The Future of the Coalition
BornAlbertan replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hmmm....i didn't know that. I guess that is because the truth is John A. Macdonald was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He died in Kingston however. -
As Kimmy said prior...and having read this...music to my ears. But I wonder...why would Ontario separate from Canada? It supposedly IS Canada...why not just kick those your don't want out. Pretty please
-
Well...you certainly are entertaining me
-
Yeah, I know a lot of public funding was cut. But you also notice the massive infrastructure changes? Multi-billion dollar highway/freeway interchanges? Also...the stupid legacy building incarnation known as Ralph Bucks...sure, there has been frivilous spending. I am not the finance minister so I can't say where it all went. But I can tell you...they "high" oil prices had very little to do with our getting out of debt as the debt was paid off in March 2005...as per the announcement in mid-2004...well before oil prices got way out of hand.
-
not convinced...sorry Ok...so tell me. I have no problems paying my taxes etc... but the thing is, that is all the ROC ever bitches about is Alberta, its oil and its inherent wealth. They don't give a rat's ass about Alberta, it's culture, its people...it is only money money money. So yeah...if that is all they want us for then yeah...that is what upsets me is their desire for our money. Cause they don't desire anything else Albertan.
-
If you were so much more intelligent than the average ALBERTAN, you would know that our debt nearly was paid off before oil ever even hit $40/barrel. Just goes to show you are a transplant.
-
I notice you said you LIVE in Alberta...but never called yourself Albertan. And then you go off to call names etc... Guess what you can do...go to hell...er I mean back to Ontario or Newfoundland. Self righteous prick. I am Canadian only because my province is in Canada. First and foremost I am Albertan. Not because I am selfish, but because we are only a "welcome" member of Confederation because of what we can offer monetarily. The ROC doesn't give a damn about the west in any capacity other than money. Cheretien even said it best when he said he didn't like working with us because we were different... guess what fool...you were supposed to be our prime minister. IT WAS YOUR JOB PAL!!! If you can prove to me otherwise that the ROC truly gives a damn about the people of Alebrta and not its wealth...I will certainly be willing to reconsider my position. To be labelled rednecks...stupid...greedy...selfish...it is that kind of stuff that makes people not feel welcome within a so-called "family".
-
I guess you could also say that Canada never really cared about the West (other than its money) and they are getting tired of waiting for them to.
-
you're an idiot
-
OK...imagine...people so often parade around spouting off about political correct bullshit because "how dare the minority need feel this way because of the majority" .... gays got their "marriage" despite the majority of Canadians being against it...must protect the minority from the majority you know!!!! But when politics are concerned.... fuck 'em all they say! Therefore, I feel that I AM BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BECAUSE I AM A CONSERVATIVE. I'm gonna sue! <----jesting of course!!

Question for Albertans
BornAlbertan replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well, I am sorry you feel that way. I truly do. But I feel my province has been exploited for a very long time. We have been labelled red necks by people who don't know us. We have had a Prime Minister tell us that he doesn't like working with us because we are "different". I have had taxation without representation for almost my entire adult life...and now that it is taken from me, I am supposed to accept this coalition as being good for me? Good for my province? The NEP damn near killed us. Do you know how many people I know that lost their homes in order to preserve the east? I am glad you love my province...I love it too. And your fucking right it is a nice place. But I'll be damned if I ever trust a Liberal after Trudeau or Chretien. Especially one who wanted a "Green Shift"...then he lost the election. Then he resigned. Now he is potentially be a Prime Minister WITHOUT A MANDATE teaming up with a commie and someone whose soul purpose in Parliament is to self serve the interests of one single province if not break up the country in the first place?!?! FUCK THAT! I can't respect anyone who supports this coalition. Sure...it is "legal". But it is a perversion of democracy. -
Anyone notice in Dion's crappy, out of focus, camera phone video that the book on the top left side of the screen was titled "Hot Air"?

Question for Albertans
BornAlbertan replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So if one province is doing well and the rest aren't...we must all live in squaller just to be equal? And you think you aren't a socialist? holy fuck...shit or get off the pot buddy!! -

That comment reminds me of a welfare dependent drug addict who never uses the social safety net to help better themselves...just to merely survive in their pathetic existence. -
Question for Albertans
BornAlbertan replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ok...so Ontario contributing $11B with 12,891,787 people = 853.26 per person. Alberta contributing $11B (2003 figure) with 3,512,368 people = 3131.79 per person. "From 1961 to 2002 (the most recent year for which Statistics Canada data is available), Alberta made a total net fiscal contribution to the federal government of $244 billion, compared with $315 billion for Ontario and $54 billion for B.C. By far the largest fiscal transfers in Canadian history occurred through the national energy policies in the 1970s and 1980s, when the net transfers from Alberta alone associated with regulated energy prices amounted to $79 billion." http://www.ucalgary.ca/oncampus/weekly/nov...berta-pays.html ====== Don't anyone DARE try to equate Ontario's contributions to Alberta's. Ontario has had the lap of luxury when it comes to many things Canadiana. Sure, Alberta collected equalization for a couple years way back when...but we have more than paid it back....been screwed over several times in the past. We now have massive taxation without representation... TIME FOR ALBERTA TO CUT IT'S LOSSES AND GET THE F*** OUT!! -
Awwwwweeeee.....did I strike a nerve?! I hope not all Manitobans are so damn socialist just just for the sake or survival. I believe in hand ups....not perpetual hand outs. If you have a problem with that, I am sorry. "Give a man a fish...and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime." Jesus was a pretty smart cookie...
-
Spoken like a person from a province with so little to offer that the feds had to establish so many offices of consequence just to provide a revenue stream.
-
But the intent was different. A coalition wants to seize power. What the conservatives put forth was to let Canadians decide!
-
Oh and just to stir the shit...marriage was designed as one man and one woman. Worked prety damn good for a hell of a lot longer than this Westminster crap. But it was forced to be changed...because despite it was working as designed...it was deemed to not be right. Perhaps it is time for Canada to shit or get off the pot. We are a completely dysfunctional family proving that Conferderation is a crock. At this point in history, as an Albertan seeing this "Made in Canada" political bullshit and having spent much time in the US in the last few years, I would gladly welcome annexation to the US.
-
Just because it is designed like that doesn't mean it is right either! You should take comfort in knowing we realize that!
-
How can you guys compare a coalition government with a non-confidence vote? If it goes to an election...ok...fine...I once again get to have a say...but the conservatives NEVER tried anything like a coalition government.
-
As a conservative...I say it would be abuse. The seizure of power by a non-elected body is a circumvention of democracy IMO.
-
So then we have a government with absolutely no solidarity. SOUNDS GOOD. Sometimes order can only be achieved throu chaos. Maybe this might be a good thing...let them kill each other.
