if Trudeau is elected leader say goodbye to any seats out west aside from a few in BC they may even lose those to the NDP. That leaves Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces. Quebec is a wash so forget that idea, they haven't yet forgotten Ad scam. So that leaves Ontario and the maritime provinces to get a majority. I don't think that's enough seats available.

The difference is that the majority of Christians in the US or Canada for that matter are taking it literally in comparison to Muslims. When 58% of Christians are taking the Bible literally I'll stand with you in outrage as a Christian myself.

Topaz it's truly sad how some people abuse their bodies. I'm on the fence on things like this. One one hand yes, these people need help and are deserving of charity, no doubt about it. Not helping them is not an option to me. They must be helped. But on the other hand this damage that has been done to their bodies has been done to themselves by themselves and their lack of self control. This is the result of that. if they had chosen not to drink or use or whatever then this would not have happened.

No I don't think so I was treated lax. I never got away with anything. I always freely admitted when I was caught. It's hard to say I didn't do it when I'm on top of a guy outside a bar beating the crap out of him. I never did any real hard time in a penitentiary. Always in provincial jails. Most I did was about 5-6 months once and 120 days another time. My crimes were always spur of the moment assaults. I'd be drunk, some guy would mouth off and I'd just start smashing him, without warning. I've always held somewhat right wing views since my parents had always voted PC so around the dinner table that was the slant of the conversation. I'm sure it helped shape me. I never felt that PC party was severe enough. Reform party was perfect. Now we have the PC party by another name, it's pathetic.

I think that often time that it's not clear whether a right or wrong exists perhaps one does not exist. I am a right wing supporter so I take a right wing stance on most things. Some things I stand with the left namely, social justice and treatment of the poor. I take an extreme stance on this forum because it makes it easier to argue with someone who is one extreme or the other. It's hard to have a good argument with some one who is constantly on the fence, wishy washy or gray area. In real life I am obviously a conservative but much more tame and moderate on many issues. I am sure if I took the fluffy bunny approach to everything it would be better and not make as many waves to be sure but I really and truly don't see the benefit of sticking my head in the sand and pretending that serious issues don't exist.

I like this topic jacee. Definitely worth a post for sure and I'm glad you shared it. I'm not a lawyer so I will give only a layman's interpretation. I don't believe that the person is committing welfare fraud by receiving benefits in his/her current situation as the assets are not in that persons control. If this family has control over his estate and all his affairs like a power of attorney then they are definitely in breach of that contract. I am almost positive that this person should contact a family lawyer immediately and sue his family. It will take a few years but will most certainly result in a positive outcome. If going to legal route be sure to take great care in choosing the lawyer, get a reputable one. Many good lawyers will take a certain number of legal Aid cases a year after hearing this story they may take it. if a settlement is reached, because this person has substance issues, it can always be placed in a structured settlement where a certain amount of money is released each month. This money is released to the person named and to no other. Or it can released to a trustee who would see that the persons rent is paid, food is bought etc then the remainder is given to that person. If this person is on ODSP a structured settlement isn't considered income so it will effect their benefits. I hope this has helped. It's infuriating for me to read things like this. People in need deserve dignity and respect and this person is getting neither.

PM Harper is a talented statesman who is adored the word over for his diplomacy. He recently won the award for statesman of the year! We have a man who will be missed once he is gone from power. He will go down in history as one of our greatest PM's ever.

Appreciated for not attacking me personally as usual. Now italy runs the best trash burning system in the world. One that we need to copy right away. They burn garbage and turn it into hydro power! This is awesome news. We can now burn our trash and turn it into electricity! We need to do this right away. With all the gas and coal power plants being shut down we need to replace that power somehow and windmills ain't gonna cut it sister!
