Federal Opinion Polls - Canadawide
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Two polls in a row showing Liberals have regained the lead over the Conservatives, maybe I will have to change the order of the columns again. New Democrats are hanging in there as well. Conservative income tax proposals disproportionately benefit men, upper-income families--report As I suspected. George Bush, Mike Harris, Gordon Campbell, Jean Charest, here comes the Stephen Harper Conservatives to join you.

Best Political Comment of the Day

Filmmaker Michael Moore, upon being asked by a CBC journalist if he was aware that there was an election taking place in Canada, responded: "Yes I am. Why would Canadians want to put their car in reverse?" -
Best Political Comment of the Day

Michael Moore, the Fahrenheit 9/11 filmmaker, on being told by a journalist that some people describe him as a left wing artist with conspiracy theories, responded: "Who said that? What are their names?" -
Propaganda and Terrorism It is understandable why the percentage of eligible voters continues to diminish, as most issues of importance get quite limited coverage, from our Canadian media. At least now we have a place like Mapleleafweb to help us do the job the media is supposed to do, which is to bring the real issues, such as this "Propaganda and Terrorism" article, to the table, to be discussed.

Cons drop 9% against Libs in 3 days
maplesyrup replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I may be wrong but I think this is a rogue poll. Check the gender stats. I think the actual numbers are about: Cons: 40% Libs: 30% New Dem: 23% -
Because you Liberals try and bait him with it, heck I could list 65 Liberal scandals and you would simply ignore them for Harper's stance on the war and vote the Liberals in again. Your a bunch of bloody hypocrites All politicians tell lies to get elected, the Liberals have been lying for 4 terms and still you vote for them. I dont trust your judgement on matters like this, you have proven your own inability to learn from the past So are you suggesting the right supports lying to get elected? Great. Let's deceive Canadians, let's bamboozle them, so they have no idea what policies they are voting for. How sad!

Where does YOUR local CPC candidate stand ?
maplesyrup replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Harper Conservatives seem to be big on free votes. Is that like free as in free trade? It is essential then for each of their canadidates to post on their website their positions on the social issues such as abortion, etc. If every Conservative candidate does not post his/her positions on social issues on their website, then it is a legitimate to say that the Conservatives have a hidden agenda, eh? -
The first few weeks of the campaign was all about the Liberal scandals. But the last week the focus has shifted to dissecting what the Harper Conservatives are all about. Canadians are having second thoughts. Harper is no longer the teflon man.
-
Ipsos-Reid poll results released June 22, 2004: Party/Jun19/Jun 22/Change Libs: 29%, 34%, up 5% Cons: 32%, 28% down 4% That's a shift of 9% in the Liberals favour, within 3 days.
-
An apology, Mr. Harper Harper is no longer the teflon man.
-
If Harper is so proud of his position of sending Canadian troops to the war in Iraq why is he tring so hard to hid it?
-
Don't take my word about the wheels coming off the Conservative bus. -from Jeffery Simpson's column in the Globe tomorrow: No wonder Harper has taken the day off. Perhaps he should take the rest of the week off.
-
For Harper with his support for the war on Iraq, this movie is coming out at the worst possible time, the weekend before the vote. I bet there will be line-ups around the block in Canada to see Farhenheit 9/11 this weekend.
-
Harper puts campaign on pause for a day As I suspected, the wheels have fallen off the Harper Conservatives' bus.
-
Gritty truths MSNBC has just done an online poll and 80% of Americans are going to watch Fahrenheit 9/11. Canadians will probably watch it in those high numbers as well. This really could impact on Canada's election campaign.
-
‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ puts it all together This movie is opening in the theatres in Canada Friday, June 25. How much of an inpact do you think Fahrenheit 9/11 will have on the Canadian election campaign as Harper wanted Canada to go to war against Iraq?
-
I doubt that. One week to go in an extremely close election race, and Harper takes a crucial day off. Conservatives had a rough week last week and something is definitely wrong. Was it the Air Canada turbulence? Was it being McGuintied by Ralph Klein on Health Care? Perhaps it was Harper's position on Iraq.
-
It seems strange that one week before the election Harper takes a day off. What has happened to the Conservative campaign?

Norman Spector is a former Mulroney aide, and a right wing, Conservatives can do no wrong, political pundit. He would say anything to justify or explain away a Conservative faux pas. The Conservatives didn't release it, it was a leak.
