Allah is also recorded and published by millions of people all over the world by professors from world class institutions. I guess that means Allah exists. *sarcasm* Such a belief is unfalsifiable. If people don't disagree with the existence of white privilege, then that suggests it must exist. But if people do disagree with the existence of white privilege, then that suggests they are just angry, so it must exist. That doesn't make sense. "The concept of white privilege also implies the right to assume the universality of one's own experiences" This is the part where the whole privilege hierarchy of the social justice warriors starts to get ridiculous. People are different and have very different experiences. Trying to project your experiences onto everyone else doesn't make sense. I'm white and my mother is a schizophrenic person who poisoned me. Well I guess that must mean all white people have schitzophrenic crazy parents cause of universality! I'm white and I was assaulted and suffered a concussion. Well I guess that must mean all white people will get assaulted and suffer concussions in their life times! I'm white and my family has a history of eating very spicy food. Well I guess that must mean all white people eat very spicy food! Etc. It's dumb.
