  1. I hate Mulroney as a man, I do not let the fact that he was PM change my view. I met the man at Harrington Lake cottage and I must say he is arrogant and not very clear headed. I like Mila and their dog flower, but Brian is just not likeible. He was well on the way to being drunk when I met him, and he just assumed that everyone was in awe of his presence. I found him distateful in his ways of doing things, but I do not say that all his works were bad. The general idea of fre trade was a worthy goal, that I think later Liberals made into something bad. The GST which was hated by many, if it were to have became the tax it was supposed to, and by that I mean a tax that would replace income taxes and federal taxes, was not all together a bad idea. The trouble is it only replaced the dereal sales tax, and never was really looked at replacing income tax. If it had there would be no real underground economy as we have today. A 15% GST rate could easily replace the income tax, and would generate an even higher income for the government. Those who spend more would pay more tax those who spend less would pay less. It would be a much fairer tax, and not give the rich any loop holes to play with. Which is why the Liberals hated it so much. But as I said I do not think Mulroney was the right man to see it thru and because of his last days in office and the outlandish appointments he made, he pretty much deastroyed any chance at his party being able to govern, and there fore allowed the Liberals to undo much of what was supposed to be a start of things to come. This is what the Liberal fear today from Harper getting a majority. They fear that there may well be plans to follow thru with these old plans. I do not think the Canadian public would frown so badly on such things today if they were brought forward, but yes the business world would not like it as it would plug all those little perks thay have had for so long. As for the man Mulroney is, all I can say is make sure he never again can hold a powerful place in government. That is one thing I do not like about Harper, and that is he does listen to Brian and his input. Which may not be real bad, but it still makes me worried. As long as Harper does not do any pork barrelling when it is his time to move on then maybe having Mulroney's ear is not so bad. I am not sure how this would play out to the electorate of today, but I think it could be made to be acceptable to most.
  2. Maybe you can list all these scarey polices that you think will happen if Harper gets a majority. I think what you fear the most is the cancellation of many liberal policies that were rammed thru when Chretien was PM., more then any thing the PC's might do anew. I can say that I may now agree with some ideas the PC's have, but can I live with the overall things, is where I make my decision. With the Liberals and especially Dion who I think is an IDIOT, I just do not see any new policies and definitely do not find anything about the liberals compelling. The more I see of Dion in the news, the less I think he has anything worthy of listening to. I can only hope that many other people are starting to see the same thing.
  3. I wonder at the type of people who support the NDP in any area let alone Quebec. I guess there has to be some appeal to them in numbers enough to even get a seat, but everytime I look at NDP and their platform, I just can not find even small things that are to my way of thinking. I do though think the Liberals should be shut out of any seats in Quebec, just on the sponsorship scandel alone, but I really am amazed at the those who support them no matter what misdeeds they do. It is almost like zombies or the like. If things were to be equal in all the laws etc., the liberal in Quebec would mostly be serving time. But again there is that notion that these people are some how above all that, that just gets to me. I now look more to getting revenge on the whole party, and that feeling will not go away soon. Maybe the voters in Quebec can forgive and forget easily, but I for one can not do so.
  4. I do not see any amicable end to the land claims by native canadians, but I do see a forced or managed settlement that will be offensive to both sides in this, but it does have to end. The blockades are just festering angers and when courts rule they be removed, the natives then laugh at the laws. That has to end badly and it will. There will be several actions by all concerned but in the it will be Natives that will sit in jail cells, and that is what the laws will call for. People at one time supported some of the things protested but more and more these things have fallen on to things that do not have the public support. So when the courts are ignored, then the protesters should be arrested, and forcibly removed. If the natives escalate this to weapons being there then I guess that will mean deadly force should be used. That is just the way of the law and the way it will play out in the end
  5. I am pretty much perplexed when it would come to who leads the party. To me a leader has to have the ability to lead even in times where there is lots of opposition to where he may want to go. I do not believe that the leader must be the all knowing and seeing person, but he should surround himself with a group of people who are capable of guiding him thru the happenings of today, and he should also be open minded enough to admit his errors. To me a leader who is capable of saying that they have now changed directions because we see tha last direction was wrong, would have more my admiration and faith, then ones who never admit errors. I do not see that in the present Leader or his cabinet, but I do agree with more things then I disagree with. Harper will never be a people person, but he will do what he says and in todays arena of lies and cheating that were the legacy of the Liberal party, Harper is a new breath of air, even if not a fresh breath of air. I do think he will do well in any election where Dion is leading the Liberals. Dion is seen as a weak person by the public, and with out any real effort, the polictical satirists even make him more so, and yes this does play well to the people. I do think the Liberals will definitely regret any election with Dion as leader, as it will probably start as a near tie, but once under the microscope and in the debates, Dion will melt into obscurity quite quickly. Maybe this is what the Liberal want, that way they can have another leadership race. I can not say for sure if it would be any better. The Liberal party still has not shown anything of change from their old corrupt ways, and I do not think any strong leadership candidates will come forward until that time comes.
  6. I come from the time where my very early life did not have free medicare. There in thos times doctors made a good living, but they were mostly community based and they never really wer multi-millionaires. They were very highly regarded in the communities and were yes, in the upper classes of incomes. Once the government took over the medical care, you could also see the change in the doctors. They became more, non-personal and yes greed was one of the things that seemed to be there. I do not think that any profession should be making millionaires out of thpeopl in those callings. My personal family physician is very well to do, more from investing then from doctoring. Do not get me wrong he probably makes around $500,000.00 per year after his expenses, and works 14-16 hrs a day. He does donate time to help with the accreditation of many health organizations, and he loses money doing so, but feels it is the responsibility to make sure the basic things are done. He will retire soon and he has taken on several young doctors that as he says, he hopes to find at least one or maybe two, that will take on the same standards he has always felt. It is a hard thing to do, as most new graduates want to make money first and foremost. That is a sad thing about our present way of doing things. Doctors should be compelled to perform well but also, it should not be a blank cheque to their lives. Here in Canada we have many graduates who go to the USA to start there. I think we should have a law that says any doctor must practice in Canada for at least 10 years before he leaves to another land. The cost to educate a doctor is hundreds of time more then what they pay in tuition, and we need to know before we invest so much tax money that we will see some benefit. If they still just say too bad and go away, we should then make them pay what the true costs were to educate them. That would only be fair, and it would go along way to make Canada's Healthcare more available in a timely manner. But even with all the warts and delays of our present system, it is still by far way better then what many other countries have now. If Canada never had a government based healthcare plan, I am not sure we would be like the USA today. Because even back then we had many USA citizens coming to Canada because it was cheaper then what they could get there. The same thing has happened to Lasic Eye Surgury. When I went and got mine done it was $1000.00 for both eyes. In the USA it was $6000.00 for both, and with the exchange rate the people from the USA were even happier. The eye surgeon told me that 80% of the people he was doing now were from new York State. So yes even in todays times and standards, there are many people who preferr our way over the USA way. That is somethingwe Canadians can be proud of.
  7. Being on the right track does not have to mean you agree with all the things the government does. This kind of question more or less implies that you approve of the over all direction things are going. It does not mean you agree with all the minor things happening. I may well have differing opinions on some things but they may not rank very high on my must be list. This is why I thenk that the people of Canada say they agree with the direction things are going, but still not support the government in the polls. What alot of this does say though is that the support for the other parties like the Liberals and NDP is probably ripe for the picking. So if these parties force an election they had better be sure they have a leader that will show strong and well thought out platforms, because at the first sign of weakness and they will plummet int he polls. Butthis can also be said of the CP's as well, but when they do have the support of their general diirections, it is a lot harder for the opposition to do this. In this kind of environment the use of back room politics will not be looked at kindly, and to me that says the Liberals will need to really think twice before they take on such a thing.
  8. It really does not matter as to whether Iroquois or Mohawke are releated or just joined in protest. The simple fact is the protest is now illegal and has been so deemed by the courts, who are the so called keepers of the law of the land. It is not up to Native groups to be the keepers, and the said same also must follow the laws of the land or we will jail them, or what ever else it takes to get things back to what the courts ruled. Last Friday the natives drumming and chanted to drown out what they know was a court writ, that they did not want to hear. So now they will claim that it was never read to them. I will imagine in the near future that the police will have to move in and arrest those still blocking acces, and they will dismantle the camp. I only hope that this is done in full day light and with the necessary man power to do it in a proper manner, all within the laws allowed. The blockade shode be bulldozed or what ever else is needed to remove it and all the vehicles confiscated and either crushed or sold. Do not get me wrong, I do support somethings the natives have done in the past, but in a more peaceful manner. But their blockcades have always made me have to take the side against them. They know the rules and laws and are probably more aware of them then most. So that does make it even more against them in these things. I think that they are all too willing to take up causes that really have no grounds in law. And they, no matter what they try to say differently, must obey our laws of the land, and not their own interpedation of them. Every person who has bought property should have also made sure they had all rights to that land etc. It would nt have been a big amount to do so. If they did not, well then they should ask the lawyers or those who did their land deal why this was not so. When it comes to Uranium mining, yes there can be many things you want to be leary of. But you right at this moment have things in your cupboards at home way more dangerous then Uranium. Most of you have some kind of drain cleaner some where, and also have bleach bottles near by. That will kill you faster then any uranium could. Hell those of you with glow in the dark watches are wearing uranium derivatives right there on your wrist. The list can go on and on. I take the position that once the courts have ruled on the legality of the blockade, it should be lived up to and yes the police should use only the force necessary to remove it, and if the natives up they resistance, then the police should up their force, but in the end the blockade will have to come down. It may well over fill our jails for quite some time, but that is why we have jails in the first place.
  9. I actually wish that the opposition does bring down the government this fall. It would be the perfect time for the CP's to get a majority or close to it. If the opposition are so stupid to do this, polls will soon jump in CP's favour. Hell Dion can not even get a rise out of the peoplewhen he tries to scare them, let alone do so in an election. He is definitely not leader material and he would only lose support by being brought to the public light of an election. NDP can not even hold what they have if they agree to an election, and the greens well..... they are green what can I say. The BQ risk some ground in Quebec maybe, but it will all be tight races there. So let them drop the writ and lets have an election.
  10. Back in The days of the Avro, things pretty much rolled fast and furious and yes many advances came at a record shattering pace. But to just throw the towel in and give up domestic building..... well lets just say I wish it played out differently. It is much the same today with ships and shipyards. Canada has let go pretty much all capacity, and while we are not a big naval country, it would be nice to see us with at least the capacity to build icebreakers instead of having to get Russian built etc. You may see where I am going with much of this. Canada I feel needs to be able to have some capacity to look after itself especially with the building and supplying our armed forces. I know it may cost more, but I think that it would also make more people proud. I am sure there will be lots of others who will disagree, but maybe its because I am older, but I do see mpre and more people take no pride at all in anything being Canadian. Just an observation on my part.
  11. You may well be right on that, but on the whole i still feel better that Canada has them now and is less dependent on others. The only thing thta makes me wonder more about this, is why is our military always spending and buying from these companies, when I would probably feel better if we had a domestic capability for building and designing these kind of craft here in Canada. Not since the Avro Arrow have we been able to look with pride at things made in Canada. It does seem ashame that we still allow the restriants of yesterday to still compell us to farm out such things today.
  12. 3500 ft is less then 2/3 of a mile or so. I do not see that being a large problem and even in our ice covered artic clearing such a place would not be beyond possibility. I would say that most of the secondary airports have runways large enough in length to accomidate this. The wing spread might be an issue for some though.
  13. It is the implied message that the opposition is pushing that makes this even an issue. The PC's should publicly state that even though their candidate was not elected, they will always be there to help you with the needs for governmental services. Where the opposition does take all peoples requests and tries to politicise them in their favour, a PC candidate even though he was not elected will always be there to help out those with needs. Without the political baggage. It is just in how you spin the same facts. The attempts by the Libs or NDP to use this in a negative way may well backfire, because once it gets its steam up and starts playing in the news, The PC's will simply explain what was meant by it and show exactly7 what they meant about politicising things, to their own end by the opposition. I do not think that it will be all that hard to show this in the best light when the time comes.
  14. I am glad that it is cleared up about the tons vs kilograms, But still that is one very large amount of cargo. It will still allow Canada to be able to ship all its armed forces needs any where they are needed. That includes in all places in Canada as well. So yes these are going to be something that Canadians will benefit from in the future. As far as the taxes that were spent on these goes, I would rather it go here where we do have a need then be used to support foreign regiments where very little of what we give goes to the most in need. These planes can make it so we can fly in aid directly to those in need, if and when the need arises. When we have to get other countries to transport our aid, it just makes for one more hand that wants greasing. So yes this is a step in the right direction.
  15. I am not sure if the specs have errors as 77,000 tons 154,000,000 pounds and that does seem to be an awful lot to get in the air even with for engines. I maybe wrong on this point though. I am glad to see Canada with a heavy lift planes and I do think they will be well worth there purchase price as time goes on.
  16. I am very happy for Truscott for having his conviction removed. It seems that it took way too long and yes we the Canadian public will have to pay a very large amount to a man whose life we ruined and took away his childhood not to mention most of his adultlife as well. Yes I think the amount should be in the tens of millions. It was the public who convicted him and the public who the police were supposedly protecting, even though we now know it was more the one cops own preduidices that convicted Steven. It was the public who hired and allowed the cop to be there. If and does seem so , he broke the law in leaving out evidence and selectively prosecuting only one person, then that was up to us and the rest of the force to have spoke up. But if the big blue wall is allowed as it is the same as it is today. Then we the public will pay the price. If you wnat to change that then remove that blue wall. Too bad if you were not born when this occurred, you were here when it finally took 48 years to correct this travesty of injustice. Where were you when this was first pushed for in the 1960' later in the 70's and 80's not until 2007 did it actually get the justice it deserved. Since you were quiet during all the early times, now is not the time to be yapping about the costs.
  17. Still we can all specualte on this and that, and none of it will matter to the opposing views of the other side. Those on the police side seem to think that to not try and infiltrate the protesters would be wrong, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being dressed like the more violent protesting group and wearing masks, and holding rocks is ok. They do not know anything about the laws that say things about wearing a disguise while committing an offense is another law they are breaking. Also the fact that rocks can be considered weapons in some circumstances. They were outed because they did not fit in, and that in itself should say alot. But to those who think this is ok and normal, will never see what lurks behind such things. The otherside who are more rigorous in their views, see that the police have broken the law with their disguises and holding rocks etc., and would like to have a complete accounting of such actions. It is their right to do so and since justice is to be balanced it is also in the realm of justice that it be so. The police are resisting, which only makes matters worse. For them to have to be accounted for by the laws that govern all of us who are not police, are just too much for the police to follow. The police were there in sufficient numbers to be able to quell far larger crowds, and were equipped in full riot gear, so no real harm could have befell them and they still had the need to infiltrate and possibly cause trouble. Kind of sad is it not. If the protesters really were serious about getting violent they would have needed much larger numbers present, as it would have only took a small contigent of the officers there to round up and arrest all those who may have been there to cause trouble. It is a sad fact that there were really too few protesters there. Iy is even more sad that even those peaceful protesters, had to ask the undercover officers to put down the rocks they were carrying and they would not do so. Why was it so important that the rocks go with them? Also why is this so important for the police to not allow public inquirey to. It would seem to me that this could all be settled in just a few hours of allowing each side to investigate and have full access to all events. So far I have seen quite a few people on this board try to marginalise others, in an attempt to shut them up. To me that is wrong. I have started to see name calling a bit and that too is wrong. I know I have very strong reasons and feelings for my position in this, but to force these on other is wrong as well. The whole issue i guess is not that the police broke the law when they took on the disguises. That they did. It seems that what bothers everyone the most is did they provoke people into actions they would not have done otherwise. That can only be answered truthfully by the protesters themselves, and it seems that there has been reports that the police did provoke others. Now of course the polic deny all of this. I am not sure that any inquirey would have the blessings of both sides. I know why I am on the side I feel safer trusting. Can the rest of you really trust the police so much. has there not been enough occassions proven even in the courts, that the police break laws almost daily, been enough to make you question them and their actions. Do not get me wrong, I am not really for the protesters, as I do not agree with a lot of what they say. But when it comes to believeing them over a few police who I feel are hiding something, then I go with the protesters even though they too have an agenda.
  18. Well just let me look at this from the other side then. I am a cop and I come to the scene where people have been reported throwing rocks and I find two masked men standing there with rocks in their hands and looking very suspicious. Do I arrest those two men? If I charged them with this crime and they were to appear in court, would they be found not guilty? The only thing they have going for them is that they wear police officers. But is it not so that the police officer should have no extra considerations in the law? In fact they are to be held to an even greater expectations are they not? So I would say that this needs to be 100% investigated and the bpublic should be made aware of everything that investigation has found. It is really that simple. if they were no underlying agendas then it should not be a problem for that to happen. We do have the right to question the police, even if they think otherwise.
  19. When you have experience and wisdom then you can speak as to what my reasons are for feeling like I do. Beleiev me it took many years of painful memories and thoughts to get to the point that I would not take matters into my own hands. But when you have been thru something like thta and there was no doubt about its wrongness, and then get bullied trying to use the legal system to get what you feel are owed, only to bankrupt yourself doing so. Also I will say that even then I was threaten if I was to again pursue it. So as far as IQ goes I would match mine to yours any day. But as far as age and experience goes only a young inexperienced person would ever try to use that. I will say though that yes I am old and I want to let you know that I will enjoy spending your tax dollars in my old age. I also will as I have lots more time, be sure to always take the stance against what I see is police wrong doing, while you go play squash or tennis, it will be old farts like me who have a watching and the expeience to know when the printed stories are not so cut and dry.
  20. I will say that I do have a special place in my mind and heart for the police especially the RCMP, and it is not a good thought. I have reasons for what I feel and they are vaild. I do not have any sympathy for them and I take delight everytime I see them killed or hurt in any way. Yes I have good reasons for it, that I will not discuss, but I will say that between the RCMP and federal government went way beyond my charter rights and destroyed what I built up in my life and then forced me bankrupt in trying to defend my rights. By the way do any of you know that the cost to defend your charter rights is over $500.000.00 just for the first level of the courts. So some day try to prove you have any rights under the charter, and see what it costs you. Any way I try not to dwell too much on this, to keep my own sanity. What the police do and say in these protest actions will always be lies built on more lies. They have specific agendas, and none of them has any qualm about trashing your rights and freedoms. They will laugh at you as say straight out sue us if you feel cheated, and we will bankrupt you before you get to any level of court. Of course this will not be say where it can be recorded. So yes I do put my faith in some of what the protesters have to say, but most go well beyond where my true feelings lie, but at least they do go there. The police on the other hand do not and I can not ever trust them to go there period. Their main goal is more power and money. The idea of keeping the peace is laughable. Have any of you seen what happens when the police first arrive at any scenes that may go violent? The police come and threaten everyone around to go away and if you do not they will jail you first and figure it out later. Open disreguard for your rights, even at that point. Then they will force themselves to be judge jury and executioner, and pick and choose who and what the charges will be. They will hand cuff and arrest at their will before they even ask about what went on. Again breaking the Charter of Rights. Since they already threatened to arrest all those who were standing around if they did not leave, they now only have a few people there to ask what has gone on. The law abiding people have left. They will manhandle anyone they chose, and we see this everyday on TV as to how you see anyone who is being arrested has 4-6 officers all stepping on him while they are down crushing him really. Again Charter of Rights out the window. Now do not get me wrong, when I was involved with the police, they did not dare do this to me as I am not a little person. They did handcuff me and tighten the cuffs to stop all circulation to my hands and kept me in cuffs for two hours, where even by their own manuals all hand cuffed people are to be transported immediately to the station and handcuffs removed. But that is again just a small thing. They will keep talking and trying to get you to talk even after you have said you want your lawyer, and as in my case long before the lawyer could arrive they released me on my own recogisance. That is just how they do things so they say. I will say at this point they just found out that the warrant they had for search and seizure was for another company name and while it had my adress, and my personal name, the company name was of a company that operates at the other end of town. Big no no. Now that is about as far as I will go with this as it would not be in my best interests to bring this further public. Not because of settlements, but rather due to threats made to me if I pushed more against them. So yes the police are not my friends, or my protectors. I wish they get what they deserve, and yes when I read about one dieing, that suits me just fine. When they are caught like they were here in public view, where they can not just hush it up and threaten things, means a lot to me, as they are slowly getting shown what they are. So yes I want to see the public dig deeper and also know why they carried rocks etc. I can say from experience that they were up to no good. I am always for the public being told and all information brought forward in these things because as we say in Arar etc. they really try to cover up their own misdeeds then anything else. Our Police forces are corrupt but no to the small amount of money from the local guy, but from their seeking of more power to misuse and enough political power to sequester any of the public enquiries. So to me that is what all this is about, and yes it should be investigated to get to all the truth, with no blacked out stuff claimed to be too sensitive, as we all know that means covering their asses.
  21. While I may find the wedding going on a little odd, until it was expalined that many guests flew in for this and others may have already had large expenses, and may not make it there again. The wedding was held and the reception cancelled, and in view of what I have heard, that probably was the right thing to do. Even though it was a tradgic experience. To openly find fault in this and post so on the net is also tradgic, but in a very different way. It really should not matter what nationalities were involved. To make statements towards that fact is wrong mean spirited and racist. I would like to say that this family has my congradulations on their marriages and my condolences on the deaths and injuries that they suffered. The time to marry is right when both parties agree. As for 50% divorce rate goes..... well you can only have that happen after marriage, so unless you are psychic, you never know if you are or aren't the ones that stay the course.
  22. The liberals are very good at using their power to get businesses thta want to do any deals with the government, to follow the hoops where the liberal party then gets kickbacks. Also they will push to have things done that are in their own favour and in the ridings that voted liberal. They have a very much vote for me or be unseen by us when we are in power attitude. Dion has not given any cogent thought to what he would do if he were in power other then to say they would be different. How would he divide up the transfer payments and on what basis would he use to do so? What would he do about gun crime? And how would he enforce that? What would he say to NATO, if and when the time is up for the Afghanistan mission and no one is there to take the place? What would then liberals do to show our soviergnty in the north and how will he handle the fact that the liberals let all the naval ships and coast guard icebreakers go and now they will be badly needed to restore our claim to the largest area of natural resources on the planet. If any thing that the CP's have proven is that our armed forces need a complete overhaul with new and modern equipment, and that is not something you can let go. But the past Liberals were the ones who depleted the forces so badly that they could bearly muster domestic missions and a few peace keeping duties. Will the Liberal go back to their old ways? The Liberals can yap all they want while in opposition but they will have to have a platform to run on and that will not be of their chosing as today the voters will call for the answers to their questions. I do not see Dion as a quick on his feet type that can give answers without it showing that he is making things up. So yes I do not see the Liberals as being able to give a strong showing with Dion as leader.
  23. I am probably guilty of insulting some leaders, not so much about appearances but for positions they have taken. I have probably done so more to show my distain for a particular position. I do not like when people pick on appearances and I do find them offensive in true political debate. But that is just what I see and my own opinion. Higgly has broken some rules but has mostly been guilty of bad taste. The corrected title does make for better optics and the rest of the thread content, has allowed for a much wider view of the rules. I wonder if higgly would show up at a pool party wearing a suit? Or maybe a company picnic wearing a tux. Since it is up to the host of such events to set the stage for the type of dress, it then is more telling of those who dresed more formally the Harper, then it was a stain of Harper himself. But that is just plain rules of ettiquete, then anything else. It is obvious that Higgly is no a fan of Harper or for that matter CP's. We do need opposing arguments in order to have true debate. But when that argument in inlayed with so much venom, that it hurts the debate, then it is just in bad taste completely. I probably have said in anger some things that took me past open thought, and I admit it. But to take such a challenging stand and open retailiation again the boards mods and admins, is just asking for trouble. Higgly, I do not know you at all and I am really not a great example of how to be, but you seem to be going down a road where you want to confront authority, when you really do not have the right to demand anything more then what the rules have laid out. I think that if you persist you will only get yourself banned. Is it so necessary to be so insulting in the title, that you demand the right to be so? I hope not, as that insult has nothing political about it. It is an appearance issue and that kind of issue is to subjective to be used in a political debate. I hope you can see where I am going with this and hope you understand the meaning of what I have said. I have only done this with the best of intentions.
  24. She really does not have much to add to the facts that has not already been given, and parroting the points given by others may have now been seen as maybe not being so great an idea. I can only hope that she and the Green party actually have taken some time and effort to gather up and set out a proper agenda and platform, incase of a fall election call. If the green party actually had a good proper agenda and platform to run on, with issues that cover much more then environmental only, then the Liberals would probably lose many votes and maybe even some seats to them. As it now sits it is mostly the NDP that lose votes to the green party, and that does not seem to be enough to gain them a seat or two.
  25. Dion will get the point of why you never shoudl call an election on an issue like the environment, probably right after he get routed for having done so. The whole science behind both sides of the environment are not stable and if anything the side that says it is not such a big and pressing issue, will probably win out, as if the envirmentalists are forced to have to give hard scientific evidence, thye will certainly be seen as shakey, and unsure. You should never make an issue on something as dynamic as the environment, unless you are sure that there is going to be enough proof coming during the election to be absolutely able to confirm your position. I do not see that happening. Layton only wants an election because he see that he has no real power now and he would need something to chnage so he can try and be a deal maker. He has nothing to lose other then the small amount of credibility he has now, but he will risk that. The Green party is just a blimp in all this and can only go up from where they are, but it would never even in dreamland would they ever get a chance at power for at least several decades. It does not matter what their policies are, or their future visions, now is not their time period. Harper has ruled to most people's view fairly and has held up to pretty much he said he would do in last election. Yes there are some sore points, but do any of these sore points really seem unfair? He has shown to most he is not scary, and that he can be trusted to do the things he says and only change things if it is the only way to get it done. All those who say he is GW light, will have to really dig deeper as the USA gets redy ro replace their mistake and put a new president in place. Harper is the one I would trust more in this event then I would any of the others. Harper hyas been picked on for running a tight ship and the press hates him for that, as they now have to work harder for stories. I only wish Harper gets the majority needed, to sweep the civil service of the entrenched graft driven employees and do a proper cleaning. He has done a very good job with one hand tied behind his back, so lets now see what he can do with both hands.
