In the late 1800s, the world was civilised, peaceful. Before 1910. people could travel freely to the new world. In Lemberg, different people lived together. ==== I prefer a multicultural society - a world of several powers.
-
Agreed. === I have walked various war cemeteries.
-
Michael, Like Lévesque, I prefer a different arrangememt. But like Trudeau père, the measure of a society is how willing a majority is to defend a minority. I'm Canadian.
-
Disagree. Unlike Americans, we ordinary Canadians often choose/vote outside.
-
I think that individual Americans can cope with inflation better than we Canadians. Americans can more quickly change. We Canadians are stuck with union negotiations.
-
Between 1913 and 1946, the civilized world changed. Why?
-
WWI decided nothing. In the future, no one will refer to WWI or WWII. Nowadays, we refer to the Thirty Years War
-
As a date, 11 Nov 1918 is the worst. It decided nothing. The Versailles Treaty of 1919 decided nothing - despite that foolish woman's best seller - and in many ways created the next war. To me, there was a 1914-1945 war. Another 30 years war.

Agreed, and clueless. ==== People who oppose money - well, they don't understand numbers, mathematics. And to me, they don't understand life - the universe.
-
Agreed! But on what terms? Do you have any idea of why we have numbers -mathematics?

10% of Toronto population now rely on Food Banks

Subliminal? No - money. And the modern world. There are 35 million Canadians. The federal R-C/CBC subsidy is about $1.2 billion. By my calculation, each Canadian pays about $35 annually. There are some 10,000 R-C/CBC employees. ==== Radio-Canada/CBC is under federal jurisdiction. I prefer a federal state. -

In this modern world of TikTok and Paul Krugman's posts, we have to think differently about education. -

Yes, these CBC people are like teachers The CBC has a budget of $1.2 billion, and then tell us what to do. -

Balzac - and Dickens - were telling a story (the truth) at the time. But imagine writing Weiner's Mad Men. I, Claudius = imagine writing about centuries. years ago. -
I reckon that this 2024 US federal presidential election will be among the most contested. My prediction? Biden will win. In 2025, Biden will be US president - assuming that he's not dead.

CBC? These various CBC people receive $1.2 billion each year. Our taxes pay these people. Two points: 1. These CBC people always want to control us. 2. They hate people like Poilievre. -

We ordinary Canadians -like ordinary Swedes- are among the richest people in the world. Imagine a world federal government with a progressive tax - ordinary people in Sweden and Canada - give 60% of everything we create, to the rest of the world. Huh? Individuals in Alberta pay taxes to the Quebec government. -
This may get ugly. Huh? I suspect that we are in for a bumpy ride.
-
This is mutilation. ==== Why are some adults obsessed with this .

As I have often reminded my Russian friends, Stalin was an ally of Hitler's Germany until June 1941. And my American friends, your war started in Dec 1941 - Pearl Harbour. These were consequences. ===== Why did this war start in August 1914?
