If we leave before Afghanistan can be stable without us being there, our countrymen have certainly died for nothing. If we leave because the US, Australia, England etc... can be there to pick up the slack and we "do not need to be there", then we are cowards. The dynamics are significantly different. With only 19 people representing less than 2,300 each on average...no...it couldn't work. 19 is like a cocktail party...not a political party. When you have as many representatives as the provinces do, you need parties in order to determine policy. A common ground in which the majority of representatives under that banner are willing to agree upon or compromise under that common political flag.

You are right. It is from Ottawa. However, considering Alberta and Ontario are the only provinces who are net contributors to this "fine" country of ours...I guess you could say it IS Alberta's and Ontario's money because well...those two provinces are funding this damn country and the "Maritime Destitution Fund".

Because they are the "economic engine" and they let you know it. Yet they constantly complain to the feds for more money. The denigrate provinces like Alberta because they don't kiss their asses and make and do their own will. Most of my family is from Ontario. Spent a lot of time in Ontario. But it's problem is Toronto. I don't give a damn if it is the largest city in Canada. I don't care if Ontario has the most people. The fact of the matter is ONE fricking city dictates to a province and subsequently dictates to the country. That is why I always say, I love Canada...but I love Alberta more. If there ever came a referendum vote for separation...I would think long and hard about it. Because the Canada I live in is NOT the Canada I grew up in. I don't like the Canada I live in right now very much at all to be honest. Shall we thank Trudeau or Chretien for that one?

For decades it has been going along fine. Hasn't caused any problems. The problems have arisen in that the "culture" of Canada itself is under attack...or should I say forcefully being re-defined. I for one feel that if there are enough students to populate a religion based school in a particular areas....I don't give a rats ass if it is Christian, Punjab or Buddhist...if it can meet the educational requirements and it can be filled without publicly funded transportation to and from...then let them have them. The only way I can see a problem arise is if the school is not filled to capacity due to lack of a "targetted audience". How can a person argue against religion in schools because there is something fundamentally and morally "wrong" about it...yet there is no problem with openly contradicting a persons belief structure by proposing something like the big bang...that is a THEORY. And is just as fathomable as Creation Theory. It is amazing how we pick and choose where we are allowed to discriminate.

Isn't it funny how everybody is so against racism...when it is the white guy (whether he is right or not is irrelevant....sometimes the truth hurts) Every native I know who grew up on the reserve had a childhood innocence about them. Went to school with countless natives being in a town with 4 reserves within a half hour drive. Kids can be cruel yes....but they can also be innocent. I watched Native friends slowly begin to distance themselves from me and speak bad of me and friends as they grew older. Though they knew damn well I had never done anything to them. Perhaps it was their parents who were too drunk to ship them off to school for weeks at a time in elementary...I dunno. Or perhaps they weren't drunk....maybe the kids were healing....again I dunno. Sometimes hypocrisy is a bitch ain't it? Native cry racism etc....when they are the biggest god damned bigots in this country. They live to hate white man and they raise their kids to do it and we continue to pay for it!! Like the French on the Plains of Abraham....they WERE a conquered race!! Classic example of "we can be equal as long as I can have more"...imagine if Alberta decided we had too many Francophones and starting issuing deportation notices to sne some back to Quebec. Said it once....I will say it again: Canada is too diverse geographically, culurally and politically to survive. It is only a matter of time. OK...SO...paying for something generations ago to the ancestors of people who won't help themselves....should be akin to...say....garnishing the wages of Canadians of German descent to pay war reparations and settlements to the Jews. Would you think that is fair? Because we are about as separated as that as far as responsibility goes. I just have an incredibly hard time with people telling me the woes of Indians is because of actions taken so long ago...especially when there is a good chance those same people have never spent time on a reserve or actually spoken to anyone living on a reserve. There needs to be more conditions on the money the government just throws out. 18 year old Indians getting big fat checks and then a free education if just wrong! My parents taught me from a very young age the difference between right and wrong. I didn't need my faith for that. The understanding of my faith came AFTER that and I accepted it on my own terms. My faith is something I have questioned nearly every day of my life and have every time come to understand it better. Does my faith make me a better person? Marginally. It is only from an inner peace am I able to be a better person. But some people might not need to feel that...it is not my place to say one way or another. Am I a bad person? No. Am I self-righteous? No. Do I tell people what to believe? No. Do I rationalize with people why I believe what I do? No. So why do atheists take it upon themselves to push their views? Well, if you can't take personal responsibility for your lives (afterall, how can you blame someone from a few hundred years ago for you own alcoholism and other "admirable" traits. Before white man they as a race achieved NOTHING. After white man only a handful achieved ANYTHING (but are often chastized for it) so they shouldn't be missing anything. You know, I think it is no different to want to preserve a race as it is to preserve a family name. It provides a sense of pride and connection to the future as well as the past.
