You picked a fine time... "Margaret is leaving me... ... and I'm losing Quebec.... "
-
I never met Justin or Sophie or Margaret in person. I met his father on several occasions - and people like him.
-
I recently watched this noir. Three comments: 1. Raymond Burr, Perry Mason, bad guy? (Born in Vancouver, gay.) 2. Angela Lansbury? I thought she was Shelley Winters or Marilyn Monroe. 3. Correct me: Was this the plot of Body Heat?

Yes, this forum is now slow. This forum is "free-ware" and a few ordinary Canadians read, check the posts, forum - to redirect, for offensive posts. ==== IMHO, this has to change.

Disagree, Sharkman. There is something wrong with the numbers. Maybe, the hedonic CPI calculation is wrong. Or maybe, Robert Lucas was right: we are on islands - we are a manege in La Ronde, but the price of tickets has changed. -

Many women in real estate do exactly that - yet most real estate brokers are now women. A risky business! -
Is Putin grabbing a piece? Or is he simply being a typical stubborn Slav: it was mine. ==== Napoleon and Hitler wanted to change the world. Putin is no Lenin.

Thinking back: We and our western ideas won when Deng took control. I travelled in both China and the Soviet Union in the early 1980s. China was already different.
-
Reagan and Churchill and Thatcher and Stalin wanted to defeat the enemy. Chamberlain and Trudeau and Nixon and Brezhnev wanted to get along. I reckon that we won when the Wall fell. Since 1990, let"s get along.

Between 1618 and 1648, Europeans suffered a Thirty Years war. After the 1789 revolution, ordinary Europeans suffered again another 30 years of war. Between 1815 and 1914, Europe largely enjoyed peace. From 1914 to 1945, Europe endured yet another Thirty Years War. ==== Since the 1990s the end of the Cold War, we have no need for NATO. Berlin is no longer divided. There is one Germany. Russian tanks are no longer west of the Oder, or even in Poland. People in Vietnam are free to make shoes for me; I am free to travel in Vietnam.

In the mind of Putin, he arrived at power (control) when Russia was lost - he had to fix things. In the mind of Legault, he arrived at power when he had to make Quebec stronger, independent.
-
Legault was born in 1957. Putin in 1952. Both men were born after the most recent 30 year European war (1914-1945). IMHO, both men want to protect, make their societies, countries better, stronger. For most people, they are both leaders.

The first Catholic federal prime minister was John Thompson, a Conservative elected in the 1890s. Protestants crossed lines and voted for him. The first francophone federal prime minister was Wilfrid Laurier, a Liberal elected in the 1890s. Anglophones crossed lines and voted for him. === We Canadians cross lines, get along.

I agree. Every Thursday, money is in the account. Women love such a life/job. Unless the women are in real estate. -
Agree? We get along. ===== Margaret Atwood - typical leftist protestant anglo - claims that she/we "survive". I disagree, IMHO, we Canadians - French/Catholic/whatever - we go along to get along.
-
I have nothing against Disney. I was simply curious about "bombs". Very costly movies to make that lost alot of money. Movie-making is a weird business: Deep Throat cost about $20,000 to make. Ticket sellers made several million in its first six months. Or how about Blair Witch Project

What department in Canada is not broken...
August1991 replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ottawa? Imagine Washington. ===== Years ago, I understood that glaciers created our Great Lakes. Ordinary people created dams, we get along. Imagine taking a small portion - for others. -

I fear far worse. Since the pandemic, federal Canada bureaucrats are becoming like the Greek civil service, or Chinese and the iron rice bowl. -
Disagree. Trudeau Snr was remarkable. ==== Trudeau Jnr has his mother's ambition and his father's eyes.
-
Disagree. We French, English, Catholic whatever people - we get along.
-
We Canadians get along. ==== When Sophie left Justin, the Liberals lost.

Elementary school teachers are in front of my metro station in the snow. Children are wandering around with grand-parents. IMHO, Legault has f*cked-up. And he may not get out of this pente. ====== The PQ numbers are good - like the BQ in federal.
