Greenhouse effect is a myth, scientists say
B. Max replied to buffycat's topic in The Rest of the World
That's precisely the kind of argument isn't going to go down well. There is no more indication of temperatures being stable in the last 6 years than at any other point in the last 30 years of temperature rise: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.A2_lrg.gif Nor should a 6 year stable period imply anything even if it did exist in the last 6 years, given that the periods 1990-1996 and 1981-1987 were relatively stable. There has been no rise in the average temperature since 1998. http://www.junkscience.com/MSU_Temps/NCDCanomLand.html -
Venezuela nationalizes oil industry.
B. Max replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in The Rest of the World
Chavez is stealing the assets that the oil companies built by investing in the country so they would have an oil industry in the first place. Now he's hoping the oil companies will hang around and pay all the bills for maintaining the infrastructure. The share holders won't put up with that. -

I think that part of the right of free speech is the right to hear free speech to make an informed decision. Lets hope that the judge who hears this case sees it the same way. http://www.thestar.com/Business/article/208639

It makes no sense at all unless you are trying to suppress something and call consensus science, for if it were Louis Pasteur would still be wrong. -

I think we can close the book on this guy and write him off as just another democrat who has a problem with the truth. http://powerlineblog.com/archives/017477.php

name='cybercoma' date='Apr 29 2007, 11:33 PM' post='213940'] Some things to consider. Wrong, it never raised temperatures in the past, why would it now. It is a minor player as a green house gas and should not even be considered as a green house gas. There is no evidence to suggest that. We are not

That's hardly a "hair split". In fact, it's the very heart of the Kyoto issue. If we're dealing with natural cycles, then taking actions that hamper economic activity are futile, a waste of time, and an imposition on poor and middle class people who cannot afford to buy "carbon offsets" (link). A fool and his money is easily parted.

I don't think the UN has issued them any new marching orders as of late. On another note. My attempt to warming things up around here today as mentioned above has failed. The temperature dropped by 4 degrees.

Clinton was impeached for lying to a grand jury and obstruction of justice. However being impeached does no remove one from office if the senate fails to convict.

It's a little cold outside here today so I turned on a few lights to crank up the coal fired power plant so it would put out some more CO2 and raise the temperature.

Its morally wrong for upping the gas prices!
B. Max replied to Topaz's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
That's not true at all. Refinery costs are highly variable, when a refinery goes out of service, for example (they often do, fire, maintenance), costs increase at all other refiners due to supply and demand. When a supplier refines their own gas, the transferable cost increases due to the ability to sell refining capacity to others for a higher price. If I have a million barrels to be processed into gasoline, people are going to charge more when there is less refining capacity. In fact, over the last year, I'd gladly wager that refining and marketing costs are much more highly variable than crude. Maintenance costs from shut downs are factored in because they are a regular constant. The crude costs are a variable. A refinery knows what there costs are and what there margin is from their books, and the fact remains taxes in the end are about half the cost of a liter. -

That's because the anti americans in this country are pro communist one worlders. -

B. Max replied to Topaz's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
It's from 2005 and the only thing that really changes is crude cost. If it weren't for the government tax grab the price for a liter would be about half of what it is. -
Because the man made global warming is a scam.

So what? The cost still exists. Yes the cost exists and must be a factor. Most stations are within 500 miles of their refineries so you are only looking at about 1/2 a cent a liter for 500 miles. -

Yeah but the cost is small when spread over the number of liters on a load. -

I've never heard it before. So I have no idea who said it.

No that was God who said that before there were Christians.

No, meaning to be a slave in some other new world order tyranny were wrongs become rights.

I'm not arguing that there are not similarities, but here they seem to serve the purpose of blurring the debate, but those similarities do not make a republic a democracy. There are two main differences between the two and they are obvious, and others that are not so obvious. For instance. Neither the US constitution or it's amendments, the first ten, confer or grand rights to anyone, or give the government the power to do so. Are you with so far, or would you like to challenge that.
