Any adult in a childs life for any significant amount of time has taken on a role of influence in a child's life. That culmination of all influences is what makes a child what they become. Hillary Clinton was not too far off when she said "it takes a village". Did you ever have a teacher who significantly impacted your life? Every one of mine did up until high school! How about close family friends that would always drop by to see your parents? Point is, this guy is screwing the mom. If they live together the child will naturally grow a bond of its own to the guy. Whether they make it clear that he's not a parent or not, the child will develope an undeniably powerful attachment to the guy and perceive him as a father figure. Desired or not there is absolutely no way to avoid this. They selfishly and irresponsibly toying with the emotional state of the child. There is no sayin whether or not any good or bad will ultimately come of this, but the potential for emotionally scarring the child is a lot greater. Having said all this, if this man is any sort of a man at all, he too will grow an attachment to the child and accept that his intimate relationship with mom and the time he needs to nurture that relationship will ultimately result in a powerful influence over the child that could only be compared to a parental influence. Personally, I think both the assholes should be sterilized for being so selfish.

Its morally wrong for upping the gas prices!
BornAlbertan replied to Topaz's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
"Personally, I hope the gas tax is raised by at least 200%... that way it will be primarily those who drive automobiles that shell out the money..." Guess again. People can cut back on driving etc...but EVERYONE regardless of how much they drive will be affected. You think many urban dwellers on AISH or welfare have a car? Bet they eat though. You wouldn't support jacking the price of their food by 30% would you? Guess what? You just did! It is a lot more complex than some prick like Jack Layton thinking riding a bike and boosting taxes will fix everything. -
The Feminizing of Western Civilization

Conservatives Raise TEN TIMES more than Liberals.
BornAlbertan replied to Michael Bluth's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hilarious... do you have some proof that the Liberal Party stole anything? I seem to remember a commission that was set up and it showed that there were a couple people involved, not the party itself. Sad Argus... And not all Nazi's hated Jews or supported Hitler either...but nobody ever speaks anything good of them do they -
"their humane treatment is an essential manifestation of the values Canadians are in Afghanistan dying to transplant." I just think we are wasting our time with the Middle East. If the people were ready for the democracy we in the Western World enjoy...no amount of tyranny by warlords or opressive governments could stop it. All through history before the UN or NATO when countries were opressed revolutions emerged. Maybe took a while...but when they were ready it happened. Case in point: The Afghan police know damn well what our guys are there for. Why did they do what they have done that is now issue in Parliament? Easy answer: they aren't ready. They are stubborn and fundamentalist. Maybe not radical like the Taliban or the Ayatollah's...but they have staunch religious backing for their core beliefs. We are simply wasting effort...but we can't pull out with the place as it is now either (because we are partly to blame!) We are damned cause we did and we are damned cause we can't stop.

Well...considering the fact that the Conservatives were only in power for 6 months at the time, and then consider acclimatization period etc...well regardless....should nothing have been in place when the Liberals got the roust? Anyway, during a governmental change there are bound to be some mix-ups, however something should have been in the works BEFORE the Conservatives took power. Government doesn't grind to a halt when parties change and nothing happens overnight. It just goes to show...Conservative....Liberal...it doesn't matter. Politicians flop like fish and never hit the water.

I hope you aren't suggesting that stay at home mom's are "prostitutes" to their husbands Seriously though...if you were to consider it THAT way, it could also be said that they are being compensated by not having to bring home the bacon for the necessities of life either. So while these "mom's" might not be paid monetarily, they are being provided for nonetheless.
-
Of course not. Nobody pays anyone what they're worth. Its called Capitalism. Uhm...don't quote me on that one
-
It seems to me a huge stretch to assign the equivlent work of a stay-at-home mom to that of psychologist among other positions. In addition, is not the value of one's work worth exactly what someone would be willing to pay? Would anyone pay $134,121 to a stay-at-home mom? If people want to have some sense of value for their parenting, perhaps they should take a look at the quality of their child's upbringing. Establishing a wage for this sort of self-imposed responsibility is completely foolish.

did·dle2 /ˈdɪdl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[did-l] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -dled, -dling. –verb (used without object) 1. Informal. to toy; fool (usually fol. by with): The kids have been diddling with the controls on the television set again. 2. to waste time; dawdle (often fol. by around): You would be finished by now if you hadn't spent the morning diddling around. 3. Informal. to move back and forth with short rapid motions. –verb (used with object) 4. Informal. to move back and forth with short rapid motions; jiggle: Diddle the switch and see if the light comes on. 5. Slang. a. to copulate with. b. to practice masturbation upon. I suppose you can deduce what a baby diddler is from that... And for wasting my breath with Liberals....take a look at our justice system. i am not against any religion, race or creed. I am not against thought. I am against actions that harm other people. And those actionsare what deem a person undesirable. The insinuation I would go beyond and be like a Hitler or a Stalin is laughable as it shows you totally misconstrued what I said and ABSOLUTELY PROVED MY POINT IN THE VERY FIRST PART OF MY FIRST REPLY IN THIS THREAD!!! Here is a refresher.... The biggest problems with internet forums are: 1. some people are just smartasses and are mis-understood by overly-sentive people. 2. you can't fully interpret a persons attitude based on text because there is no text or annunciation and therefore people either have to be so blatantly obvious of what they mean or elses they could be in the same boat as the smartasses in 1
-
Are you now equating Liberals to murderers, rapists and baby diddlers? No wonder our justice system is so f***ed up.
-
Why not? The people who send their kids there do so WILLINGLY by choice. Nobody forces it. If they shouldn't be funded directly....then people should be able to redirect their tax dollars from the public system to the school of their choice. And an elephant is a pachyderm...I could give a damn what it is called. A knife is a knife. You have a cowboy's kid wearing cowboy boots, cowboy hat and a 6 inch hunting knife out of sight and sheathed...the kid will still catch hell. But it is part of his culture. Double standard? I think so. --------------------------------- "Jews wanting public displays of Christmas trees being taken down." No they did not. Nobody did, not Jews not Islamics, not anyone. Sorry to burst your bubble. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...airport11m.html Sorry to burst YOUR bubble. Sure it didn't happen in the almight Canada....but it DID happen. While he never openly insisted that they take it down, he insisted that a Jewish symbol be put up. With that I have no problem. But he did it knowing full well it would be taken down rather than open that can of worms. It was nothing more than a ploy to get what he truly wanted without making himself to look like a villain. ---------------------------------- Perhaps you meant religious displays in govt buildings, courthouses and the like. And they should come down, to save ourselves from your future rantings about "why is that display of Mohammed/Buddha/Candalabra in MY courthouse , when their religious days roll around. My rantings? I never ranted about anything. And I have never gone to any other country and tried to change them to accomodate me. ----------------------------------- Language law say that French should be in the bigger part of the message, larger than english, not no english at all. Got to Chinatown, bet you the language of the signs is in Madarin/Cantonese ahead of English. Yeah....and nobody hands out fines for it either in Edmonton....how about Montreal or Quebec City? ------------------------------------- Imagine something that will not happen. Why? Exactly. It won't happen. Because it is open season on Christianity and everyone else is protectected under the umbrella of our b.s. so loosely worded "charter" and fear of being labelled a bigot for pointing out any double standard. A religious symbol is a religious symbol and the only ones ever attacked under the guise of "charter" law is Chritianity. Is it too much to ask that people actually acknowledge that there is a culture clash?

It's posts like this that begin to show why multi-culturalism is a failed P.E.T. project. I mean, ok. Fine. People get along...they live for the most part in harmony. But put aside slurs and stereotypes aside for a moment and you will still get things like: Sihks wanted to wear daggers to school...or else crying racism (uhm...sharp or not it is a weapon...DUH!) Jews wanting public displays of Christmas trees being taken down. Francophones having "language police" in one province discriminating openly against anglophones and crying fould over the most minute (and even unproven) thing (why is Shane Doan being called to Parliament anyway?!) Oh here is another one...Hudderites and drivers licenses. Not wanting their pictures on their drivers licenses because they are religiously not allowed to have their pictures taken. I mean it is absolutely ridiculous the concessions that are expected to be made. Those are just a few examples. Multi-culturalism works great...in theory. In theory everyone would live and let live and not be offended by the native culture of the society in which they were allowed to become part of. But alas, we live in reality in humanity. Imagine...someone saying they were offended by a Christmas tree and being forced to take it down. Some would say, that it is their right to not have anything religious or ethnic being publicy displayed. But what if someone said the same thing about a turban? I mean, a turban is a religious symbol trotted around 24-7-365. What is the difference?
-
As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I'm doing. Removing undesirables is no better for you (who call them the "scum of the society") than it was for Hitler or Stalin. If I misread, please explain what you meant by "I wish we could have this kind of purge in society too. "OOOOOHHHH..... you are a <fill in the blank>. Your account to humanity is deleted! Goodbye!" Be alot less murderers, rapists and baby diddlers if I was in charge of this country that's for sure." Uhm...let's see: OOOOOHHHH..... you are a murderer. Your account to humanity is deleted! Goodbye OOOOOHHHH..... you are a rapist. Your account to humanity is deleted! Goodbye OOOOOHHHH..... you are a baby diddler. Your account to humanity is deleted! Goodbye I don't think I need to explain anymore. If you still don't see my point, I will consider you a Liberal and not worth wasting my breath on because I have absolutely nothing civil to say about Liberal judicial policy.

How can you bind yourself to "rules of war" when the other side doesn't abide by them? The objective of war is to WIN. Why would you diminish your effectiveness and thus your ability to win with as minimal of your own casualties only to be the only side abiding by your rules? Hell...even Jean Luc Picard said to hell with the Prime Directive sometimes

Hmmm...Suzuki used to say everything was happening because of an impending pole shift though. -
"Reported crime rates have generally fallen over the past 15 years. In his speech, however, Mr. Harper remarked on how crime has risen since he was a boy in the 1960s." This is a matter of spin. Reported crime HAS risen. Crime rates HAVE generally fallen. Population has increased and thus crime has too. You can spin things any way you want when you compare apples to oranges. Which is exactly what has happened here. It is all about proportions and perceptions.

The history of humanity is full of this. . . . a lot less Kulaks and capitalists and Jews and dissidents too. . . . (I assumed that you were doing the "modest proposal" thing, if not, wtf?) If you are likening my support of applying capital punishment to the scum of society to that of the likes of Hitler, Stalin etc... I think you have either completely missed my point or have read into something that is entirely not there.

Why are Canadian voters so misinformed?
BornAlbertan replied to 1967100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I guess I should have read the post rather than the topic... However...if you think the Liberal contempt stopped with Chretien, you truly are misinformed. Martin was a ditherer. Ditherers get dithered by history. Too bad soo sad you were a pathetic leader and forever will be remembered as a fool. -

Hmmm...so imagine this: I begin to die owing you $100,000. Would you rather me pay you $75,000 or shaft you for the whole $100,000 and you will never see it? That is exactly what would have happened with the dispute. How people can still be upset over that settlement in a dispute with another country in which we cut our losses and move on but still support AdScammers, Income Trust Scandals, Billion Dollar Gun registries that do nothing and giving criminals the right to vote (thus allowing them to choose the makers of the laws they break...hmmm..interesting). Point is, politicians will never please all the people. But why the hell is it some people continually bitch just for the sake of bitching? -
