  1. You, my dear are the one with blinders on. I prefer our civil Canadian attitude over the American way of torturing helpless prisoners. I remember how Bush whined and cried when picture of Americans were shown; he wanted his Geneva convention rights then. You get back what you hand out. Treat others fairly; if you want to be treated with respect.
  2. Not really; everything goes up in price and no one is any further ahead. It must be done to keep cheapskate employers from paying unfair wages as prices go up but it does not work as a real incentive to make some people look for work.
  3. Sticks and stones can break my bones.... better that than a bunch of hot dog bullies. America has nothing to be proud of in its war record with all the friendly fire incidents. There are things much more important than summer sports; there is hockey. Too rough for you sissy Americans; so I hear. hehe
  4. Grow up Niagra. Think before you speak. You have little understanding of common sense. It is people like you that let tyrants like Bush bring mayhem to the world. Saddam was a mouthy jerk but it is Bush who is dangerous to world peace.
  5. Did they even make a little fuss after the Prime Minister of Pakistan pardoned the scientists and let them keep their ill gotten gains. In fact, shortly after, they made Pakistan a preferred ally; allowed to purchase new weaponry from the USA.
  6. Who thought????? The information that the USA/Britain used was proven to be fraudulent, forgeries, old and plagiarized and plain irrelevant BEFORE the invasion of Iraq. It was NOT a war. A war takes two sides. If they were not lying they were very incompetent. What happened to justice Innocent until proven guilty. There were no ties between Saddam/Iraq and the terrorists that attacked the world trade center.
  7. ???????? what. I guess that you forgot that Canada is bilingual and that French is quite influential here in North America and that Mexico is very influenced by Spanish???
  8. Yes, who landed all the airplanes and put the people up and fed them when none were allowed to land in the USA. Canadians sents mega millions of dollars to New York to help with the recovery. Thanks a lot. Canada joined in the war on terrorism. We were and many still are in Afghanistan. The invasion of Iraq has NOTHING to do with the war on terrorism. In fact, that was a side trip AWAY from the real villians. Remember Osama?????? America's new buddy, Pakistan condoned (as did the USA) Pakisatani scientist selling nuclear technologies and parts to the unstable nations unfriendly to the USA!!!!!!! but that is okay eh???
  9. Sorry buddy but look at your own government and its actions. Why is America the most hated nation now. They used to be very much respected. Trade agreements seem to be ignored and/or abuse by your government and lobby groups. Your governments claim to want to bring democracy to other countries (whether they want it or not) but refuses to act democratically at the international stage. (invading Iraq when the majority said NO) I could go on. I too have many friend that are American. I will lose much more respect for Americans if they re-elect that despot Bush.
  10. I think Kimmy is right. We just had a recall of ground beef about a month ago from a Calgary meat supplier to Super Store.
  11. I think most Canadians do respect ourselves and our country"a independent stand to stay out of Iraq. We have been proven to have been correct. It is America that illegally invaded a country that was disarming, that held prisoners without giving them their Geneva convention rights; that has tortured these same prisoners. I think it is Americans that should be unable to have any respect for their country's actions and many are.
  12. And just how are the Americans protecting us and from whom. I think they are bringing more threat TO North American.
  13. No you are wrong again. The threat is as big if not bigger than before; not just my opinion but that is the opinion of many experts. try again.
  14. Only their leaders; not the people mostly they are afraid of losing American trade.
  15. bad example; last ones to join and only after they were attacked.
  16. Do you have an real examples where the USA has been right. Where they have treated any one prisoners or friends fairly. Where they have succeeded in reducing the threat of terrorism instead of just aggravating the situation??????
  17. Well said Daniel. I admire Castro much more than someone like Bush. He may be a "dictator" but I will take a benevolent dictator over a egomaniac like Bush any day.
  18. Yep, I think he had a point.
  19. It is not a remote possibility. It is a serious concern
  20. They are not supplying it the doctors are quite capable of doing that themselves. They just pay for it and have a bunch of patronage appointees taking over pay for little knowledge. The provinces are losing the right to those rights by messing it up. We have been paying more premiums and getting less service and as a senior we are paying an extra 1100 dollars for prescriptions. If you need to work you have to pay the private clinics for your already paid for health care.
  21. Nope; I am all for a stronger central government. Some provincial governments like in BC are unstable and we do the yo yo every election. It has become a bargaining ploy for the Provincial government to sqeeze more money from the feds. There is no incentive to have it running smoothly and efficiently if they lose their bargaining ploy. Why do you think the premiers wanted no strings attached. If we stop this wrangling between levels of government; perhaps they will get down to the business of organizing healthcare so that it will run smoothly and efficiently. Quit wasting time fighting over money.
  22. Thanks, Eureka but I think we are very civillized out here in BC.
  23. It is the bureaucratic bs patronage jobs that bother me. More jobs overpaid for their political appointees. Appointed for their party loyalty rather than their expertise. The doctors wherever can deal with that not provincial politicians!!!! I am sure that the specialists will go where they are most needed.
  24. And just what do you call the Israel government when it attacks Palestinian civillians or as the American refer to as "collateral damage" Because the Israelis do it with sophisticated weaponry from a safe distance; does that make them less terroristic? I ended that quote at a strange spot. See what happens when snippets are taken out of context. the Arabs have never blown up anyone on the cbc forums.
  25. I think teachers have a difficult job. We have now thrown special needs children into public schooling rather than keeping them in segragated schools where their needs can be better met without disrupting regular students. I think it is a disservice for all the kids. ESL students make up a large segment of the schools now and can slow down effective learning. I think kids that can learn easier should be in classes with others with the same learning abilities. School is very boring for students that learn quickly; you just keep hearing the same things over and over till you just tune it all out. We need to keep these students interested in learning by giving the challenges that interest them.
