In terms of religion I also have a major problem with Islamic people coming to Canada on the very most simple grounds that atheists like myself Kafirs are supposed to either be turned into slaves or have our heads chopped off in traditional Islam. There was no non sequitur. It is obvious, but if you really do need it explained fine. Humans no matter where they are take massive amounts of resources, especially in industrialized countries, which is pretty much everywhere now. So if you have immigrants/refugees from cultures where they have very large family sizes e.g. in Islam, then the population will increase, this will take further demands on resources to sustain them. More mining, more farming, more forestry, more resource extraction, more oil, more fracking, (which in turn requires massive amounts of resources and water), more energy etc. A perfect example is not only all the proposed pipelines across various parts of Canada and the tar sands, but the proposed Site C Damn, which will flood a massive valley causing massive environmental damage/disruption. If it weren't for high population there would not be the energy demands calling for a new dam.

I don't need to explain the link between humans and natural habitat loss to an adult. Maybe a kindergartner.

Exactly it's the zero sum principle. Let's benefit the first nations and other Canadians and not overwhelm them with even further outside populations. If people suffer, because they won't lower their birth rates and hold onto insane beliefs, that is their fault.

You've got to be kidding. Iraq's population is actually sky rocketing despite all this. If their life is such a hell hole, they should stop reproducing and drop their insane religion which tells them to be fruitful and multiply. Many of these Sunni refugees are the same people that waged genocide against the Kurds, Yazidis, the Marsh Arabs, the Shiites, the Mandaeans, Christians and countless others.

I don't know, but the protestor may have seemed to be a possibly violent threat. So there may have been some sort of justification. That said, I think it likely also that Vickers might be affected by a sort of PTSD, with recent events and with his training, his immediate reaction likely kicked in to defend. So really I think Vickers should be let off the hook, and just warned in the future that his role of ambassador is not the same as Sergeant of arms. That said had the protestor actually been violent, as Vickers seems to have perceived Vickers may have saved the day a second time and this discussion would be quite different. So I suggest offer the benefit of the doubt and move on.

Well I'm not just referring to the 25,000 Syrian refugees (per year slated now), but to the other 275,000 immigrants, but let's say even with 25,000 Syrian refugees. Middle Eastern families often have massive family sizes like 10 children per family. Also they will try to bring in their extended families and likely succeed to some extent. Some Middle Eastern families literally have 30,000 members. So let's say 10 children per family (and you probably noticed in the news reports often the refugees have big families. Multiply that by 10 by 10 and by 10 3 generations and already just from that 25,000 alone from one year you have about 2.5% of the entire Canadian population another generation and that jumps to 25% etc. Canada is beautiful precisely because of its vast open spaces that are uninhabited, but even despite that we are devastating the environment right now and it is only getting worse.
