WEF isn't even a new idea. It's a repackaged "New World Order" for the modern post-boomer conspiracy nut, with 5G, mind-control chips, Climate Activism and Woke Mob taking over for the Illuminati and Freemasons. @Infidel Dog The speaker shut that conversation down because it's make-believe, akin to Putin's rambling nonsense about drug-addicted Nazi's running Ukraine. It's far-fetched silliness and Parliament doesn't sit to humor that sort of foolishness. The fact that nobody was interested in talking about it, of course, is PrOoF.

You don't care but you then proceed to post a 10-point thesis on why you think I'm wrong. Okay. ? Your "evidence" and the logic behind it is poor. Even when you do bring up something that's legitimately concerning, the conclusions that you draw from it are far-fetched conjecture. Most of it is silly from start to finish. Take this for example: Where Klaus Schwab explains he's proud that folk who passed through the WEF's Young Global Leaders program make up portions of the Canadian Cabinet, but uses the word "penetrate". For that to be even remotely concerning you have to do all sorts of mental gymnastics including but not limited to: 1) Assume nefarious meaning to a single word chosen by someone who doesn't speak English natively 2) Assume that the WEF is a nefarious cabal of puppet masters controlling global leaders 3) Believe that Klaus is the master reigning over all of it 4) Convince yourself that, if all of the above are true, Klaus would be bragging about it openly on public forums.

Why have you posted SEVEN times here in a row, responding only to yourself?

Don't really know this is all about tbh, or how it relates to this. Norway had much clearer vision with energy back when their oil boom started in the early 70's. By contrast, Pierre Trudeau's NEP (along with all his other economic policies) was an unmitigated disaster.
-
but it isn't really, not unless you are worried that US suppliers will cut us of from refined products. I think it's a damn shame that Pierre Trudeau so horribly botched Canada's energy strategy decades ago, and how nobody did much meaningful about it since, but that train left a long time ago. The dream of Canada building refineries in Alberta, Ontario or BC or whatever is certainly appealing, but it's not that simple. You can't just sort of "build the refinery". To compete with importing from the US would require massive economies of scale, enormous infrastructure investments (refinery processes, terminals, pipelines) and would likely take decades to recoup the capital outlay. All of this would be happening in an environment where economies are trying to move away from oil and when Canadian oil is already expensive to harvest in the first place. If we assume that oil demand and reliance declines over the next 20-30 (EVs, renewable energy etc), then this is a losing bet that nobody would want to make.

Yes. It does sound crazy. I stopped reading after this sentence because the WEF and Klaus Schwab continue the fine tradition of conspiracy bogeymanning. Whether it's the Jews, the Illuminati, George Soros, Satanic Pedophile Cults or now this, there's always something to serve as the foundation for fantastical conspiracy theories. You've probably noticed that when you try to explain this stuff to the average person, they either throw it back in your face as nonsense or awkwardly look away and try not to engage. If you're already prone to swallowing this sort of bunk, however, then you just sort of accept it all. Klaus Schwab mentioned that Trudeau and Freeland went through the WEF's young global leader program, so that's "proof" that the WEF controls Canada, and if we assume that China controls the WEF then that means China controls Canada. Wow. The gaping chasms of logic you leapt to come up with any of those ideas are actually worrying, and I don't say that just to troll. I say that because it's hard to find common ground to debate when the basis for your worldviews is stuff like that.

What are the options to remove Justin Trudeau?
Moonbox replied to TrudeauSucks's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You may be aware of it, but if you're still talking about hyperinflation and/or the government "printing money" as proof, then you don't really understand it. That's fine, because very few people do and that's why we come up with simple and trivial explanations for it. I suspect much of your grievances against central banks has more to do with public/fiscal policy than anything. Distinguishing between central banking action and government policy is not always easy. -
Canada's military, how impressive it really is.
Moonbox replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
21st in the world for what? Spending? Canada has little/no force projection capabilities and has to rely on allies for logistics and often transport. We've virtually no independent operational capability and (I would imagine) wouldn't be even be capable of defending our own soil if anyone ever invaded. Canada not spending its military dollars wisely is one of the oldest stories I know. From what I understand, the soldiers themselves are well trained and motivated, and we have some fairly good equipment in different places, but the whole apparatus seems to be built on the assumption that the Americans will and our other allies will look after a lot of the...details for us. -
Your projecting again. Scream into your pillow some more.

Monetization isn't really the word your looking for, and "just printing money" isn't how it works. You don't know anything about this, nor do most people, so that's okay. Here's the problem with that system: If you have a pegged dollar (say the gold standard) and gold mining can't keep up with economic growth, you end up with a currency that's worth more and more each year and then people hoard it instead of spending it, which grinds the economy down. There's a reason nobody really does this anymore. -
Probably true but like I said, building refinery complexes to scale, along with all the infrastructure to go along with it, is not an initial investment you recover in 5-10 years. By the time they even broke even on the project, there probably wouldn't be enough oil demand anymore to run a worthy profit.
-
Alberta refining its own oil is coming like 30 years too late. By the time they recovered the massive initial capital outlays for constructing all the infrastructure for it, we'll have moved on from oil as a primary source of energy.
-
What are you even talking about? What other source am I not defending? I don't need to read the book because the title tells us what we need to know. I'm not going to read it for the same reason I'm not going to read Mein Kampf or Snooki's memoirs.

I think it was fair to criticize him for his divisive rhetoric, but hate speech always was and still is a reach. By your definition of hate speech, you and the trucker protest is also guilty. ?
-
I've been talking about it for over a week. Leave it to you to find cause for confrontation even when I'm agreeing with you though ?
-
I do have to agree with this. Biden and Trudeau have egg on their face now and look pretty stupid watching oil prices skyrocket domestically around the world while there's a safe and reliable source sitting at home. Trudeau proved himself his father's son in killing Northern Gateway and will ensure Alberta and most of the prairies remain a wasteland for the Liberals for decades. The democrats will get skewered in the mid-terms as gasoline prices continue to skyrocket over supply concerns like Ukraine. Alberta oil producers are sitting here like...
-
I imagine this must be pretty jarring for you. How could a labeled communist/far-left/totalitarian/woke/prog/whatever like Moonbox actually condemn Trudeau for something? It's almost like...I actually consider the issues at hand for what they are rather than screaming all-or-nothing ideology at people.

No offense intended, but your portrayal of the money supply and how it affects the economy is simplistic and lacking. Your argument here is not uncommon, but it's misguided. How much money the government "prints" (which itself is an oversimplified concept) is only one part and arguably not even the most important part of the money supply equation. You have to look at other aggregated measurements (M1, M2 and M3 etc)- most importantly how quickly money circulates through the economy. Each dollar doesn't only get spent once, so the money supply is not just the sum of all the $'s in circulation, but also the product of how many times it gets spent and re-spent each year. Interest rates, lending practices, capital requirements and a whole host of other factors affect this, and the central banks exert a lot of control over it. As far as luxury goods go, the supply chain bottlenecks with computer components and semi-conductors are well-documented and such things account for a lot of the cost pressure. Demand and manufacturing fell through the floor through 2020 and into 2021, and the supply chain is far less flexible than consumer demand. If you shut your plant down or reduced production for a year, you know you can't just snap your fingers and go back to full capacity immediately, and even if you could, that doesn't mean all your suppliers can. Some of them might be out of business altogether, or may have shifted their production to other markets. To be clear, these supply chain problems do represent inflationary pressure on the economy, but they are transitory in nature and need to be distinguished from other factors like the expanded money supply. Western economies no doubt face challenges, and inflation is one of them. Hyper-inflation, on the other hand, is bogeyman and won't play out. It'll be 5+ years before we see the true impact of COVID-19 quantitative easing so I won't be able to say "I told you so" until then, but your doomsaying is misguided. As far as meat goes, sure. I've noticed it's more expensive. I know better than to say it's because of monetary policy, however, considering 2021 was terrible for drought and cattle feed costs skyrocketed as a result. It's unfortunate that maybe I don't buy my prime-rib as often at ~$44/kg or whatever it was last time I cooked it, but I'm hardly blaming the central banks for lower Mid-west rainfall. -
Honestly I agree with most of what she's saying. I started a thread on it even. The Emergencies Act was a huge overreach and Trudeau has proven himself every bit as decisive as his father, who up until now I considered Canada's worst Prime Minister ever.

I prefer a manatee over Lauren Southern for news, and it's hard to be anything but smug and condescending when reviewing her content and sad attempts at journalism and research. Hahaha. Yeah...that's all she said....?

Your "senses" and their "reliability" are at least consistent. Not only am I self-employed and run my own business, but this type of discussion is my trade. This was my education and this is what I've spent the last 15 years researching, discussing and planning around. If anything, I'm oversimplifying, but responses like yours make me wonder if I need to dumb it down way more. What do I drive??? Wow... You drive Lambo bro? ?
