Defeating the Federal Liberals

Well said. ==== Some women do not like guys like Trump/Poilievre. Vibe. -
Seducing Americans: Canadian Style
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
I recall very strongly the speech of Trudeau Snr in your Congress around 1978 or so. Trudeau said, "Many Canadians applaud your baseball players in Montreal -yet most players are American." "And yet you Americans applaud the New York Rangers - yet most players were born in Canada." -
Mulroney did it. Naomi Klein did it. ==== Pierre Trudeau never did it - but his son did.

How do you pay for health care?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Huh? In Quebec, I scheduled next week in a private clinic for an MRI (800Cdn) and a CT scan (500Cdn). In both cases, I was referred from two specialists (public, no cost) after seeing a private doctor (about 200Cdn). I have a "family doctor". Her staff wants me to send faxes. She gave me her email. She is a good woman. ==== Health care is complicated. -
Defeating the Federal Liberals
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dump Pierre Polievre? Milhous? Richard Nixon lost in 1960, then 1962. He was not a quitter. ===== To succeed in federal Canadian politics, a person must agree to get along. -
Defeating the Federal Liberals
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Mulroney, Laurier, Chretien, King, Harper would have played better. Trudeau Snr far better. ==== We Canadians are now stuck with guys like Trudeau Jnr. Or Mark Carney in the 2000s -
Defeating the Federal Liberals

Trump layed the card. Poilievre should have played the nationalist card, strongly: Defend Canada, Quebec. === Carney was the better card player. -
Avi Lewis & Pierre Poilievre must talk -Get Along
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In our federal parliament, the Liberals now have a majority of seats. This guy Carney, and these federal Liberals do not have a majority. -
Mark Carney = Mackenzie King?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
King was born in 1874, the grandson of W. L. Mackenzie. Despite what you read on the Internet, Rockefeller paid for King's education at Harvard. Carney was born in 1965. His family paid for his studies at Harvard and then he worked for Goldman Sachs. Both men are extremely ambitious: I suspect King moreso. -
1. Both were ambitious. 2. Both lacked charm. 3. Both were cutthroat. 4. Both were in thrall to the British crown. ===== Carney is arrogant - smartest guy in the room. King was not like that. Carney speaks decent French. King deferred to a lieutenant. Carney is Catholic, married to a New Zealander. King was probably gay.
-
I agree. ===== But people in various parts of Canada should receive mail, have access to the Internet, speak to federal bureaucrats in French/English.

Defeating the Federal Liberals
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The federal Liberal Party will defeat itself - there will be a public perception of corruption. Carney has already started it. ==== In the past, many Canadians believed that Jean Chretien (like WalMart) was on their side. -
1. Mulroney did it in 1984. 2. Diefenbaker did it in 1957 - then decisively in 1958. 3. Harper did it progressively. === All federal Liberal politicians are corrupt. Carney? His cabinet?

Toronto-Quebec City High-Speed Rail
August1991 replied to 500channelsurfer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Peterborough route? We are not Osaka-Tokyo. WashNyBaWash. It makes no sense to build a Quebec-Windsor train. ====== Like Tesla cars, this is a virtue signal. Unlike Tesla cars, this will never been built. -
April 13 by-election results
August1991 replied to Barquentine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I was surprised about the Terrebonne result. ====== The federal Liberal machine is remarkable: they defeated Poilievre in Nepean. -
Avi Lewis & Pierre Poilievre must talk -Get Along
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Herbie, At present, the federal Liberal Party does not have the majority of the country. Before, the federal Liberals could appeal cross ethnic lines. Under this guy Mark Carney, it cannot. -
https://www.ctvnews.ca/montreal/article/quebec-liberals-lead-pq-in-new-poll-as-caq-remains-distant-third/ The PLQ under Miliard s 32, the PQ is 29. ==== Canadians want to get along.

How do you pay for health care?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Strongly disagree. I am not a Libertarian: Canada is a successful federal State because we have provincial governments. -
How do you pay for health care?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Spanky, you raise good questions. Health care is complicated. It often concerns end of life; indeed life itself. Our current Canadian system of "all-covered" doesn't work. I prefer the the Quebec/European system. ==== Quebec doctors/nurses should be free to work on both sides. -
Who will control the World's Oil?
August1991 replied to Goober National's topic in The Rest of the World
In Christian protestant church pews, there were benchmarks: where to sit. There are two world oil price benchmarks: Brent and WTI. Watch them. -

I strongly agree. Adopt an older cat from the SPCA. MAiD is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
