  1. Tolstoi wrote a novel about this. Jimmy Carter noted it. Mulroney spoke about it. ==== Which soldier won the war?
  2. If you are curious, check any Youtube video about Nasser. He was an Egyptian, an Arab nationalist. He died in 1970. More relevant: the 1956 Suez crisis and Pearson's role.
  3. About 400 years ago, no one understood a limit - a derivative. Nowadays, in 2000, I'd say about 5% of the world's population can take a derivative.
  4. Further thought: My great-grandfather was illiterate. This woman/man of Roman times? Certainly ignorant and superstitious. Yet I can take a derivative. ===== The world does not lack for children. It lacks educated children.
  5. Humans? About 3 generations per 100 years. In the past 2000 years, about 300 generations. Some woman and man were alive in Roman times - I have their genes.
  6. Cruises. I have wondered why so many older, retired people go on cruises. What is life?
  7. Disagree. There are many homeless people in Montreal.
  8. 1. We Canadians struggle with changes in temperature. 2. Our country is large. We travel often. 3. Canada is population dense in some places. But not everywhere. ===== This guy Guilbeault wants to end Canada as we know it. He wants to centralize/urbanise Canada. This Canada of a National Dream?
  9. I happen to think our marginal efforts will change the CO2 emissions. And yes, I question the Maui CO2 measures.
  10. It is not evidence - it is perception. ==== If a judge takes money is one thing. If people think the judge takes money - it is another thing.
  11. This past summer, a foreigner, I travelled by train (Amtrak) from Chicago to Portland, Oregon. I stopped in Montana I talked with many Americans. You Americans are divided. Some of you openly hate Trump. Others shyly like the guy.
  12. Coward? Murderer? IMHO, both have huge egos. ===== This horrific death and destruction must stop. It is changing nothing.
  13. As any foreigner can see, there is ample evidence that your president is a crook: he took money.
  14. Do you really believe that? ===== If we are truly facing a Global Warming, why is Bill Gates flying private? In World War II, Churchill was not afraid to fly. Stalin and Roosevelt were afraid of planes.
  15. In the 1930s, the people who voted for Adolf Hitler and his NSDAP were largely educated people - working people, but educated.
  16. But Reason10, you make a good point. The US is the only civilised country without a federal consumption tax - a VAT. (In Canada, we have the GST.) ===== A federal sales tax is a solution to your problems. It's fair. And hard to avoid.
  17. All things considered, societies are richer if they they think of the future. When people think of the past, they are poor.
  18. You Leftist-Americans refer to this as "what-aboutism". ===== Biden, Trump. Whatever. You Americans deserve better. We in the civilised world want better. We want a multi-polar world - a world of sustainable peace for a century at least.
  19. Do you blame the US for Haiti? I have never been to Haiti but I have spoken to a few Haitians. IMHO, Haiti is a disaster of its own making.
  20. According to the 2nd Amendment, does any American citizen have the right to bear an RPG? An IED? A nuclear weapon? ===== Your framers were smart - but they lived in the 18th century.
  21. Quebec - like Alberta - ensure that Canada is civilised.
  22. It's a true story. Early 1980s. (I swam in the Dead Sea - then threw up. It's warm.) And I crossed the border from Jordan to Israel (the Jordan River was a creek - not a river) with a Greek Orthodox priest. ===== Treebeard, Electrons do not really fly around protons/neutrons. It's a story.
