  1. This is the most sensible comment on this page.
  2. Brink of extinction??? I'm not sure where you live, but it can't be in Northern Ontario. More flying squirrels here than you can shake a stick at.
  3. I have two problems with this; Who decides which crimes "deserve" the death sentence??? And, since you obviously consider drug trafficking to be among those "deserving" "crimes", then which drugs are worthy of capital punishment??? Coke??? Meth??? Pot??? Alcohol??? Tobacco??? Hell, let's just head on up to Capital Hill and lynch the entire government!!! Sorry, HB, your measures are more than a bit too draconian for my tastes But, if you REALLY believe in this type of law and law enforcement, I understand Turkey is opening its borders to immigration As for "The War On Drugs", well, I believe that America and Americans have a deep attachment to the word "WAR". Everything is a "war". The "war" on poverty. The "war" on terrorism. The "war" on iiliteracy. (On rereading, I noticed the spelling error. Left it alone. Not sure if it's for the sake of irony, or just an excuse for a bad pun, but it's certainly in the right sentence) South of our border, if you want to get people's attention, and get them focussed on a goal, you gotta get that "W" word in there somewhere.
  4. "Iraq is an imminent threat." "The war in Iraq is over." "I didn't inhale." "We will scrap the GST." "Saddam has weapons of mass-destruction." You're right. They're everywhere.
  5. BIBLIO: Perhaps you have "Net Nanny" or something similar that's preventing you from accessing the site. KRUSTY: No problem. I'm glad you found and fixed the problem. T-BAG: I'm glad you had a good laugh. That's what the post was for. BTW, if you look at where France is located on the map they were using, it seems they did indeed succeed in their bid for separation. The other side of the world is about as separated as you can get. I particularly liked the terrorist who was upset about the subtitles. Nothing like good British comedy.
  6. No prob. Glad you had a good laugh. FYI, I've NEVER had a pop-up at that site. You might want to scan your compuuter.
  7. Okay, before anyone gets too upset about this post or thread, it's meant largely in fun. Sometimes we just need to lighten up a bit. The one thing I do find a bit alarming is the lack of knowledge when it comes to geography. I mean who thinks Australia is France??? Or North Korea??? I don't care what the name on the map says, Aussieland stands alone in the middle of the sea, how could it be mistaken for anything else??? But then again, how necessary is knowledge of the world map when you're a NYC cabbie??? Here's someone having some fun exploiting just that...... http://www.compfused.com/directlink/940/ So I found this site that has tons of videos on just about every topic you can name. Mostly just silliness, but they have some really funny stuff on Bush. Here's a few examples.... http://www.compfused.com/directlink/282/ http://www.compfused.com/directlink/421/ http://www.compfused.com/directlink/394/ http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1109/ And just to balance the scales a wee bit for those who hate seeing Bush poked at in any way, here's a clip from some British show having a laugh at the expense of the Iraqi insurgents.... http://www.compfused.com/directlink/340/ And finally, to balance a touch more, some footage of rock-throwing Iraqi kids who get there come-uppance. The cameraman is a bit of a sicko. For the record, I think the spanking these guys were given should have been administered out in the open in front of their freinds. Also, I think the kick in the nuts by one of the troops was a bit much. Psychologically, I think a good spanking, on the ass, in front of their peers would be far more effective. But hey, I wasn't there, and it wasn't my call to make. http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1213/ So, again, this was just a bit of a "lighten up" post. Hopefully everyone finds at least one video here that they like. I'm sure everyone will hate at least one. Enjoy. EDITED TO ADD: Hmm. I just realized I spelt "geography" incorrectly in the thread title. It was a typo!!! Honest!!! I really DO know how to spell it!!! And I also know where France is!!! Really!!!
  8. Well, maybe Bush is leaving his options open. If our border security can be painted to be such a huge issue, then Canada could be made out to be an "imminent threat". Maybe we're next
  9. I only just started looking at this post today, and got this far before wanting to comment. That's hardly going to change someone's opinion. Doesn't matter how much fuel there is, it still burns at the same temperature. It's unlikely, if not impossible, that ANY hydrocarbon there could burn hot enough to cause collapse. Wood burns at comparatively low temperatures, in the order of 500 degrees F. However, if you make a big enough fire using wood, you will get FAR higher temperatures. Consider the Dresden firestorm in WWII as an example. Consider also that for centuries blacksmiths used wood as a source of fuel for their forges, which were certainly hot enough to melt steel. Then why do the holes go through 9 feet? You saw when the planes hit WTC. The plane didn't fly out the other side. How would it go through Pentagon's STEEL-REINFORCED CONCRETE? I don't think the entire fuselage penetrated the Pentagon's wall, whereas in the case of the towers, the plane completely penetrated the buildings. As to why the didn't come out the other side, I'm not a physicist qualified to say, and I strongly doubt that you are either. However, with the number of verticle steel supports within the towers, it is likely that the plane would be torn to fragments as it started passing through the tower, and its inertia would be abated before passing completely through the building. Admittedly, this is speculation on my part, based on some small scientific knowledge. I don't claim to be an authority. Ask any law-enforcement professional how truly reliable the average eyewitness report is, and that may give you an answer to this particular question. Considering that most of the eyewitnesses may have had all of 1 or 2 seconds to mentally record what they saw, it is no wonder there is a wild range of variables in the reports. If it makes you feel any better, I personally believe that Bush et al knew fully well the attack was coming, and when it was to occur, although they may not have known the specifics of where or how. The simple fact that all high-ranking officials were told NOT to fly on 9/11 is in itself a glaringly obvious giveaway, IMHO. As for the rest, well, too much of it can be explained away too easily.
  10. MA: That's an ugly story that I've heard a few times from other areas. Shameful behaviour, in my opinion.
  11. Hmmm. I'm beginning to see a trend here. Stashing. In light of the "Flying Squirrel" thread, and now this "Stashing" thread, there's a definite rodent-related theme beginning to develop.
  12. Perhaps it's time he emulates the subjects of this study. It would be easy to do. He could simply go take a flying f***.
  13. There used to be a couple cameras on building-tops in downtown Sudbury (my home). Over the course of a few years, they were directly responsible for several arrests for offenses ranging from assault and battery to prostitution to mugging. The cameras were outdoors, on public property (or at least recording the action on public property). They did not catch any images which could not be seen by any passer-by. They were removed for financial reasons a couple years ago. Too bad, really. They had become an effective deterrent, and a good tool for the police, and far less expensive than having a couple cops permanently assigned to walking a beat in the area.
  14. Many who have received PM's from me know my first name. I would have no problem posting under my real name, first and last, but I would take care in one respect; my postings regarding marijuana. Other than that, have at 'em.
  15. We've been "dealing with" the problem for nigh on seven decades now. Doesn't seem to have worked so well. Perhaps it's time we tried "dealing with" it in another way. And then again, perhaps it isn't a problem at all, except that we've made it into one.
  16. Canadian border security is responsible for controlling what crosses the border INTO Canada The USA border security is responsible for controlling what crosses INTO the USA. This little "test" simply shows that the USA's security is no better than that of Canada or Mexico. Before they point any fingers about border security, they should be looking in a mirror.
  17. MONTY: Thank you very much. Very sporting and gentlemanly of you to make such a retraction. To paraphrase the old saw, it takes a big man to admit his errors. Although we often disagree, it's nice to see you are cut from such fine cloth.
  18. I only support unorganized crime in my pot use. The crime is the small grow room in my basement, which houses about 5 or 6 plants at any given time. The unorganized aspect is simply my life in general What I grow is never sold. It is for my personal use, and that of my ex-wife, who is a manic depressive and smokes for therapeutic reasons. Her doctor agrees with this usage.
  19. MONTY: You're right, I did forget about that thread. But the word you used was "outrage". I still don't see anywhere that I displayed outrage. Yes, I did say that (former PM)PM's comments were political expediency. They were made during his election campaign in an attempt, however misguided, to shore up his numbers. But when Harper criticized Wilkin's comments, you seemed to think it was okay for Harper to be politically expedient. In fact, your exact words were...... Evidently, by your reply, you thought that Harper was wrong to say this, but that he "has to" so he wouldn't get labelled by the press. IOW, he made a comment that was politically expedient, as was Martin, however wrong either of these guys may have been. So, yes, I called it "politics". But that is not the point here. You said that I, and people like me, displayed "outrage" I'm calling you on that. Show me where I displayed outrage, or retract your comment. I'll be waiting.
  20. While I can sympathize with Sheehan on the loss of her son, it seems obvious that she went off the deep end quite some time ago. OTOH, if her son had come home alive and well, and touting a few medals for valour or some such, I wonder if she'd still be as bitter about this war. BTW, MONTY BURNS: still waiting for a reply over here....... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.p...ndpost&p=104408
  21. And your point is???
  22. MONTY BURNS: still waiting for a reply here, chum.
  23. But isn't he the guy that "shoots" prematurely??? Think back to his hunting accident when he fired a round into his friend. Or maybe he just prefers "shooting" at guys Might be time for Dick to come out of the closet
  24. I particularly liked this remark.... ....especially in light of the growing deficit America is facing. If nothing else in the article rings true, at the very least this line fits GWB like a glove
