Iranian Missile Attack on Canadian Base in Kuwait?
August1991 replied to ironstone's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As a Canadian taxpayer, I want nothing to do with this idea of submarines, airplanes... -
Breakfast? Years ago, I lived in a city where I could stop in a bar late at night and talk freely. For me, this forum is the sad remnant of an old world.

Moonbox: Have you read the biography of Xi Jinping? In American terms, he is Bush Jnr - if 41 had lived through Political Correctness. ==== Or what about Vladimir Putin? America in the 1970s: its defeat in Vietnam 1975, Carter. Putin is simply Germany after 1918. Or Reagan in 1980.

Sustainablity: Must each province have more people?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Disagree. Sortof. The people of Iceland have survived for centuries because they resolved differences, uh, peacefully. The people of Newfoundland have survived because of trade. -
Podcast? The Fifth Column. First time. Will not subscribe. ==== 1) I hate this podcast's hokey laughing/guys together. (It reminds me of Montreal morning radio.) 2) They did not let Christie finish his thoughts. 3) They did ask the critical questions - but I reckon that Christie only answered because he was willing to spill. 3a) IOW, They did not get Christie to divulge anything that Christie had not planned to say. ==== Christie may have been a DA but Jean Charest is a better player. IMHO.

John Maynard Keynes, a rich Brit, predicted a future of leisure. Woody Allen, a rich American, described life as distraction.

Your federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 was an intrusion into private contract. Moreover, it intrudes on State Rights. My favourite of your Constitution, your 10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Capitalism? The islands of Iceland and Newfoundland have each had about 300,000 people or so for several centuries. I reckon that they are sustainable. -
Guys, Cat females only drop an egg after, uh, sex. (Smart.) Human/females drop an egg every four weeks or so -regardless. (Wasteful.) Female Chickens/Dinosaurs drop an egg every day or so -regardless. (Very wasteful.)

I see many good older men (and women) sitting at Tim Horton's - talking/playing cards. They could be serving customers. What is life?

Good story. ==== I prefer a submarine. -
Haitisation of Canada's Indigenous People
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
USAID, ACDI/CIDA, NPIAD (Norways' system) gave zillions to various groups/governments in Africa. All largely for nought. If anything, the foreign money created gangs. -

We have a military base in Kuwait? Why? -
Both are ugly. But the Obama building (in south Chicago): The Obama Presidential Library is truly ugly. The Trump building (in Manhattan) is just stupid-rich ugly. ===== True, the Eiffel Tower was once considered ugly. It is now considered iconic, revolutionary. IMHO, the Obama building will never, ever be considered either. The Trump Tower is typical of late 20th century. Ugly.

I reckon that that the Paul Martin/Trudeau Jnr/CIDA/ACDI give them lotsa money doesn't work. It didn't work in Asia. Koreans do not live well because we "gave" them lotsa money.
